Louis Cox held Maeve in his arms, with Mason Sutton and Mia Ginger, the four of them saying goodbye at the school gate.
His mind was a blank.

The hand gripping the steering wheel was tense, the suppressed anger causing veins to throb subtly.
He thought of Mia Ginger’s feelings.
Faced with his harsh words, the young girl might be scared and wronged, might be lost and disheartened, perhaps not even having lunch, tearfully returning to the dormitory.
Thinking of this made his heart ache.
Because of that heartache, even though he had left so far, he couldn’t move forward.
He turned around and ca back.
Thinking, no matter what, it’s best to et face to face.

She should have grown to be a little sun, warm, rather than what he saw now, fragile and pitiable, like a rose with thorns.
He thought of taking care of her, and he was willing to take care of her, for the first ti he put in effort.
Unexpected things kept happening along the way.
But even so——
The two of them still ca together, he felt her feelings, also felt his own heartbeat.
But now——
Did he wonder if it was rely his own illusion?
He had never been in love, yet there were many couples around him, even those who entered marriage.
No one was like Mia Ginger.
Indeed, there was no woman like Mia Ginger.
Revering and relying on him, looking up to him, even fearing and dreading him.
