Jurors are the key to the entire case hearing. Both of them were terrified of being handed a losing verdict by these very jurors they had selected.

"This idea is probably unrealistic," Chen Tiankuo, who was listening nearby, shook his head with a wry smile. "There are many religious believers in As City. If we draw randomly, it’s inevitable that so believers will be included. The court won’t allow conditional random screening."

The court selects these individuals completely randomly from the personal records of As City citizens. If conditions were attached, it would violate the jury system, and the court wouldn’t permit it. The best course of action now was to filter out the devoutly religious and those who had made donations to religious organizations, thereby reducing the difficulty of the upcoming trial. Otherwise, this case would be as difficult as scaling the heavens.

However, after hearing their discussion, Qin Mu shook his head. "Just these five. Send the remaining nineteen back and have the court select new ones."

The three were stunned. Again, they looked perplexed, unsure of what Qin Mu was planning. No matter what they said, Qin Mu didn’t reveal his reasons directly. They examined the profiles of those five people over and over but couldn’t see anything special.

"Actually, faith isn’t the most important thing," Qin Mu said, looking at the three before him with a slight smile as he offered a reminder.

It’s true that a jury can influence the judgnt of a case; it’s crucial. But for this particular case, it wasn’t necessarily about picking non-believers. Having non-believers on the jury, at best, wouldn’t benefit the opposition, but it wouldn’t particularly benefit their side either. What he needed to do was select a group of jurors who would lean towards their side when making a decision!

「anwhile.」

In an office at a law firm in As City, George and Xu Liming were seated opposite each other, discussing legal strategies for the upcoming case. However, compared to when they started, they were now one teammate short.

"Zhao Wan’s case has already been filed for investigation, but I guarantee they won’t find a single penny of where the funds went!" Xu Liming declared to George, his voice grave. "As for the courtroom defense, that’s on you." He paused for a mont, then added, "Rember to get him into a better prison."

This ti, to resolve the trouble, he had decisively chosen to sacrifice his assistant. Zhao Wan had followed him for several years. Xu Liming had personally brought him over from China, and Zhao Wan had made a fair amount of money with him. It was about ti he made this sacrifice. As for Zhao Wan’s relatives and family, Xu Liming had already made a promise. As long as Zhao Wan took all the bla, Xu Liming would deliver a sum of money to them on his next trip back to China. This would ensure Zhao Wan had no lingering worries. He could also arrange for all the money Zhao Wan had made on the side to be transferred to his wife and children.

"Don’t worry. Embezzling a few hundred thousand won’t lead to a very long sentence," George said with a smile and a nod. He was an old hand at this kind of thing; it was far from the first or second ti he had done it.

"By the way, for Zhang Qingyuan and Feng Cuihua’s case, I’ve already confird the jurors. The opposing defense attorney should be confirming the list right now," George suddenly ntioned after they finished discussing Zhao Wan’s matter, moving to the crucial topic. His expression beca slightly more serious.

This ti’s opponent... is significantly different from previous ones, he thought, even feeling a hint of apprehension. Therefore, he put in extra effort when selecting the jurors. All the jurors were filtered to be those with religious beliefs. With that, when the trial began in two days, he would be like a tiger with new wings, and his chances of winning would be much higher. Losing was hardly a possibility.

"Don’t be too complacent. I... I’ve already had soone gather information about this lawyer from China," Xu Liming said, inhaling deeply. With a grave expression, he uttered three distinct words, "He. Is. Fierce."

As he spoke, he placed a printed docunt on the desk in front of George. On it were all the details his contacts in China had gathered about Qin Mu. After reading it, Xu Liming himself had almost been scared out of his wits. It took him quite a while to recover. The docunt recorded all the cases Qin Mu had been involved in. Each one was startling. So were even more outrageous than the international cases Xu Liming had seen.

Fierce? How fierce can he be? George raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "I admit he has so skill, not what you’d expect from a trainee lawyer, but compared to ... he still falls far short."

Xu Liming’s mouth twitched, and he knocked on the desk. "Don’t be so quick to brag. Finish reading the docunt first."

George glanced at Xu Liming, seeming hesitant. He thought Xu Liming was overreacting. Still, he patiently reached out and opened the docunt on the desk.

He scoffed, casually flipping through the pages. "Hmph. I’d like to see just how fierce he can be."

But as he read on, the smile on his face suddenly froze and gradually faded. His complexion grew increasingly stiff. The cases listed one after another continually shattered his understanding. Especially the massive lawsuits against three thousand and then fifteen thousand people—that was taking outrageous to a whole new level, utterly absurd!

Suddenly, the office fell into utter silence, the only sound George’s occasional sharp intake of breath.

After a long while, when Xu Liming saw George had almost finished reading, he snorted contemptuously. "There’s always soone better out there. These cases he’s handled—are you sure you could do the sa?"
