Caryn returned ho, burdened with heavy thoughts.
Celine Tucker was rare at ho during the day, seeing her return, she greeted warmly, "Caryn, you’re back? Want so soup? Mrs. Denio made chicken soup, should I have soone serve you a bowl?"
Caryn’s face didn’t look good, her complexion was bleak. She pressed her lips together and shook her head, speaking in a lifeless tone, "Mom, no need, I don’t want to drink."
Celine, sharp-eyed, noticed she didn’t look well, subconsciously frowned and asked, "Caryn, what’s wrong, why do you look so pale?"
Caryn turned her face away, not wanting her to see her guilty conscience, hurriedly saying, "N-no, it’s nothing. Maybe I’m just too tired lately."
Hendrik Zachmann heard her voice and ca out of the study, a trace of a smile on his handso face, he asked with concern, "You’re back? Didn’t you go to The Ninth Institute today? How did the examination results of Master Cadmus’ laboratory go?"
It would have been better if he hadn’t ntioned it, bringing it up was like rubbing salt in Caryn’s wounds. Her already pale face turned even whiter, clenching her palms, her lips moved, but she couldn’t answer.
Hendrik originally thought she was more than likely to pass this examination.
Unexpectedly, when he asked, Caryn reacted this way.
His heart skipped a beat, "You didn’t pass Master Cadmus’ laboratory examination?"
Caryn felt unbearably embarrassed hearing his surprised tone.
Celine was equally shocked, not expecting that after she left the house confidently in the morning, she would return with these results. She instinctively asked, "What happened? Didn’t you ask Mr. Yancey and them?"
Everyone knows that The Ninth Institute is Amadeus Yancey’s domain.
In her heart, Caryn has always been part of Amadeus Yancey’s small circle, it made no sense that Caryn couldn’t get into The Ninth Institute.
Caryn’s expression was quite unpleasant, pressing her lips together, she whispered, "Soone’s pulling strings behind the scenes..."
"Who?" Celine asked angrily.
She bit her lip and said nothing.
Celine already had soone in mind, "You’re saying Nathalie Quinlan?"
Caryn still said nothing, her eyes full of gloom.
But in this situation, her silence was equivalent to a tacit agreent.
Celine’s expression was cold with suppressed rage, "Is she done yet? Does she really have to go against you!"
Caryn was annoyed and restless, her mind still occupied with Mateo Gordon being taken away, her mind was in turmoil, hearing her mom’s words, she only said flatly, "I don’t know what she wants. You should ask her, asking is pointless."
Not waiting for Celine to speak, full of irritability, she brushed past them towards the stairs.
"I’m tired, I’ll go upstairs and rest for a while."
"..." Celine watched her back, wanting to say sothing, but forcefully held back, not stopping her.
Instead, Hendrik was left completely bewildered, unable to digest the information revealed.
He waited until Caryn went upstairs, then rubbed his brow, his handso face showing a rather frustrated expression as he asked Celine, "Mom, does Caryn not getting into The Ninth Institute have sothing to do with Nathalie Quinlan? Does Nathalie know Mr. Yancey and them?"
Before Celine could respond, he continued rubbing his brow, eyes filled with confusion, "Caryn has always gotten along well with Mr. Yancey and them. Even if Nathalie knew Mr. Yancey and them, she couldn’t possibly overshadow Caryn."
So he couldn’t understand where Nathalie got such influence to prevent Caryn from getting into The Ninth Institute!
