Bella’s POV

"You’re not going anywhere," Parker declared, lunging forward to snatch the travel bag from my grip.

"You don’t get it. Derek’s father is demanding DNA testing," I hissed under my breath, ensuring Chloe wouldn’t catch our conversation. I’d instructed her to remain in the bedroom with the children, hoping they wouldn’t witness the chaos unfolding beyond their door. Truth was, I didn’t want her discovering what ss we’d fallen into either.

"We’ll handle this situation. Don’t panic. He can’t storm in here making demands for DNA tests," Parker attempted to calm , though I kept shaking my head while my gaze found Hugo lurking in the corner, hands balled into tight fists.

"Get out, Hugo. This disaster started because of you. You dragged sowhere against my will. You convinced that trusting my own judgnt was smart, that letting others control my choices always leads to trouble!" My voice cracked as I scread at him, then I slapped my palm over my mouth and pressed my other hand against my forehead. Pure panic was consuming .

"Bella, security guards are stationed along the shoreline. They’ve received briefings about your circumstances. You might think this isn’t severe, but the situation is critical. You’re a human researcher, the distinguished human woman our werewolf territory has been eager to et. This isn’t negative, believe . They harbor no anger toward you, and they won’t cause you harm. They’re genuinely thrilled you’re here, it represents a major accomplishnt for them," Parker continued explaining, but my stare remained fixed on Hugo.

"Don’t you have anything to defend yourself with?" I scread again, my voice shaking with fury.

"I apologize," Hugo mumbled weakly.

My jaw clenched tight.

"We could suggest they conduct blood work on just one child, excluding Tara. They’ll never discover the truth," Hugo offered pathetically, grasping for solutions.

My glare intensified.

"And you believe they won’t test the remaining children for paternity?" I snapped back.

"Look, regardless of what’s brewing between you two, and whatever actions he took, he’ll face consequences. Please, try to relax. We’ll ensure this gets resolved. You won’t face punishnt," Parker said, though clearly uncertain how he’d actually solve anything, but desperate to prevent my departure.

"I don’t care anymore. I’m getting out of here," I announced firmly.

That’s when the suite door swung open once more. This ti, it appeared hotel staff had granted soone entry, which ant serious business. My body imdiately shifted into panic mode, understanding that only soone wielding real authority could gain access.

I glanced between Parker and Hugo as they both moved forward, positioning themselves protectively in front of while figures began filing through the doorway.

Just as I’d dreaded, Lord Morris had returned, bringing additional council mbers as reinforcent. He commanded the council community, after all. What truly stunned was spotting his son accompanying him—Derek.

"What’s the aning of this? You can’t simply storm into soone’s private suite!" Parker snarled, shooting daggers at the council mbers trailing Lord Morris.

"We guaranteed this woman respectful treatnt, yet now you’re invading her personal space like common criminals?"

Hugo added with cutting hostility.

The mont he finished speaking, everyone shared knowing grins.

"Well, we received reports about your fiancée’s recent interview," Lord Morris said coldly. "Seems like you shouldn’t be teaching us about respect."

His attack struck Hugo where it hurt most, and rightfully so. Despite all his accusations and defensive posturing, he remained the primary cause of this entire catastrophe.

"Looks to like you were heading sowhere," Lord Morris observed with a mocking smile.

Obviously, he’d figured out my escape attempt.

"Yes, we’ve asked Alpha Jack to secure alternative accommodations for her. Remaining in a hotel suite this long feels inappropriate now, it’s been weeks," Alpha Parker replied, clearing his throat while fabricating excuses.

Lord Morris shot him a quick look before chuckling to himself. He was always like this, judging everyone or trying to dissect their personal business.

"So, what brings you here exactly?" I demanded of Lord Morris, crossing my arms defensively. I no longer gave a damn how anyone felt about my tone when addressing their family mbers. None of their families had earned my respect.

"Oh, rember our morning discussion? You claid I’m rely so random individual, that I can’t appear here demanding DNA testing. So I brought my son along. He wishes to request the DNA test," Lord Morris explained, patting Derek’s shoulder.

My attention shifted to Derek. The instant our eyes connected, he averted his gaze. I couldn’t fathom how deeply he’d fallen. In my mind, I scread at him, reminding him how desperately he’d hoped the babies weren’t his, yet here he stood beside a council, demanding DNA testing.

"So what exactly makes Derek anything other than a random individual?" I said loudly enough for him to hear. His eyes went wide.

"I’m sorry, but he was once my friend. He ans nothing to now. He’s married. I’m married. I fail to understand why you’re implying we had an affair or slept together. It’s insulting." I maintained my defensive posture, voice unwavering.

"Well, he’s hardly a random individual. He’s requesting DNA testing because he believes he’s the children’s father," Lord Morris responded, continuing to speak for Derek. Naturally, Derek remained mute, how could he speak now?

Even Parker and Hugo appeared stunned. Their friend stood there, pretending he was voiceless, as though he genuinely wanted the baby too. I had never despised anyone, not even Hugo, as intensely as I despised Derek in that mont, and he could read it clearly in my expression.

"Well, I was never intimate with your son," I hissed, my fists tightening beneath my crossed arms. "Besides, this is completely disrespectful to , my marriage, and my husband."

That was my complete statent before Morris made a disapproving sound.

"Then simply complete the DNA testing and silence all these rumors. My son believes the children are his."

As he spoke, I turned completely toward Derek. "Well, I’d prefer hearing it directly from your son, then."

The mont I said it, Derek t my gaze. Our eyes locked, and I knew he could see my absolute rage.

"Derek, inform the council you want DNA testing," Lord Morris instructed, stepping aside and gesturing toward the council mbers, all of them staring at Derek’s face, waiting for his response.

With everyone’s focus on him, Derek stepped forward and cleared his throat.

"Actually, I’ve never been intimate with her, so I don’t understand why you’re involving in this or requesting DNA testing," he said.

His words completely transford the room’s atmosphere.

Everything beca silent.
