After enjoying his ti while swimming, he got out of it.
Getting dressed again, he decided to roam the surroundings again, wishing to find a good place to live for today.
He thought it’s better to stay at this place for tonight, but still double-check if there is danger or not.
Just after walking for a while, he found sothing.
He pushed aside a curtain of hanging vines and froze. Behind them was a narrow opening half-hidden by moss and roots — a cave.
It wasn’t large, maybe just enough for one person to sit or lie down comfortably. The air inside was cool and damp, carrying the faint scent of earth and stone. Jagged rocks jutted from the walls, and a thin stream of water trickled down one side, disappearing into a small crack in the ground.
Dust and leaves covered the floor, but the place felt oddly quiet safe, almost forgotten by ti. Light slipped through the vine curtain in thin golden threads, painting soft patterns across the stone.
"Damn! I really am lucky today." He grinned and entered the cave. Of course, he was cautious. He couldn’t just enter as if it was his ho.
Amon stepped in, testing the air.
"This will do," he murmured. "No one will find here."
Amon collected so leaves from plants and the surroundings, arranging them inside the cave so he could lie there.
"This much is enough... now for eating sothing... fish... yeah, I can capture so fishes from the waterfall stream."
He got everything. Even though he had no idea how to capture fishes, yet he got happy for no reason, not even thinking how to get them.
For now, he sat inside the cave. The leaves beneath him were a soft mattress for him. He leaned his back against the wall made up of soil and stones.
Now he needed to make a plan for the whole week. What should be his move? All he wanted was to secure an average rank, not high but not low either.
But the question is what should he do. It’s not like he was so mastermind. He also didn’t want to hide here for the whole week. It was tempting but too boring. He also needed to collect points by killing monsters.
It was such a pain. Maybe he should find so students and team up with them. But then again, who would team up with him?
He was known for not-so-good reasons. First years had a total of four hundred students. He was at the last rank. Many people knew him. His popularity had increased in all classes not to ntion his closeness with Princess Selena, giving new rumors to the academy.
"I... I will find Seraphina!" Yes, she’s the only hope he got.
It was shaful to go and try to get in a team of won only so he could survive.
But Amon is shaless. Sitting there for half an hour, Amon noticed it was noon.
His stomach started to growl.
Now he needed sothing to eat.
"Let’s capture them~ hehe."
Getting up, he left for fishing.
Amon walked back toward the waterfall, the sound of crashing water growing louder with every step. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, scattering golden patches across the ground. He stopped near the edge of the pool, rolling up his sleeves with a confident grin.
"Alright... ti to take lives of so fishes," he declared. He felt a little bad for them... Alright, he didn’t feel anything. Food is food.
The clear water shimred like glass, tiny ripples forming as silver shapes darted beneath the surface. Amon crouched down, squinting at them.
"...They’re fast," he muttered, frowning. "And I don’t even have a net..."
He picked up a stick lying nearby and gave it a test swing.
"Okay, this will do."
He waited patiently, eyes locked on the water. When one fish ca close, he struck.
Splash!
Water flew everywhere.
The fish escaped.
"...That was just a warm-up."
He tried again. And again.
After ten tries, he was drenched head to toe, hair sticking to his forehead, but his determination remained unshaken.
’Fuck, I had just taken a bath so ti ago... now I got drenched again,’ he thought sadly.
Finally, after another wild swing, the stick hit sothing solid.
He froze. Then slowly pulled it up and to his disbelief, a small silver fish wriggled at the end.
"Ha! Got you, you slippery little bastard!" he laughed proudly.
He managed to catch two more after several more splashes, using both hands and pure stubbornness. When he finally sat down on a rock, his clothes clung to him, but his grin was wide.
"I should get extra points just for effort..." he sighed.
Now he was more tired.
But the question is... how to make a fire? He didn’t have any fire elent. Does he need to rub stones against each other to make a spark and bring fire through it?
’Wait! I can use mana to make a spark on stones. More easily.’
He went back to his cave.
He collected so dry leaves and held two stones. Mana flowed over the stones. He collided one stone against the other. The spark was instant as it started to burn the leaves.
"I don’t have any salt with ... it must be tasteless... well, got no choice," he muttered.
The sll of cooked at filled the air, mixing with the mist of the waterfall.
Amon leaned back against a rock, chewing on his catch. The warmth of the fire, the cool breeze, and the quietness around him all felt strangely peaceful.
"Not bad," he muttered between bites. "A cave, food, and no monsters... Maybe luck really is on my side today."
"I feel like I am actually playing so forest survival. Heheh~ it’s kind of fun."
While other students were busy killing monsters and fighting against other students, Amon was leisurely spending his ti in nature. He didn’t know how long he would continue to enjoy it.
But even if it’s for just a day, he would enjoy it to the fullest.
