Clara Philips dragged Jovana Shaw back to the hospital room, "When we go back later, make sure you present yourself well in front of your dad. Don’t let Aurelia grab all the attention, okay? Your dad has suspicions about us now, you really need to perform well."
Aurelia Shaw pushed open the hospital room door, and saw Balthazar Shaw sitting on the hospital bed, holding a newspaper in his hand.
Hearing the sound, he looked up and saw Aurelia. A slight smile appeared on his wrinkled face, but when his eyes skimd over her hospital gown... his expression suddenly changed.
"What’s with the clothes you’re wearing? Are you hospitalized too? What’s wrong with your body?" Balthazar Shaw asked nervously, grasping Aurelia’s hand, his gaze sweeping over her up and down.
"Why is your face so pale," he said, "You’ve lost weight again! Are you not eating well? You should go live at ho, I’ll have Uncle Liu cook for you in all sorts of ways. The food outside isn’t tasty, and it’s not nutritious, nowhere near as good as ho."
Aurelia felt a slight stir in her heart, grasping his hand back, "It’s just a minor ailnt. Are you feeling any better?"
"I’m much better now. If it weren’t for your Uncle Hu insisting that I stay in the hospital, saying he can handle things at the company, I would have been discharged long ago," Balthazar Shaw said.
Aurelia looked around at the surroundings, "It’s indeed not suitable to stay in the hospital long-term. The environnt here isn’t as clean as ho. I’ll ask the doctor later to see if you can be discharged. If it’s possible, you should move back ho."
"Alright." Balthazar Shaw agreed to anything Aurelia said, enjoying imnsely the feeling of having his life arranged by his daughter, wishing she could say more and arrange more for him.
Balthazar Shaw’s inclination to be doted on by his daughter was exposed without reservation.
Aurelia discussed with the doctor, who said Balthazar’s health was fine and he could be discharged. Aurelia imdiately used her ID to process Balthazar’s discharge.
When she returned to the ward, she saw that Clara Philips and Jovana Shaw had returned, both standing guard on either side of the bed. Clara, seeing her, raised a friendly smile and waved her over:
"Aurelia is here, co quickly, your dad’s been asking about you."
Aurelia withdrew her gaze from Clara, handing a stack of papers to Assistant Zhang, "I’ve processed my dad’s discharge, please take him ho. Do you rember what I told you before?"
About checking everything before driving.
Assistant Zhang nodded, "I rember everything, don’t worry, young lady."
Clara Philips’ eyes were drawn to the stack of papers, painfully reminding her of the family ties needed for discharge processing, hitting her pain point. Aurelia had already poked at her sore spot repeatedly.
Clara stepped over and grabbed the papers from Assistant Zhang’s hand, a seemingly casual action that was actually quite assertive.
Assistant Zhang glanced at Clara Philips, daring not to say anything.
Clara smiled at Aurelia, "Leave your dad’s discharge to , don’t worry. I’ve taken care of him for so many years; no one knows his habits better than I do. You don’t need to worry about these things. Are you not feeling well? Take care of yourself more."
Clara’s seemingly gentle words carried sarcasm that only Aurelia could understand.
Aurelia gave a light smile, her voice tinged with laziness, "Our maid has taken care of my dad for so many years and knows his habits well. But my mom, married to my dad for so many years, never lifted a finger in household chores. Don’t even ntion knowing my dad’s habits; it’s the other way round, my dad knows my mom’s habits like the back of his hand."
A perfect retort.
