Now reading: Chapter 38: Mecha Distribution from The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL], a Yaoi novel by Kairie.

The Royal Military Academy was sowhat similar to the universities back in Tesseris. If anything, a major difference would be that it was closed to outsiders on weekdays.

There were also more simulation pods here than there were training halls for Espers.

As Lucas, he never really got to attend the specialized university for the awakened, but he once fantasized about going to one.

But now it seems like he regretted wishing for it. His mouth was really troubleso.

The truth was especially glaring now that he was running across the training ground, panting way behind the students who returned late.

Was this the difference between soldiers and wannabees?

Although they were technically eating the sa thing and exercising the sa way, these people didn’t break a sweat from running through the gravitational field.

Maybe this was related to the rumors he had heard all morning.

Apparently, they were the cre of the crop of the affiliated Junior Military Academy and have practically grown up training to be soldiers.

Unlike them, who just got conscripted, these people had been purposeful in how they lived their lives.

Well, Luca would’ve been like that had it not been for so circumstances.

He just shrugged the thought off, realizing there was no point in comparing himself when the outco was obvious.

What he needed to think about was how to get closer to his roommate so that D-29 could scan him.

"Host, what about running next to him? That would be close enough and not too obvious!" D-29 had the optimism of an ostrich.

"Sure, if you want to pass away as soon as we get there. Do you see that pace? How would I survive that?" Luca barked at D-29 in his mind but thought about ways to get closer.

Ways that didn’t involve shoving himself onto him or running after his shadow.

So, Luca decided to be his seatmate (not).

Well, technically, it was because no one had a surna that started with the letter "L."

Xavier didn’t bother to greet him, and Luca preferred that too. And it was a good thing that they had sothing to do the mont they settled down.

The temporary monitor handed over a few forms for the students to fill out. By now, Luca has been used to signing such docunts.

Weirdly enough, instead of actual classes, they’ve been signing different versions of these questionnaires.

But this ti, his attention was captivated by the monitor who said,

"Hand the forms once you are done and then proceed to the cha field. The instructors are waiting for us over there."

One of his classmates seed to know what this was for and asked, "The cha field? Are we about to receive our chas?"

Luca’s eye twitched. Didthey give out chas here?

Do they give everyone?

His reaction was triggered by seeing the prices of each cha. He almost quit school in fear. They even started counting the number of apples they needed to sell to buy one.

And now you’re telling him that they’d be given a cha?

He wanted to ask if it was for free or if they paid for it in their tuition, but he clenched his fists and rembered that he was now Luca Kyros and not Lucas, who barely saw paper bills in his lifeti.

Technically, he was given a cha and an eye-popping allowance. But Luca didn’t plan on using the funds until he’d t the Duke.

What if he discovers sothing wrong with him and decides to banish him?

Luca was afraid he wouldn’t be able to pay back the money if he used any of it, so he planned to spend his own earnings.

Anyway, he was a man with a livelihood now. It just didn’t match the expenses of buying and owning a cha.

Many of the students were attracted by the question, and they all looked at the monitor for an answer, "I don’t know, so don’t look at . But why else would we be asked to go there?"

The students buzzed with excitent, but so just shrugged it off. Luca was amazed at how wealthy these people must be, to not even blink at the ntion of being given a free cha.

Eventually, he would realize that he was still thinking too small and shouldn’t underestimate what it ant to be a mber of the nobility’s elite.

With the class boiling with excitent, the forms were filled out in record ti, and soon they were all lined up by the field.

It was Instructor Falco and another teacher by the na of Roland Moore who stood with boxes in front of them. The three boxes were filled with space button necklaces similar to the one he received from Butler Gary.

He rembered how he almost destroyed the room by trying to take out the cha when D-29 advised him against it.

Maybe he would try that in his space. That should be a big enough area.

It was a good thing he didn’t because as he lined up to choose a cha, he was shocked to witness a student take out what looked like a giant exoskeleton that towered over all of them.

He gulped and heard a few ka-ching sounds as he envisioned the collapse of their dorm room.

"You did great warning about that D-29." The system wondered what it was praised for but felt satisfied nonetheless.

Then Instructor Moore pointed at the boxes and said, "Here, we currently have light, dium, and heavy cha. You can choose your preferred type, and for those who have no idea, delay picking."

"Go to the test room and try."

He actually wanted to go to the testing room, but he felt so many eyes looking at him the mont his foot stepped out of the line.

Argh!

This was going to drive him nuts! Of course, as the heir to the dukedom, he should be familiar with chas.

So why would such a person not know what was best for him?

Not to ntion the rumors that he received a delivery that contained his personal cha—which he really had! He currently kept it by his chest, afraid that it would be lost sowhere and that he would have to pay the astronomical amount.

Most students didn’t hesitate to pick, so if he showed reluctance, he might be in for another rumor.

Therefore, the optimal solution was to ask D-29 about his best bet.

"Host, in my opinion, you might want to take on either the dium or the light cha. The heavy one might be more taxing on your constitution."

"Is there a disadvantage in picking the light cha?" Luca thought the light cha would be easier to pilot for a stick like him.

"The defense and close combat weakness. With such light materials, you must aim not to get caught or hit."

Oh.

Welp.

Maybe he should go for the dium cha, then?

Who would want to be caught dead once caught by anything?

So, Luca reached for a dium cha under the intense scrutiny of the students and teachers before returning to his earlier position.

Then Luca heard a supposed murmur, but seed too loud to masquerade as one.

"Hmph. Doesn’t he already have one? Why take one more?"

Luca sighed, wanting to tell them that this was his only cha, okay?!

The other one wasn’t really even his!
