The cat pushed off from the edge of the building with a light, effortless motion, her body cutting cleanly through the air as if gravity barely had a say in the matter. For a brief second, she was suspended between sky and ground, her form almost blending into the dim surroundings. Then she landed.
There was no sound at all when her paws touched the ground.
There was no thud, nor scrape, completely nothing. It was the kind of landing that made you question if she had weight to begin with. But then again, her form was of a cat right now. Maybe that explained why.
She lifted her head and started walking toward , unhurried, like she had all the ti in existence.
"Right now, I believe you’re dealing with sothing pretty interesting," she said, her voice calm, almost amused. "Won from another world, going against a man trying to take over everything. I’d say that’s... entertaining to watch."
Her tone carried a strange mix of curiosity and detachnt, like soone watching a show they didn’t intend to interrupt.
I didn’t think she should know anything about what I was planning.
Then again, thinking about it for more than a second, I hadn’t exactly been subtle. Anyone with half a brain and the right perspective could probably piece things together.
"Two sides, both aiming to conquer the world in their own way," she continued, her eyes fixed on . "It’s the kind of thing you don’t get to see twice. Of course I’d be interested."
"Why are you even interested in sothing that doesn’t concern you?" I asked.
While I was talking, sothing shifted in the air around . It was faint, but noticeable enough to set off alarms in my head.
"There’s sothing else over there," Zes said.
I followed where she pointed and spotted another cat.
It looked almost exactly like the one in front of . Sa posture with the sa eyes as well as the sa quiet presence that didn’t quite sit right.
Now there were two of them.
Still, even with both standing there, sothing about them told they weren’t separate. It felt more like one existence split into two bodies, like a mirror that decided to walk around on its own.
"What’s interesting to is what’s happening right now," the other one was the one who was talking now. "Honestly, I don’t think anything else in this world could top it. Not when it won’t be long before the Dragons from high above the universe step in and correct everything."
"Correct everything?" I repeated, frowning.
"The destruction of everything," she replied without hesitation. "You know... the opposite to what you call it? The Big Bang?"
My eyes widened before I could stop myself.
That wasn’t sothing people here casually talked about. I an, it certainly sothing that doesn’t exist in this world.
"Oh, right. The Big Bang," she went on, almost like she was correcting a small detail in a conversation. "That’s what you believe started everything. But it’s not the end. That part hasn’t happened yet."
She tilted her head slightly, her gaze locking onto mine in a way that made it hard to look away.
"The worlds will collide," she said. "Everything that’s been happening across each one will be forced into a single place. A final crusade, if you want to call it that. The Great Ones decided this from the very beginning. They let each world grow, develop, and mature in its own way... and then they throw them against each other in a multigalactic war. In the end, only one world remains."
There was a brief pause, just enough for the weight of her words to settle.
"So this little conflict between you two," she added, her voice quieter now, "it’s not just so local fight. It’s the one that decides who leads this world when it’s forced to face everything beyond it."
I didn’t know whether to believe her.
Part of wanted to dismiss it as complete bullshit. It sounded insane when you broke it down.
But then again, she casually brought up the Big Bang like it was common knowledge, like she had seen it or at least understood it on a level most people couldn’t even imagine.
That alone made it hard to brush everything off.
Still, a question lingered in the back of my mind.
Where the hell did she even get all this information?
"You don’t have to worry," she said, as if she could tell exactly what I was thinking. "I’m not planning to interfere or anything like that. That would ruin the fun. Watching is the whole point."
"That’s not really my concern," I replied.
She didn’t seem offended. If anything, she looked mildly entertained.
After a mont, she raised one of her paws and casually licked the back of it, like we weren’t talking about the possible destruction of everything. The normalcy of the gesture almost made the situation feel more ridiculous.
"By the way," she said, glancing at again, "I’m sure you’ve already felt it... but a Great One is coming."
I let out a quiet breath.
That part wasn’t news to .
I felt its presence, after all.
"It’s not who you think it is," she added. "It’s a living one."
That made pause for real.
A Great One... a complete, living one... coming here?
"He seems to have noticed so kind of anomaly in this world," she continued. "So he’s coming to investigate it. Don’t worry too much, though. He won’t arrive for another two years."
Two years.
That sounded like a long ti, but considering everything she had just said, it didn’t feel like enough.
"You’re telling all this like it’s nothing," I said. "Like you’re just talking about the weather or sothing. Are you sure you should be sharing this with ?"
"Well, think of it as a heads-up," she replied with a small, almost playful look. "That way, you’ll know which side I’m on. At least for now."
She turned slightly, as if already losing interest in the conversation.
"Anyway, I should get going."
The two cats began walking away side by side.
For a second, I thought they might rge back into one, like the whole duplication thing would just undo itself. That would’ve made sense in a weird way.
They didn’t.
They just kept walking, separate but clearly not.
"Who are you, really?" I asked, raising my voice just enough for her to hear.
There was no way she was just so ordinary witch. Not with everything she knew and not with the way she carried herself.
She stopped, just for a mont.
"At this point in ti... you don’t want to know," she said without turning around. "But I don’t mind telling you little by little. Maybe soday, I’ll even let you capture ."
There was a slight pause before she continued.
"Before that happens, though, you should be prepared. There are a lot of battles ahead of you."
That was it.
She didn’t bring a dramatic reveal, nor a clear answer. It was just more vague hints thrown my way like pieces of a puzzle I wasn’t sure I wanted to solve.
It didn’t really give much to work with.
After a while, her presence faded completely.
Both of the cats were gone, like they were never there to begin with.
