Aurelia’s eyelids drooped as she felt herself getting sleepier and sleepier.

The phone on the bed vibrated.
It was a video call.
Mason glanced at the caller ID, then slid to answer. On the screen appeared the face of a handso, authoritative man.
It was His Excellency the President, Adrian Cooper.
Adrian caught sight of the person lying on the bed behind him and raised his eyebrows teasingly. "Am I interrupting sothing?"
"If you know, you’d better take the hint," Mason retorted, giving him no face at all.
At that mont, he was shirtless, the small wounds on his chest plainly visible.
Adrian looked genuinely surprised that soone could actually hurt him, but in a flash he realized who it must have been. "Mason, why is it your woman hurts you every couple of days? Never thought of switching to soone else?"
Mason’s gaze instantly turned cold.
Adrian realized he’d gone too far with the joke, and was about to say sothing, when suddenly Aurelia sat up in bed, shouting:
"I didn’t do drugs!"
Mason’s expression tightened as he rushed over and gently patted her back, coaxing softly, "It’s okay, it’s okay, you’re just dreaming. No one here would dare hurt you."
Seeing she had drifted off again, Adrian’s voice sounded, "She rembered sothing from before?"
"Anything else?" Mason didn’t answer his question.
Adrian knew about Mason’s rebirth. If there was a man in this world who understood Mason best, it would be Adrian Cooper.
The first ti they video chatted, he saw it in Mason’s eyes and imdiately asked, "Who are you?"
Mason hadn’t intended to hide it, so he told him everything, including the fact that he might one day "betray" him.
By rights, Aurelia’s existence was a threat to Adrian, possibly costing him his right-hand man.
Eliminating her would absolutely be the best option.
But precisely because he understood Mason so well, he knew if he touched the woman Mason cared about most, Mason would do sothing crazy, sothing that could seriously threaten the country.
So Adrian agreed to help him keep sothing secret.
Sothing involving national secrets, sothing that could threaten Aurelia’s life.
At the sa ti, he helped him investigate the true cause of Aurelia’s death.
Honestly, Aurelia’s ending in her previous life might’ve been tragic, but having soone like Mason to protect her—she really was fortunate.
"How’s the situation in Q City? Didn’t you say that underground organization was connected to your brother’s death?"
"Still investigating." Mason frowned impatiently and glanced at Aurelia.
Seeing her brows furrow in her sleep from the disturbance, he said, "Don’t worry about things here, I’ll handle it. It’s late, you should get so rest."
He was just about to hang up, when a sweet and cutesy voice chid in, "Huh, is that Aurelia? Are you video-calling Aurelia again? I wanna see Aurelia..."
And then...
The video feed went black.
Mason imdiately hit the hang-up button.
On the other end of the video.
Ava Thompson hugged her now dark-screened phone, her eyes red with grievance, tears threatening to spill out.
Adrian Cooper coaxed her while secretly gritting his teeth: Mason, you bastard! You made my wife cry again! So what if your wife is my wife’s idol?! Big deal!
Hmph! Just wait till your wife knows you’re reborn too—let’s see how you talk your way out of that!
