[ALPHA DOMINIC’s Point of View]

My heart stopped when I saw my wife suddenly run towards the danger and all the bells of alarm rang in my head as the adrenaline started to pump violently in my veins.

It was as if my body just moved on its own without thinking first about it, which was very unlikely of . I hate doing sothing without any plan. I hate being reckless. But this ti, it was different.

My body had to move faster than my head could think. After seeing Samantha throwing herself in the face of danger, all I could think was to save her and keep her alive and breathing no matter what. I didn’t care what could happen to . I didn’t care if I got shredded into pieces if it ant my wife could be safe. I had to make sure she would get out of this place alive no matter what.

That was what I promised to her. That was what I promised Devon and Diana.

I couldn’t comprehend what was happening. Why did Killian try to save Olivia? Was it because he was really an ally to her? But then I watched my wife run towards them and help the phantom lady, which perplexed because I never expected Samantha would do sothing foolish, especially saving that monster who tried to kill her and our twins so many tis before.

Unfortunately, with how impulsive my wife was, I had no ti to comprehend or think things.

Samantha and Killian successfully got Olivia out of the boulders but it was too late for Samantha to get out when the giant silver wolf reached them. I concentrated all my power and strength on my leg muscles, hoping I would get to her in ti.

I did.

Only it cost with a blinding pain as I felt the beast’s claws pierce through the flesh of my back, slicing it clean as the wound gaped open, splattering blood everywhere.

“DOMINIC!!!”

We didn’t have enough ti for any guilt or to argue so I asked her to show the pendant to the beast because it was the only chance we got and hoped that it would still work just like the very first ti Samantha showed the necklace to it. But it seed that the giant silver wolf was trying to fight back the power that the pendant possesses, or perhaps it was the curse in the beast’s blood that tried to control it from bowing down to Samantha.

Dark spots clouded my vision as the pain started to spread all over , making my head spin and making dizzy as I tried my hardest not to faint in front of my wife and in front of danger. No. I refused to pass out. While I knew that the beasts were still out of control, I would never let my wife faces all of this alone! I told her I would bring her to the Moon Wolf Spring, and I intended to keep that promise even if it ant I had to sacrifice my life for her over and over. She was my world, and I would never lose her again. Never!

Samantha pulled up. She helped stand up on my feet as she put my arm around her shoulder, keeping from falling. We watched the beast as it flinched away from us; both of its eyes were wide open as it stared without blinking at the light of the wolf pendant.

“Samantha! Dominic!” Killian imdiately approached us, still breathing heavily with fear still etched on his face. There was a panic in him that made frown, while I felt my wounds slowly healing, but not fast enough, just like before.

“Why did you save her?” I asked Samantha and Killian, and they both looked down, as if they couldn’t explain why they did it. “We are supposed to end her, not save her from this.”

“I am not really sure what happened,” Samantha answered as she looked at with a guilty and apologetic look on her face. “I just acted on my own and realized sothing that didn’t make sense to .”

Killian nodded as if saying he had the sa reason.

I was upset about what happened, but we couldn’t change anything about it anymore and just had to focus on taming the beast in front of us. The pain in my back was excruciating—it hadn’t stopped bleeding, and the wounds stopped healing as well. Samantha’s face turned pale as she noticed it, and then she started to rip the hem of her shirt and pressed it against my wounds.

“It doesn’t heal, Dominic! We have to do sothing about it!” she panicked, and I grimaced when I felt the stinging pain of the fabric against my flesh. “We have to get you back!”

“We have no ti for it, Samantha. We have to focus on what we have to do here,” I hissed, glaring at the giant silver wolf and then searching for Olivia, who was still lying on the ground, looking weak. Olivia glared back at , baring her teeth, and surprisingly, didn’t dare attack or any of us when she had a perfect chance.

“I rember when Brianne told before about this Moon Wolf Spring that can erase the curse on anyone who bathes in its waters,” Killian started to explain. “She told that the Wolf pendant of that necklace was a token from the old Primordial Clan, which can ta the ancient beasts of the Black Forest!”

“Yes, we already know that, thank you, Killian.” I almost rolled my eyes as I smiled at him sarcastically, feeling so annoyed at the little common sense he had. “As you can see, it isn’t enough because of the curse that tries to control that thing!”

“No!” Killian looked at and then at Samantha’s eyes as if he was struggling to explain to us what he really ant. He swallowed hard between his heavy breaths as he explained further. “I an, your blood might strengthen its effectiveness, Samantha! The silver giant wolf recognizes your scent. It will recognize you more if it slls your blood—the blood of the Primordials!”

My wife looked at as if asking for my opinion on whether it would work. Killian’s eyes didn’t blink as he said it, and my instinct told that maybe he could be right.

“It might work,” I murmured softly to my wife, trying to calm the fear in her.

Samantha drew in a deep breath as she pulled a small knife from the pocket of her jeans. She placed the pointed tip on her palm and started to slice it deep, and the blood beaded and then started to drip from her hand.

I watched her crimson blood trickle down the chain of the necklace she was holding until it reached the wolf pendant, which still emitted a bright white light.

Killian and I had to flinch away from Samantha as the light started to glow brighter, like that of the morning star in the night sky, which refused to dim its light in the middle of darkness. The white light started to turn red—as if it absorbed the color of Samantha’s blood, and at that mont, the giant silver wolf stopped its hostile growls and began to calm down.

“Is it working?”

“It’s working, my love,” I whispered to her, making my voice soft and calm despite the excruciating pain in my back. “Keep going.”

I felt like I was a candle that was slowly burning out as I watched my wife’s blood drip down the necklace and onto the ground. I never liked seeing her getting hurt, but we were in a battle, and my wife is a brave, powerful soldier. But despite her massive strength as a descendant of a powerful Clan, she was still my wife, and my job was to protect her at any cost.

Samantha, Killian, and I watched the beast bend down on its four feet as it stared at Samantha as if completely submitting to her authority. I felt my wife’s shoulder ease from the tension as she sighed heavily, as if relieved seeing the giant silver wolf finally cald down in her presence.

Even I felt as if a huge thorn in my throat had been plucked out, and I finally could breathe at ease. Killian relaxed as well as he stupidly smiled at both of us, receiving another glare from .

“No!” Olivia scread, looking so defeated as she saw how Samantha tad the wolf guardian. “No, you will never be happy together, Dominic! Samantha! You destroyed ! I will destroy both of you as well!”

I turned around and saw Olivia grabbed an old black pottery jar from between the stones near her and threw it straight in the giant silver wolf’s face, right between its eyes.

To my dismay, the wolf guardian howled in pain once again.

Killian rolled his eyes, looking so done with Olivia. “F*ck! NO!,” he groaned, throwing his hands in frustration.

Raising an eyebrow, I gave Killian and Samantha a look as if saying, “See? I told you...”

The ground shook as the beast started to move and charged straight at us. My eyes widened as I yelled and pushed my wife out of its way. “WATCH OUT!”

Too bad it was too late for to move away from it too and I felt the full force of the creature as it ramd straight to the giant boulders, crushing my back against them.

As my vision started to darken with black spots dimming my already blurry vision, I felt the crunch and snaps of my bones on my ribs and left arm, and it was so intense that no sound was released from my throat when I scread in agony.

Oxygen was pushed out from my collapsed lungs and blood spurted out of my mouth. I looked up at the sky as the stars looked like they were dancing above .

My heart tightened as I heard Samantha’s scream fading from a distance.

Or was it slowly fainting?

In my head, I saw a faint light where I saw my wife’s image in her wedding dress slowly walking down the aisle. I rembered that somber look of her eyes when we got married. But this image—Samantha was smiling wide at . Her eyes were full of love as she walked towards slowly, like I was the only person she was seeing on the day of our wedding.

My eyes moved to look at the sky in a prayer for the Moon Goddess to give more strength for Samantha—for the kids.

But my attention was caught when Olivia started to make her move again.

“You will all die here!” she scread and bared her teeth at my wife.
