Terrified, muffled screams continuously echoed from deep within the cold stone prison. The nearby student nearly jumped right out of his skin upon hearing the raw, unadulterated panic in those voices. It took him a stunned mont to fully realise that the frantic screaming was actually coming from those three usually formidable bullies.
Initially, his first instinct was to imdiately run off and find a teacher to report the matter. However, after taking several hurried, panicked steps away, his pace suddenly slowed down before he ca to a complete, dead stop. A strange, quiet, and insidious thought slowly surfaced within the depths of his mind.
If those three people disappeared from his life for a while... even if it was just for a single day... then no one would continue ordering him around like a lowly servant anymore. After standing there silently in the shadows for several long and conflicting monts, the student quietly turned around. He walked away in the exact opposite direction, deliberately pretending as though he had never seen or heard anything at all.
anwhile, Bai Xifeng continued walking leisurely through the school grounds, her thoughts drifting comfortably back to the topic of lunch. Soon enough, she unexpectedly encountered Bai Chunhua herself, who was walking down the main corridor of the pavilion.
The exact mont Bai Chunhua saw Bai Xifeng standing there completely unhard, a sharp flash of genuine surprise briefly flickered across her otherwise flawless face. However, it disappeared almost instantly, buried behind a well-practised, perfectly composed mask.
Unfortunately for her, that tiny, split-second reaction did not escape Bai Xifeng’s incredibly sharp and perceptive eyes. Bai Xifeng’s lips imdiately curved into a bright, mocking smile before she deliberately altered her path and walked directly toward Bai Chunhua.
"Hi, Bai Chunhua," Bai Xifeng greeted casually, coming to a halt just a few paces away. "Are you surprised to see standing here alive and well?"
"I am indeed surprised to see you here, Xifeng." Bai Chunhua replied softly. Her voice was as lodious and gentle as ever, effortlessly maintaining her usual harmless, elegant deanour. "After all, you are not officially a student of the Armant Master Division. I was simply wondering what urgent business brought you all the way to this side of the campus."
"Oh? Really? I feel like you are surprised because of sothing else entirely." Bai Xifeng chuckled lightly, her posture relaxed and carefree, before she narrowed her eyes slightly. Then, she leaned in a little closer and continued speaking with calm, chilling certainty. "For example... because your little plan failed miserably."
"Xifeng, what on earth are you talking about?" Bai Chunhua asked innocently, blinking her large, beautiful eyes in apparent, helpless confusion. "What plan? I truly do not understand what you an by that."
Naturally, there was absolutely no way Bai Chunhua would ever openly admit that she had secretly orchestrated the ambush. If such a scandalous matter ever beca public knowledge, the pure, saintly, and flawless reputation she had so carefully built within the academy over the past several months would imdiately crumble into pieces.
Bai Xifeng chuckled softly when she saw Bai Chunhua’s flawless act of confusion. Looking at her, she truly felt the urge to applaud such a stellar performance. If Bai Chunhua had lived in modern tis, she would definitely have won the title of Best Actress for playing the role of a pure, innocent woman so convincingly.
"Hey, Bai Chunhua, there will be an inter-division competition in the near future. Join the competition and fight there." Bai Xifeng suggested, throwing the offer out as casually as if she were comnting on the weather.
"What? Why on earth should I listen to you and join that competition?" Bai Chunhua replied imdiately, with a defensive tone.
"Because that way, I can beat you up legally." Bai Xifeng answered effortlessly.
Bai Chunhua was completely dumbfounded by the blunt response. Even the surrounding onlookers who happened to overhear them felt equally speechless. It was as though Bai Xifeng had just said sothing perfectly normal, reasonable, and everyday.
"What? You can try to beat up too. Well, that is if you are actually capable of doing it." Bai Xifeng added, openly mocking Bai Chunhua for lacking the strength to match her.
"Bai Xifeng, do not be so arrogant." Bai Chunhua warned coldly, gritting her teeth as her pristine facade began to crack.
"What? Do you not rember what you said to before? I am rely returning your very own words to you." Bai Xifeng replied with absolute calmness.
Bai Chunhua frowned deeply, her brow furrowing. She rembered those words all too clearly. It was indeed sothing she had once cruelly said to Bai Xifeng back when Bai Xifeng was still a useless cripple who was completely unable to cultivate.
She truly did not expect Bai Xifeng to bring those specific words back up in front of everyone like this. However, naturally, she would never openly admit to saying such things.
"Bai Xifeng, I understand that you hate , but you cannot simply put words into my mouth. I never said anything like that to you," Bai Chunhua responded firmly with a righteous voice.
Bai Xifeng rely laughed softly, entirely unfazed.
"Well, I already knew you would never admit to it. It is fine. However, you really should join the competition. Otherwise, you might just lose sothing that you truly want in your life." Bai Xifeng said cryptically before turning around to leave.
Without waiting for Bai Chunhua’s response, Bai Xifeng walked away directly. It was already just about ti for Ji Yuan’s class, and she needed to return to the Inscriber Division soon. Otherwise, she would inevitably have to endure Ji Yuan’s annoying criticism for missing his lecture yet again.
