"Brother Jackson." Mia Ginger called with a laugh on the phone.
Still laughing?
Koa Jackson tightly furrowed his brows, his face looking extrely grim, and said in a deep voice, "Where are you now?"
"Huh?"
"Huh, what? I’m asking where you are right now."
"I’ve already left," Mia replied softly, "I’m in a taxi. I’ve been on the road for a while. You’re off work, right? You don’t need to find for dinner."
"Where is the taxi going?" Koa Jackson asked again.
Mia paused, not making a sound.
After a while, she said lightly, "Almost at Willow Road."
"Willow Road?" Koa Jackson furrowed his brows, thinking, and then directly said, "Tell the driver to turn around and co back. I’ll wait for you at the hospital entrance."
"Huh?"
"I said tell the driver to turn around..."
As Koa Jackson was speaking, he suddenly paused, his voice turning cold and hard, "Where exactly are you?"
Mia remained silent again.
"Mia Ginger!" Koa Jackson gripped the phone tightly with one hand, stopping in his tracks, and called her na with determination, "I’ll ask you again, right now, at this very mont, where are you?"
Mia’s shallow breathing ca through the phone, "I’m at the subway station at the intersection."
Subway station?
Koa Jackson turned and glanced towards the hospital gate, then commanded, "Stay there, I’m coming over now."
"Koa..."
Mia hadn’t had the chance to say more before Koa Jackson hung up directly.
She put down the phone, dazed for a long ti.
She couldn’t understand why Koa Jackson suddenly acted this way.
Through the phone, she could feel his suppressed anger. But everything was fine just a mont ago, everything was normal when she left.
She originally planned to take the car back to school.
But she didn’t really want to go back.
As always, every ti she saw Koa Jackson, she just wanted to stick around him, staying by his side made her feel secure and happy, even if they did nothing.
But she didn’t dare.
She’s deaf in one ear.
What if Brother Jackson notices?
Would he abandon her?
If he wouldn’t abandon her, he would definitely feel hurt and angry, right?
She didn’t want any of those outcos.
She didn’t want him to despise and abandon her, and she didn’t want him to get upset and worried over her again and again.
If he was troubled, she’d be more troubled.
If he was angry, watching him angry would also make her feel troubled and reluctant.
She didn’t want him to know, but she didn’t want to just see him once and leave either. As she walked along the hospital entrance, she kept walking and walking until she reached the subway station.
It was so cold, the icy wind felt like knives slicing her face.
She sat on the steps by the subway entrance, unsure of what to do.
Since there was nothing else, she just sat and sat, sitting there for more than ten minutes.
People ca and went around her, and she received many gazes from passersby.
Yet, she felt nothing.
She looked just like a statue lost in thought.
Koa Jackson’s call interrupted her daze, and Mia Ginger lowered her head, biting her lip, pondering for a while before suddenly being taken aback.
She quickly took off her backpack, pulled the zipper all the way open, and reached inside to rummage.
She searched back and forth twice, her entire being turned to stone.
She had gone inside to see the doctor, who had returned her registration slip, and she carelessly stuffed it into her bag.
The bag...
The bag that had the scarf, she had given it all to Koa Jackson.
Did he know?
Thinking like this, Mia was frightened all over, and she stood up abruptly, with her backpack dropping to the ground with a "thud", scattering pill bottles and boxes everywhere.
