"But if you've really found soone else you like... well, even Grandpa can't stop you." Kai Nightshade sighed, looking suddenly much older.
Mason Nightshade said earnestly, "I like Aurelia, not because of the pressure you've put on , but simply because I like her. She's the only woman I'll ever have in this life, and she'll be my wife."
"You know, if I disagree, no one can force ."
Kai Nightshade knew this about his grandson very well.
He stood up with his cane, "Alright, I won't ddle in you young people's affairs. In any case, make sure to bring my granddaughter-in-law back. Nobody visits on weekends anymore."
Grandpa still had that playful spirit, and Mason's lips curved, "Yes, I will complete the task as soon as possible."
Kai Nightshade nodded appreciatively. He couldn't help but think how, if his militarily talented grandson hadn't co back to support Nightshade Corporation, he might have beco the youngest general already. A sigh of emotion escaped him.
"Mason, back then, Grandpa sent you to the military camp against your will, and later ordered you to co back to take over Nightshade Corporation. Do you resent Grandpa?" Kai Nightshade asked.
His thoughts were stubborn, and most of the ti, it beca a habit. He preferred to command others with a tone of command. Mason's parents were incompetent, so he grew up under Kai's wing, trained in a military manner, with very little of a true childhood. This was sothing Kai Nightshade felt he owed to Mason.
Mason looked down, "No, both going to the military camp and coming back were my own decisions."
Kai Nightshade rembered sothing and sighed, "If Tien Ning were still alive, you wouldn't have had to return to take his place."
Mason's eyes dimd slightly. After a mont of silence, he said, "Grandpa, don't dwell too much on the past. The deceased are gone, and thinking about it will do no good."
He paused briefly and added, "I will find his killer."
Kai Nightshade nodded.

Kai Nightshade was coming downstairs about to leave, but when he reached the door, he stopped suddenly, glancing at Sophie Nye, who had no intention of leaving. His face turned grim.
"What are you still standing there for? Go back quickly!"
"Dad, I still have words to exchange with Mason," Sophie Nye said, smiling.
Kai Nightshade's face was dark, "What words? It's already so late, if there's anything, talk about it tomorrow. Go back quickly."
"Yes, Dad." Sophie Nye unwillingly grabbed her bag.
Kai Nightshade left first.
Sophie Nye went over to Mason, unwilling to give up, "Mason, there are so many won in the world, why do you insist on that jinx, letting her stay over? Who knows what her intentions are?"
"You've had few relationships, so sotis you don't understand won. Won's thoughts run deeper than you think. When she first divorced you, it very likely was..."
"If you're done talking, then go." Mason really didn't want to exchange another word with this mother of his and started up the stairs.
Sophie Nye wanted to follow, but the maid, Mrs. Yong, blocked her path, "kindly" reminding her, "Madam, Elder Nightshade is waiting for you outside. If you don't go out soon, Elder Nightshade might get angry again."
Sophie Nye glared at Mrs. Yong. How could this new maid be so unaware of social cues!
She grabbed her bag and left.
Mason returned to the room and saw Aurelia Shaw lying on the bed. He let out a breath of relief, his heart ward as if a current of warmth flowed through a part of him, a warmth like he'd never felt before.
