Ning Shoukai almost choked on his drink after hearing such a nonchalant reaction from everyone around him.
"She fought both of us using only runes." Ning Shoukai emphasised dramatically, his voice rising an octave to command the table’s attention. "Absolutely nothing else."
"What? Really?" Xie Yanlin asked in obvious disbelief, his calm deanour slipping as he found himself entirely unable to imagine delicate inscriptions and runes being deployed so aggressively and effectively in direct, high-speed combat.
The others looked equally shocked, their chopsticks halting midway through the air as they processed the information. To most traditional cultivators, runes were universally viewed as supplentary support tools or passive barriers, rather than true primary weapons designed for direct, active battle.
"Well, if you do not believe , you can co watch the fight yourselves later." Ning Shoukai imdiately suggested, a sly and dangerous glint appearing within his eyes. "Lanying will probably head over to Xifeng’s place again today anyway to salvage her pride. Or better yet, one of you can personally spar against Xifeng and experience it firsthand."
At this mont, Ning Shoukai genuinely wanted other people to share in his profound physical suffering.
The Xie Family mbers imdiately exchanged silent, knowing glances with one another. They were certainly not fools. Why would they voluntarily offer themselves up to suffer a beating like that? Watching safely from the sidelines sounded far more intelligent.
"Sister Xifeng, can we co to your place with Sister Lanying this evening?" Xie Fengge asked hopefully, her eyes widening with obvious curiosity and excitent.
"Sure. You can simply tag along with Lanying when she cos over." Bai Xifeng agreed casually, appearing completely unbothered by the prospect of having an audience during her sparring session.
Everyone imdiately nodded in unison. They genuinely wanted to witness for themselves just how terrifying and dynamic inscriptions could beco during actual combat. Was Ning Shoukai rely exaggerating because he wanted to scare them, or had Bai Xifeng truly unlocked so monstrous new level of combat technique? Naturally, they would soon find out for themselves.
After lunch, the group gradually separated and returned to their own respective daily activities. Bai Xifeng also intended to head back to her quarters when she was suddenly stopped in her tracks by a student wearing the formal robes of the Armant Master Division.
The sowhat frantic-looking student quickly inford her that Teacher Zhou Yaoting was currently searching for her urgently. Apparently, she needed to head toward the Armant Master Division imdiately.
Bai Xifeng beca slightly confused, her eyebrows knitting together thoughtfully. She had already t Zhou Yaoting earlier that very morning to deliver the Stone-Clad Wolf carcasses, so why was he suddenly calling for her again now? Still, she assud he probably had sothing important related to the division that he needed to discuss with her personally. Thus, Bai Xifeng simply followed the student without harbouring much suspicion.
However, after walking silently for quite so ti, Bai Xifeng gradually realised that sothing felt fundantally wrong. The route they were taking had beco increasingly unfamiliar, the stone pathways giving way to unkept earth. The student was clearly not leading her toward the main halls or workshops of the Armant Master Division at all.
Instead, they eventually arrived at what appeared to be a completely isolated and abandoned area hidden behind several old, unused storage buildings. Wild grass and weeds covered most of the ground, while the surrounding atmosphere felt eerily quiet.
Bai Xifeng finally stopped walking altogether, her boots coming to a firm halt against the overgrown weeds.
"Why are you bringing here?" Bai Xifeng asked calmly, though her eyes had already narrowed slightly into dangerous slits.
The student abruptly froze in place as well, his shoulders stiffening violently. Then, he slowly turned around toward her. His face had already gone completely pale, and visible guilt was practically written all over his features.
"I am sorry, Student Bai..." The student apologised weakly, his voice trembling uncontrollably as he lowered his head toward the ground. "I... I had no choice."
The exact mont he finished speaking, he imdiately spun around and ran away as fast as his legs could carry him, disappearing around the corner of the abandoned building without daring to look back at her even once.
Bai Xifeng stood there in stunned silence for a brief mont, staring at the empty path. Then, she rely sighed helplessly, annoyed that her afternoon was being interrupted. Just as she was about to turn around and leave, a man suddenly stepped forward from the shadows of the building and blocked her path directly.
At the sa ti, Bai Xifeng imdiately sensed two additional presences appearing behind her. She glanced back briefly and saw two other n standing there as well, effectively cutting off her escape route.
"You cannot leave this place." The man standing in front of her declared arrogantly, crossing his arms.
"Oh?" Bai Xifeng tilted her head slightly, her expression perfectly relaxed. "Are you planning to stop ?"
The mont she made that small and casual gesture, her sharp features catching the sunlight, the man standing in front of her suddenly turned bright red, his arrogant deanour faltering.
"Hey! He Zedong, why the hell are you blushing?!" One of the n behind Bai Xifeng shouted loudly, thoroughly exasperated.
He Zedong imdiately snapped out of his daze, hurriedly adjusting his expression before glaring fiercely at Bai Xifeng in deep embarrassnt.
"Today, we are going to teach you a lesson." He Zedong declared coldly, trying to regain his footing.
Bai Xifeng rely raised one hand lazily before crooking her finger toward them in an openly arrogant and provocative gesture.
"You!" He Zedong shouted furiously, his temper flaring instantly before he charged straight toward her.
