Chapter 66: Chapter 66: The Duke’s Heir VS The Underdog Female Supporting Character (Part 6)
Gu Shengyin reviewed the mories in her mind and finally rembered who the red-clothed mage was.
Joanna Raymond. The granddaughter of the Empire’s Minister of Finance.
Everyone in the Carter Empire knew that His Grace the Duke of White Rose and the Minister of Finance did not get along, always having opposing views on national affairs, with neither able to best the other.
Because of this, the younger mbers of both families also disliked each other.
Another reason why Joanna did not like Veronica was that people always compared them.
If it were rely a comparison, that would have been the end of it, but, unwilling to admit it, Veronica Roman was indeed more accomplished than Joanna Raymond.
The two were of the sa age, and Joanna already beca a Primary Magician this year. According to magic levels, starting from the lowest Magic Apprentice, to Wizard, Mage, Magic Conductor, Magic Instructor, Grand Magic Instructor, and finally Magic Saint.
Reaching the Mage level at thirteen made Joanna undeniably a genius.
However, Veronica, also thirteen, was already a Great Sword Master. Under the sa level classifications, Martial Artists ranged from Swordsman, Sword Master, Great Sword Master, Legendary Sword Master, to Martial Saint.
In terms of levels, a Great Sword Master was equivalent to a Magic Instructor, two ranks higher than Joanna!
Over ti, Joanna would subconsciously avoid Veronica.
Everyone knew that in general gatherings where Lady Veronica Roman of the Roman Family was present, Joanna Raymond from the Raymond Family would not be seen.
Lilith, as Veronica’s good friend, would naturally speak up for her friend during such tis.
At that mont, the owner ca out, holding a bag of fresh Slender Grass.
“I’m really sorry, miss, but the Slender Grass has already been reserved by Her Highness,” the owner said apologetically to Joanna.
Joanna looked at Gu Shengyin: “How much did you offer? I will pay double if you let have the Slender Grass.”
Gu Shengyin’s response was to pay the crystal coins to the owner and collect the Slender Grass from his hands into her Space Ring.
“You!” Joanna was infuriated; she couldn’t stand the haughty deanor of the Roman Family, as if she was just a clown in their eyes.
Gu Shengyin thought, I’m not taking the bla for this; due to my stoic nature, I can’t offer you a smile.
“Veronica Roman, stop right there!” Joanna fired a Fireball Spell, which whizzed by Gu Shengyin’s clothing hem. If she had not dodged it, her robe would likely be unwearable now.
Gu Shengyin turned around, a hint of anger in her eyes.
Joanna felt sowhat guilty; she had only intended to warn Veronica, not expecting her emotions to cause her to miss her target.
But in front of the Roman Family, she absolutely could not show weakness, she lifted her chin proudly: “I told you to stop. I want the Slender Grass in your hand.”
It was also because Slender Grass was so hard to find that she bothered with the annoying Veronica Roman at all!
At that mont, Vila, who was in Gu Shengyin’s arms, poked her head out and gave a soft ow.
Joanna’s expression changed on the spot: “Is that a Siase Cat in your arms?”
Gu Shengyin did not speak.
Joanna turned a bit pale: “I asked him so many tis, and he would never give it to , and now I see he gave it to you!”
Gu Shengyin suddenly understood why Joanna was so adamant about having the Slender Grass.
She suddenly felt a bit sorry for Joanna, it was just a tale of unrequited love.
But empathy aside, she couldn’t possibly give away Vila’s food!
