Jareth ca running toward Amon, his boots splashing through the blood-soaked cobblestones. His grip tightened around the hilt of his sword, mana flaring to life along its edge.
"Hang on!" he shouted, his eyes narrowing at the tentacle holding Amon midair.
He swung his blade with all his strength. The sword t the dark flesh with a heavy crack but the tentacle was thick, harder than stone.
Jareth gritted his teeth, forcing more mana into his arm. The glow around his sword brightened, and with a final push, he sliced through it.
Thud!
Amon crashed onto the ground with the severed limb falling beside him.
"Aarghhh!" he groaned, blood spilling from his mouth. His breathing was heavy, ragged. Pain pulsed through every inch of his body. The creature had slamd him again and again like a rag doll. Bones cracked inside him; his ribs felt like shattered glass. The cold ache in his abdon mixed with the burning heat of torn flesh.
Jareth dropped to his knees beside him, grabbing his shoulder. "Hey! Amon, can you hear ?"
Amon barely moved. His eyes fluttered open, unfocused. His mind was hazy, spinning between pain and exhaustion.
Jareth quickly pulled out a high-grade healing potion, popped the lid, and raised Amon’s head. "Drink this. Co on!"
The warm liquid slid down Amon’s throat, mixing with the taste of blood. Heat spread through his chest, slowly dulling the pain. His vision began to clear, though the throbbing ache stayed.
He coughed, groaned, and whispered, "Ahh!... Damn it..."
Jareth sighed in relief. "You’ll live."
"Thanks... again," Amon said weakly. His voice was hoarse, barely a whisper.
Jareth smiled faintly, shaking his head. "You’re a pain to deal with, you know that?"
He turned, trying to lift Amon. "Let’s get you sowhere safe-"
He didn’t notice the shadow rising behind him.
Amon’s eyes widened. "Jareth! Behind you-!"
Before he could finish, a massive tentacle slamd into Jareth’s side. The impact sent him flying across the square, crashing hard against the stone ground.
"Senior!"
Coughing, Jareth forced himself up, clutching his ribs. His side burned with pain, but he ignored it. The next mont, another tentacle lunged toward him.
Slash!
His sword flashed, cutting through the limb cleanly. Black liquid splattered across his shield, sizzling as it burned through the tal.
"Tch... damn thing," he hissed, stepping back and raising his shield.
Another tentacle ca from the side. Jareth twisted his body, swinging his sword in a heavy arc.
Slash!
The blade bit deep, splitting the dark flesh. But the tentacles didn’t stop. They ca in waves, each faster and heavier than before.
Jareth grit his teeth. "Focus on bastard! I am here!"
He raised his shield as three tentacles ca crashing down.
BOOM!
The impact shook the air. The ground split beneath his boots. His arms trembled under the force, but he didn’t give in. Behind him, Amon lay slumped against a wall, still too injured to fight.
"Stay down, Amon!" Jareth shouted.
Another strike ca, and Jareth t it head-on. The shockwave pushed him back several steps. Pain tore through his ribs, but he steadied his breath.
He roared and pushed forward, his mana flaring once more. The veins in his neck glowed faintly brown, the mark of his earth elent.
"Break!"
He swung his sword upward in a glowing arc.
Crack!
Two tentacles were cut clean in half. The abomination shrieked, the sound like tal grinding through bone. The air trembled from the sheer weight of its anger.
For a brief mont, Jareth caught sight of Selena in the distance. Silver light flickered around her as she teleported across the battlefield, slashing through the creature’s main body. Her movents were sharp, precise, and relentless.
He wanted to help her, but he couldn’t leave Amon unguarded.
And the monster seed to realize that.
The abomination’s main body shifted. From the center of its mass, a massive tentacle erged longer and thicker than the rest, its surface gleaming like obsidian. At its tip was a spear-shaped edge, pulsing with dark mana. It was different than others.
The air itself seed to bend under its pressure.
Jareth raised his shield. "Co on, then."
The tentacle shot forward with a shrill, cutting sound.
BOOM!
The strike hit with the force of an explosion. Jareth’s shield cracked instantly, spiderweb lines spreading across its surface before it shattered completely.
The impact sent Jareth tumbling across the ground.
"Jareth!" Amon shouted hoarsely, forcing himself up.
Jareth barely had ti to move. The monstrous limb pierced through his chest, bursting out his back.
The world went silent for a mont.
Jareth froze, blood dripping from his mouth. His sword fell from his grasp, clattering onto the stone. He staggered, eyes wide, staring at the sharp limb buried inside him.
Amon’s voice broke through the ringing in his ears. "No... no no no!"
Jareth turned his head slightly. His eyes softened when they t Amon’s. Despite the pain, a faint, almost peaceful smile touched his lips.
"...Stay alive, Amon. Dont die."
The tentacle pulled back, tearing through him completely.
Jareth’s body hit the ground with a heavy thud. His blood pooled beneath him, staining the cobblestones dark red.
For a mont, everything went still.
Amon just stared at the motionless body. His ears rang. His hands trembled. He couldn’t even breathe properly.
The sll of iron filled his nose.
His vision shook. He wanted to deny it, to say Jareth would get back up, just like before. But deep down, he knew.
He was gone. Just like Vixra.
The abomination turned toward Amon, its twisted body writhing. The single burgundy-haired head on top of the fused mass grinned at him, eyes glowing with sadistic amusent. Its laughter echoed through the ruins mocking, taunting.
Sothing inside Amon snapped.
"JARETH!"
His roar shook the square. Pain, anger, despair, all of it poured out in a single sound that tore through his throat. His mana flared wildly, slowly the shadow beneath him started to beco more darker.
The abomination turned its gaze fully toward him. The smile on its face only widened.
The fight wasn’t over.
Not yet.
But now, the fire burning inside Amon was no longer just rage it was fury born of loss.
And the monster that took Jareth’s life was about to face it.
