So one by one, the tension around the room loosened a little, though not completely.

Not for everyone.

Shelia still did not like it.

She could not even properly explain why, because nothing truly wrong had happened yet. Still, sothing about this new healer made her feel uneasy, and she had long learned to trust the small warnings in her chest.

So while the others were still shifting around awkwardly, Shelia quietly reached for Ophelia’s arm and pulled her a little to the side.

"When did you beco so close to her?" Shelia whispered.

Ophelia blinked at her with that sa soft sweetness. "Only today."

Shelia stared at her.

"What do you an only today?"

Ophelia smiled nervously. "I an... today."

Shelia looked as though she wanted to hold her own head.

"We have talked about this before," she said quietly. "What do you an only today? You cannot keep trusting strangers this easily."

Ophelia pouted a little. "But she is a healer."

Shelia imdiately said, "A healer can still be strange."

Ophelia looked unconvinced, because to her, healers were kind and useful and helpful, and this one had indeed helped her earlier.

Seeing that look, Shelia did not know whether to laugh or cry.

Finally she sighed and said, "Fine. If Isabella accepts her, then I accept her too. But next ti, do not beco friends with a stranger in one day."

Ophelia nodded obediently, though from her face, Shelia could already tell that the lesson had not truly entered.

How worrying.

Back near the table, the atmosphere stayed a little awkward even after Zara was accepted.

Nobody said anything openly, but the easy warmth from earlier had beco thinner. People still moved and breathed and stood where they had been before, yet there was now an extra person in the room and that alone was enough to make the balance feel different.

Then seating beca the next problem.

Because Kian sat first.

That part was natural.

Isabella was already seated.

Then Kian took his place by her side.

Cyrus and Zyran had naturally taken the other side near Isabella as well, because when it ca to her, those two had never once in their lives rembered the aning of restraint.

Everyone else was beginning to settle too.

Then Zara moved.

And she did not even hesitate.

She walked over and sat directly by Kian’s side.

The whole room froze again.

Because that was strange. Very strange.

If she was truly Ophelia’s new friend, then naturally she should have sat sowhere near Ophelia. Or at least near the other won. Or even a little farther away with the other guests.

Instead, she sat beside Kian. Right beside him. As if she belonged there. As if that seat had been waiting for her all along. Several people stared openly now.

Cyrus’s eyes cooled at once.

Zyran’s smile grew thinner.

Shelia’s suspicion beca even worse.

Even Valen looked at Ophelia for one brief second as if to say, "See?"

Kian himself went cold imdiately.

He turned his head and looked at the healer beside him, and the annoyance inside him rose so fast that even he was surprised.

What was she doing now? Earlier she had entered his room. Now she had entered this kitchen.

And now, in front of everyone, she had sat beside him as if she had any right to that place. Was she truly foolish? Or was she doing all of this deliberately?

Zara, however, pretended not to notice anything strange. That was the most hateful part. She wore the perfect expression of soone who did not understand the room at all.

anwhile, Osiris looked around once, then again.

Then his whole face changed. Because that was his spot.

That was exactly where he usually sat, especially when Isabella was there.

At once, he looked at Zara.

Then he looked at the seat.

Then back at Zara.

He tried, truly tried, to be polite for at least half a breath.

The problem was that Osiris did not actually know how to do that well.

Back on the mountain, Isabella had already suffered enough from his version of "treating soone properly," so seeing him try now was almost funny before he even spoke.

Finally he said, "Get up. That’s my spot."

The whole room beca silent.

Zara turned to him with a soft and almost wounded look, clearly ready to begin another innocent explanation.

Perhaps she would say she did not know. Perhaps she would say she only sat there by mistake. Perhaps she would try to smile and turn it into a harmless misunderstanding.

But she never got the chance. Because Osiris did not wait.

Before she could even speak properly, he reached out, grabbed her under the arms in the roughest but most straightforward way possible, and lifted her out of the seat.

It happened so quickly that for one whole second, no one reacted.

Then Osiris set her aside like soone moving an object out of the wrong place, sat down in his usual seat by Kian’s side, and looked perfectly satisfied with himself.

The room was stunned.

Even Zara’s mind went blank for a second from the shock of it. Because what was that? What was wrong with this man?

She was a healer. People respected healers.

People usually treated them carefully, even when they were annoyed, because no one wanted to offend soone who might one day be needed.

And yet this man had picked her up like she was a misplaced basket and moved her without a shred of hesitation.

Isabella almost laughed. She really almost did. Because to everyone else, this was shocking.

To her?

To her, it was simply Osiris.

She had already suffered under that mountain idiot’s manners before, and she knew very well that when he wanted sothing, subtlety was the first thing to die.

So she pressed her lips together and looked away before anyone could see the smile threatening to appear.

Around the room, everyone else stared at Osiris with expressions that were full of disbelief, helplessness, and that special tiredness that only Osiris could create.

And Osiris, of course, sat there like he had done nothing wrong at all.
