The bedroom was still as it was when Aurelia left, but so additions had been made, making the room look warr and cozier, like a place soone actually lived in.
He placed her onto the bed, pulled up the covers, and carefully tucked her in.
Aurelia stirred, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, and she drowsily opened her eyes, "Where is this?"
"Nightshade Residence," Mason said, "Have you been awake for a while?"
"Woke up when your mom said it's perfectly normal for you to have one or two won outside," Aurelia murmured.
"Don't listen to her nonsense, there's only you, there won't be any other won. There wasn't before, there isn't now, and there won't ever be in the future."
"Life is unpredictable." The matter concerning Eleanor Spencer remained a thorn in Aurelia's heart; she might not be able to change the future, and perhaps after going around in circles, they would find themselves back at the starting point again.
Maybe Mason this ti won't fall for Eleanor Spencer again, but there's no guarantee Eleanor Spencer won't try sothing.
"Sigh." Mason let out a barely audible sigh, "Aurelia, you need to have more confidence in . I was myself before, and I am myself now. Haven't these months we've been together been enough to make you trust ?"
"I do trust you." It's just so surprises are inevitable even for them.
Mason leaned down and kissed her forehead, "Sleep now, no one will co to disturb you."
"Mm."
Aurelia closed her eyes and fell asleep again.
Mason went downstairs, where Kai Nightshade and Sophie Nye were still there.
Sophie Nye saw Mason coming down and craned her neck to look upstairs, "Where is she? You're just letting her live upstairs like this? You two are already divorced, living together looks bad, once word gets out, how will you..."
Sophie Nye paused, her tone changing, "Once word gets out, it's bad for the woman's reputation, how is she supposed to find anyone else?"
Mason glanced at her coldly, "She's got and that's enough."
"You two are already divorced." Sophie Nye stated firmly, a sharp glint in her eyes, "I've always thought she was not simple, intentionally divorced you, and then kept entangling with you after the divorce, without a shred of sha."
"I'm the one pursuing her now!" Mason's voice suddenly turned cold, his gaze at Sophie Nye as frosty as ice, "As my nominal mother, you should at least show so respect to the woman your son is pursuing!"
"This kind of talk, I'll only hear once, don't let hear it a second ti!"
Sophie Nye shivered slightly.
Kai Nightshade stood up, leaning on his cane, "Mason, co with for a bit."
Mason instructed Mrs. Rong briefly and followed Kai Nightshade to the study.
In the study.
Kai Nightshade sat on the sofa, looking at Mason standing in front of him, he remained silent for a while before asking, "Mason, tell the truth, did you and Aurelia really divorce?"
"Granddad, what do you an by that?" Mason asked.
"Did you really divorce, or does Aurelia just think you did?" Kai Nightshade looked at his grandson, knowing his own grandson better than anyone, if it's truly a woman he loves, would he let her go easily?
Mason stayed silent.
After a pause, he said, "Granddad, between Aurelia and , I'll handle it well, and for this lifeti, besides Aurelia, there won't be another woman."
Kai Nightshade sighed, "I hope you reconcile with Aurelia, because I know Aurelia is a good kid, whenever you're busy with company affairs and don't co to see this old man for months, it's always Aurelia who cos to take care of . I can see she genuinely likes you, and I don't want you to miss out on such a good girl."
