Now reading: Chapter 383: Rejects from The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL], a Yaoi novel by Kairie.

Marquise Julienne felt her soul leave her body.

Because her baby was popping out things like he’s never really heard of the word "scarcity."

Because on the bare table, without any sort of grounding material, Ollie Mylor was placing Luca’s rejects upon rejects.

Yes, rejects.

"???"

"Brother...?" Luca blinked, confused. "Aren’t those the discarded pieces from the hangar?" asked Luca, who was wondering why his brother would bring those of all things?

If he wanted to bring sothing out, why not bring out the ones that actually made the cut?

"Did you not find the ones that passed the testing?" blinked the golden-eyed chanic who was spouting slanderous comnts that would have gotten the knees of several masters weak had they heard his words.

"Oh no, brother, I have them here too. Just so we could show everyone what made YOUR cut."

"Huh?"

"Julie?" asked Marquis Osmond, staring at his wife, whose expression now resembled soone watching history being rewritten in front of her.

Now, he was pretty sure that what was on the table had value because even the rock outside could be auctioned, but the question was more of what kind of value. But with his wife looking like that, should he be nervous?

He probably should be because his son didn’t stop at placing parts down, but pulled out a portable testing device before taking out a few other parts.

Beep.

[M7-R42J9 Rotor, Durability: 70%, Calibration Fidelity: 55%]

Seeing the display result, Ollie replaced it with another item.

Beep.

[M7-S42J9 Rotor Stabilizer, Durability: 65%, Calibration Fidelity: 53%]

But he didn’t stop there as he tried a few more that roughly gave the sa results.

"Since many of you are cha pilots, you probably understand what those values an, but for those who don’t, it’s like this."

"Durability asures how long a part would last. Major things could change this, such as material grade, synergy between mixed-grade materials, environntal exposure, and overall usage or damage."

"Then you have the Calibration Fidelity, which is usually important to the pilots because it indicates how precisely a part would respond to system inputs or commands."

"If it’s too low, you’ll need to adjust your instincts, timing, and aim—basically, you’ll be fighting the machine too."

"But then we have one more thing we’ve learned as part of our additional study," boasted the proud blonde who finally managed to say the word "study" the way it was ant to be used.

"It’s Material Resonance. While I can’t show you how that would be tested here, I can tell you that it represents the part’s compatibility with the rest of the system."

"Son, what do you an?"

"Mom, see, when we make or repair chas, we just pick a part from the similarly manufactured models and then change it up to make it connect, right?"

"And that’s why spiritual energy is used when repairing because, sohow, we need the materials to fuse so we can create the energy channels by force."

"But my good brother here has been doing it differently," he said, arms on his waist, as he looked at Luca proudly.

"For one, he picks the material with the highest material resonance, then uses that to make the components."

"But instead of using tal alloys, we try to use ores, beasts, or plant materials. And the energy savings as well as calibration fidelity are sothing else!"

His eyes widened as he nodded slowly to emphasize his point. But the best way to do it was to just show them. So, the little chanic placed another set of parts that looked a tad bit different.

More vibrant?

They weren’t sure. Because whatever they were thinking got stomped on by the number on the testing machine.

[Unregistered Rotor, Durability: 85%, Calibration Fidelity: 75%]

Then another.

[Unregistered Rotor Stabilizer, Durability: 83%, Calibration Fidelity: 75%]

Now, the numbers to the untrained wouldn’t look like much because that’s nothing close to 100%.

But each % increase past 50% was practically a price multiplier.

Ollie has 55% and 53% parts because his family could afford to buy him better materials. But at 50%, these materials were already priced at 60,000 CP each!

But just how many joint rotors does a cha use?

14-16, depending on the design.

And that’s just joints, A-grade joints that could only really reach a maximum of 60% fidelity.

So what was this 75%?

Definitely worthy of her mother’s gasps.

"Son, are-are these...S-grade materials?" asked the trembling mother, who was now trying to move forward to see the items better.

Ollie snorted. "Hah! If only, mom! I almost fainted when I saw these, too! So now we’re just in the sa boat!"

"See, these are Grade A components made from Titanroot vines. And when made into components as is, this thing cos out at 70% CF! But if polished, it gets to as high as 80%!"

"And that’s why they’re rejects, because my brother knows they can go up to 80% CF. So, if it’s not 80 then it’s gotta go!"

"And what better place for it to go than to the auction house!" bead the blonde, who felt like that was such a smart idea.

Bang!

"80%?!" said the marquise as her hands banged on the table.

"90% for the actual S-grade roots, Mom!"

Luca turned beet red.

anwhile, the elegant woman was shrinking as she braced herself for those words that could’ve even resurrected a few masters.

"Are you serious?!"

"Oh, yes! I couldn’t stand up after I saw my brother with all these!"

"If only you all knew how many 79% CF joints we have back there!"

"Wait, so you’re saying you have a lot of these, Oliver?!" asked the mother in sheer disbelief.

"Umm...About that My Lady...It’s my fault. Because I wanted to transplant the Titanroot but didn’t expect it continue to grow like that..." said Luca who rembered how D-29 alerted him to this sudden overgrowth which was certainly not as peaceful as he’s making it sound right now.

"So, now, when we have the chance, we try to maintain it by trimming, and we’ve ended up with vines and roots."

"My son, I’m not really sure about the specifics of cha parts, but it sounds like this is sothing good. So, you’re saying it’s renewable???" verified the Duke, who had tried to maintain silence because his wife said not to coerce people into signing contracts. But now, he couldn’t help his curiosity because everyone looked invested.

"Yes, Papa. I transferred it to the area that Tortie cleared. But now you won’t notice the clearing because the mother trees have been establishing a bit too well." Luca rubbed the sides of his face as he talked about this understatent.

"Wow. Then does that an you could make as many joints and stabilizers?!" followed up the amazed father.

"But how much is ’a lot’? Is it enough to make a few chas?"

"Your Grace, thousands."

"Because we’ve been trying to find ways to upgrade the chas of the soldiers. And because we’ve been practicing so much, we’ve got thousands of those rejects and a few hundred of the ones that my brother liked!"

Luca reddenend as he felt all the eyes looking at him but only until his brother took out the S-grade component that was made with the actual roots.

[Unregistered Rotor, Durability: 95%, Calibration Fidelity: 90%]

"!!!"

Oh, how embarrassing!

It wasn’t even 100% Durability! Thought the distraught heir.
