"Mum..." Si Tang whispered, her voice trembling uncontrollably.
Si Tang’s mother slowly opened her eyes. They were clear now, no longer clouded by illness. She looked at Si Tang and smiled gently.
"Tang’er, why are you crying?" Si Tang’s mother asked softly.
Si Tang collapsed to her knees beside the bed, sobbing with overwhelming relief. Her shoulders shook as tears stread down her face. She then turned to Bai Xifeng, clutching her sleeve tightly, yet still unable to find the right words to express her deep gratitude.
Bai Xifeng understood Si Tang’s feelings at that mont. She remained silent and waited patiently until Si Tang cald down before giving her next instruction.
"Your mother will be hungry when she fully wakes up. Feed her so light broth. Avoid heavy at for a week. Her stomach is not ready for a feast just yet." Bai Xifeng explained calmly.
"Thank you. I will never forget this debt." Si Tang said, her voice choked with emotion.
"I sold you my skill. That is not a debt." Bai Xifeng replied indifferently.
"Yes... Yes..." Si Tang nodded.
She turned to look at her mother, who had already drifted back into a peaceful sleep.
"Since we have finished this matter here, we should handle the matter in the dungeon, don’t you think?" Bai Xifeng asked with a faint smile.
Si Tang nodded. That was right. There was still unfinished business waiting for them in the dungeon. She turned to the maid.
"Take care of my mother. Do not let anyone else enter this room, no matter what. Even if it is my father. If he cos, he might be with that old bitch." Si Tang ordered coldly.
"Yes, Lady Si." The maid replied, nodding as she accepted the order.
Si Tang and Bai Xifeng then headed to the dungeon, where the pharmacist, Jung Wang, and the assassins who had attempted to kill Bai Xifeng were locked up. They intended to settle the score and uncover the mastermind behind everything.
The air in the dungeon was a stark contrast to the clean, healing atmosphere of Si Tang’s mother’s room. It was thick and suffocating, reeking of damp stone and rusted iron.
Jung Wang was chained to a cold wall. His expensive silk robes were now tattered and stained with sweat and gri.
When the heavy iron door groaned open, Jung Wang flinched, squinting against the torchlight. He was struggling, trying to see who was coming.
Si Tang stepped into the cell, her expression as sharp as the sword at her hip. Behind her, Bai Xifeng followed leisurely, looking utterly bored as she leaned against the damp wall, idly picking a stray thread off her sleeve.
"Young Madam! Please!" Jung Wang began to wail the mont he saw Si Tang. "I told you before, I was a victim too! They threatened with my family... I did not dare to fight them!"
"Quiet!" Si Tang snapped.
The single word cut through Jung Wang’s cries like a blade. She leaned in closer, her shadow stretching ominously over him.
"My mother is awake. She is breathing. She is speaking. And she rembers the ’tonic’ you made her drink." Si Tang said coldly.
At that mont, Si Tang’s voice sounded like that of a devil in Jung Wang’s ears.
Jung Wang’s eyes bulged in shock. He shook his head frantically in disbelief.
"Th-That is impossible... No one survives that much Spirit-Wither Root..." Jung Wang mumbled weakly.
"Well... nothing is impossible in this world," Bai Xifeng chid in from the shadows. She continued in a mocking tone. "A lower-rank pharmacist might not be able to see the problem, but I, as an Immortal Rank pharmacist, know exactly which poisons you used, and I know how they feel."
"What? An Immortal Rank pharmacist? You?" Jung Wang could not believe his ears.
Si Tang ordered soone to co forward. In his hand, he was holding a small, plain ceramic bowl. Si Tang took the bowl. The bowl contained a dark, murky sludge. It was the remnants of the poison Bai Xifeng had extracted from her mother’s body.
"Do you know what it is?" Si Tang asked while showing Jung Wang inside the bowl.
Jung Wang glanced at it, but he did not dare to answer.
"You claid this was a ’high-level tonic’ for my mother. Since you are so dedicated to your craft, I thought you should enjoy the fruits of your labour." Si Tang said with a chilling smile.
"No... No! That’s concentrated!" Jung Wang thrashed violently against his chains, the tal clinking frantically. "That will kill in an hour!"
"Then you have exactly sixty minutes to give a na." Si Tang countered coldly.
She signalled to her guard. The guard stepped forward and gripped Jung Wang’s jaw, forcing it open.
"Wait! Wait!" Jung Wang sputtered as the guard paused. "It is Madam i. She forced to do this."
Si Tang froze. Her hand, which had been resting on her sword, trembled slightly. She could guess it, but hearing it out right made her angrier. She cald down while glancing at Jung Wang.
"My father’s concubine? You expect to believe she has the resources for this?" Si Tang asked.
"She provided everything! She wanted her son to be the sole heir. She promised a manor in the capital and a hidden life once the job was done!" Jung Wang revealed the plan.
"The classic ’kill the wife, take the life’ strategy. Simple, but effective." Bai Xifeng comnted with a soft whistle.
"She gave the Spirit-Wither Root herself." Jung Wang continued, his spirit completely broken. "She said if I failed, she’d make sure my own daughter disappeared from the embroidery hall. Please... she’s a demon in silk, Young Madam!"
