"You should be grateful you’re a child of the Shaw Family." Aurelia leaned in to Jovana’s ear, "Otherwise, do you really think I would have let you walk away alive those few days at the cetery?"
Jovana felt her breath like a snake’s tongue, coldly slithering all over her body, freezing her from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, making her shiver suddenly.
"You..." She pointed at Aurelia, her face twisted with rage, ready to lunge forward.
Aurelia smiled and kindly reminded her, "Dad is just upstairs. Are you really sure you want to reveal your true colors so soon?"
Jovana held back and restrained herself from erupting.
She watched Aurelia leave, then turned to look again at that luxurious car that she couldn’t afford even with her current status. Suddenly, her eyes lit up when she saw two flamboyant characters engraved on the steering wheel: Mason Nightshade.
Is this... Mason Nightshade’s car? Jovana couldn’t believe her eyes. Could it be that Aurelia had reconciled with Mason Nightshade?
Jovana hurried to relay this news to Clara Philips.
Aurelia found Balthazar in the study. She pushed the door open and saw him sitting behind the large desk, wearing reading glasses, squinting slightly, holding a docunt, trying hard to see it clearly.
Aurelia was montarily taken aback.
Balthazar noticed her, smiled warmly, took off his glasses, and looked at her with a gaze full of doting affection, "Why didn’t you tell us in advance that you’d be back? Have you had lunch? I’ll have Uncle Liu prepare a al."
As he spoke, he was about to dial the intercom.
"No need, Dad, I ate before I ca." Aurelia sat down across from him, "I have sothing I want to ask you."
Balthazar saw the seriousness in her eyes and couldn’t help but straighten his expression, guessing what she might want to ask about, "What do you want to ask ? Is there a problem with the company? You can ask your Uncle Hu about these things. You’re an expert in managent; there’s nothing he doesn’t know. If there are any financial issues, just let Dad know, and I’ll agree to anything you need."
"Dad, what exactly happened between you and Mason Nightshade before?" Aurelia asked directly, "I know sothing happened between you and Mason Nightshade. You agreed to let marry him, is it related to that matter?"
Balthazar panicked, "Aurelia, don’t overthink it. Dad promised to let you marry Mason, definitely not to use you."
If it’s not using, then that ans... "You letting marry Mason has sothing to do with your issues?"
She pressed her lips together tightly, "Did you do sothing to wrong Mason Nightshade?"
Balthazar’s face was tightly strained, his head lowered, in silence.
After a long pause, he asked, "You and Mason, you... reconciled?"
Aurelia didn’t say anything, but that was as good as admitting it.
Balthazar sighed, but he seed relieved, "It seems, Mason truly loves you, so I was right in letting you marry him back then."
After hearing this, Aurelia guessed so of what happened, "What did you do to Mason?"
"Aurelia, what happened back then involved too much; it’s better if you don’t know. Knowing would not be good for you." Balthazar said, with a bitter smile, "Mason might soon figure it out as well. Yes, even if I hid it as best as I could, there will co a day when he finds out. Dad only hopes that when that day cos, you’ll be implicated, with him around, he will be able to protect you."
Upon hearing this, there was no way Aurelia couldn’t understand. Her father had done sothing wrong, and it was a serious mistake, causing a great deal of harm to Mason Nightshade.
