Gu Shengyin furrowed her brow upon hearing Yan Zi’s words: "What do you an by that?"
Despite her question, a ridiculous guess surged in her mind.
Yan Zi observed her deanor and realized that over the past two years, her cold-hearted colleague remained the sa, indifferent to everything except her tasks.
She said, "Second Young Master Zhou, I rember you know him. I’ve seen him by your side before."
Gu Shengyin’s heart skipped a beat: "Zhou Bingzhu? What’s up with him?"
Yan Zi ntioned that man, a hint of apprehension flickering in her eyes: "I only knew before that the eldest son of the Zhou family was a formidable figure and Zhou Jia’s most favored heir. But I reckon everyone has been mistaken; it’s this Second Young Master Zhou who is the most deeply hidden in the Zhou family."
Gu Shengyin’s expression turned subtle upon hearing this.
"In the past two years, he has risen too quickly; in terms of capability and ans, he’s no less than those old hands who have spent decades in officialdom, but..."
She glanced at Gu Shengyin: "In private, everyone knows that for the past two years, Second Young Master Zhou has been madly searching for soone."
Gu Shengyin’s face remained impassive: "Oh? Who is he looking for?"
Yan Zi scrutinized her expression, but she had never been able to read anything from Gu Shengyin’s face. She just shrugged in a gesture of giving up.
Yan Zi shook her head: "His information is kept very tightly under wraps; no one knows the specifics. I rely guessed based on so vague reports."
She looked at Gu Shengyin seriously: "The person he’s looking for is likely you, Jiang Lan."
Despite Yan Zi’s uncertainty, Gu Shengyin felt more settled in her heart.
If what Yan Zi said was true, then Zhou Bingzhu was very likely indeed looking for her.
After all, she did leave without a word back then.
From what she knew of that man’s nature, although his personality varied in each world, his deep-seated possessiveness towards her hadn’t changed.
Yan Zi continued to ask: "Jiang Lan, honestly, what’s between you and Second Young Master Zhou?"
Gu Shengyin shook her head: "There’s nothing between us."
Seeing her firm attitude, Yan Zi, though a bit suspicious, didn’t press further.
Gu Shengyin then spoke: "Did you co to for a reason?"
Yan Zi’s attention shifted instantly: "Do I need a reason to co find you?"
Gu Shengyin maintained her indifferent deanor: "If there’s nothing particular, you can finish eating, wander around here, or head back early."
At this, even the usually cheerful Yan Zi’s face fell: "Jiang Lan, I’ve never t anyone like you! Here I made a special effort to co and see you, and not only do you not welco warmly, you’re eager to send away?"
Yan Zi felt foolish, having rushed over so hastily.
Seeing Yan Zi flushed with anger, Gu Shengyin, true to her nature, originally wanted to say, "It’s not like I asked you to co see ."
If she really said that, this person before her might just flip the table and leave, right?
Perhaps she had decided to leave this world, or maybe hearing the sudden news of Zhou Bingzhu searching for her left her emotionally unsettled, but Gu Shengyin had a montary urge to confide.
She sighed slightly: "Let’s talk sowhere else."
She didn’t bring Yan Zi ho; instead, Gu Shengyin chose a tea room, and they conversed in a private room.
Gu Shengyin got straight to the point: "Heavenly Lone Star, have you heard of it?"
