The Kingsleys Family’s guestroom isn’t used unless important people co to visit.
Zevaney Kingsley noticed sothing was off as soon as she entered.
Besides Lynn Kingsley, several other important elders from the Kingsleys Family were present in the spacious guestroom, all with unpleasant expressions.
As they saw her enter,
they all simultaneously cast their gaze upon her.
The sight made Zevaney dizzy, and she couldn’t help but clench her hands by her sides. With forced composure, she respectfully greeted everyone: "Mr. Kingsley, greetings, elders."
She wasn’t of the Kingsleys’ direct-line descent,
so she couldn’t address Frederick Upton as familiarly as Jaycent Kingsley could. She had to respectfully acknowledge Frederick Upton’s status.
In the past, Frederick Upton always seed sowhat gentler towards her compared to others, but today Zevaney clearly felt his cold attitude.
She only heard the middle-aged man’s indifferent acknowledgent and wasn’t even asked about her progress with learning about black gunpowder.
An increasing sense of unease surrounded Zevaney, and as she clenched her fist, she noticed a man lying on the ground.
The man was lean and thin-faced, bound tightly, appearing extrely disheveled. Seeing her, he began struggling on the ground...
"Mmmmmm!"
At first, Zevaney didn’t recognize the person before her.
After all, her status in Inderia attracted many who wanted to flatter her.
She couldn’t possibly rember everyone.
She couldn’t rember the faces of so unimportant people.
So when she looked at the man on the ground, a mont of confusion flashed in her bright eyes.
Soon, Lynn Kingsley spoke: "Do you know him?"
Zevaney snapped back to reality and quickly shook her head in denial: "No, I haven’t seen this person."
The man on the ground writhed even more vigorously, struggling desperately towards her but was soon pinned down by two Kingsleys Family mbers in black, his face stepped on, unable to move.
Zevaney was still staring at the man on the ground when...
Lynn Kingsley’s voice, unreadable in emotion, ca through: "Is that so? He’s an assassin from the Wolf Gang. Your Uncle Nabours says you know him."
Wolf Gang.
Assassin.
Zevaney quickly lifted her head, unable to hide the shock in her eyes, her face turning pale.
Her current reaction had already betrayed her.
But she was unaware, and imdiately lowered her head, feigning nonchalance: "I, I’ve never heard of this person."
As soon as she finished speaking,
a gentle yet authoritative male voice sounded by her side: "Haha, Ms. Kingsley doesn’t know him, yet he confessed that Ms. Kingsley instructed him to intercept the miracle doctor I found. What a coincidence!"
Zevaney now fully understood the situation at hand.
The person she sent to intercept Jaycent Kingsley’s doctor had been captured, and they had co to settle accounts with her!
The situation having escalated to this point, she couldn’t possibly admit to anything as long as she hadn’t lost her mind.
So, even if standing was sowhat discomforting for her, her words remained firm: "I don’t know him, I don’t know why he would say that."
Kenzie Nabours sneered, his sharp eyes long having seen through Zevaney’s blatant lies in the center of the guestroom.
He wasn’t interested in arguing with Zevaney, a junior, which would be beneath him!
Kenzie Nabours directly stood up, his gaze sweeping across the Kingsleys Family mbers in the room, and declared loudly: "Mr. Kingsley, I’ve co to the Kingsleys Family today to tell you one thing."
He was about the sa age as Frederick Upton, around forty, appearing less sharp and more gentle and reserved.
