Chapter 1398: Chapter 125: The Banquet (2)

Not only did David hear the sound, but Roy and another female member of the Inspection Group obviously also heard the approaching sound.

The two hostages clearly wanted to find an opportunity to send a rescue signal… but they didn’t dare to move recklessly due to being held captive at the moment.

Their six eyes met, and David distinctly heard the two’s breathing bee increasingly heavy.

At this moment, Roy suddenly shivered, his mouth opened wide, as if he was about to shout loudly!

David’s pupils contracted, and with almost no hesitation, he pounced on Roy—he chose not to use any blades because blood would only alert the bloodsuckers sooner!

He merely used his arm to choke Roy’s neck tightly while covering Roy’s mouth with his hand, exerting insane force!

Roy’s legs kicked chaotically on the ground, and his face turned unsightly due to suffocation—his final struggle before death.

David’s gaze was fierce, choking Roy’s neck while his eyes remained fixed on the passage in front of him.

He even continuously whispered “hush,” “hush” into Roy’s ear… reminding him to be quiet.

“Hush——!”

Roy finally stopped moving, his wildly kicking legs halted suddenly… there was no more resistance, and his body pletely relaxed… went limp.

But David didn’t let go, still choking tightly… until quite a while later, confirming Roy really had stopped breathing, he released his arm.

Beside him, the female member of the Inspection Group was so terrified she didn’t dare to make any more movements.

Meanwhile, the footsteps from a distance started to grow clearer.

David abruptly stood up, unsheathing the Tang Sword from his waist, its sharp tip lightly pressed against the throat of the female Inspection Group member.

Almost at the same time, a voice came through the sewer passage, “There seems to be some motion over there… go check it out!”

Upon hearing the sound, the female Inspection Group member’s eyes widened, she could feel the sharpness of the blade at her throat, but her mouth was gagged, unable to utter any words for help… her heart was about to leap out.

She even saw the madness in David’s eyes!

Finally, David raised the Tang Sword in his hand and swung it down with extreme speed!

Patrolling this area were two patrol guards.

They heard the sound and sped up their pace—yet the pungent smell of blood suddenly pelled them to spread their bat wings, fluttering within the sewer passage.

It didn’t take long for the two bloodsuckers to reach where the smell of blood came from.

Here, they saw a corpse lying at the edge of the trough… blood had already flowed into the trough, half of the body also submerged in it.

Beside that were the Inspection Group’s male and female members… the female member appeared to have fainted in the male’s arms.

“What happened here?” one patrol guard frowned.

Hearing the words, the male Inspection Group member raised his head, showing a reverence almost akin to humility, “Lords, we received a notice to capture the fugitive, and were assigned to the sewers… here we encountered this person, who seemed to be a fugitive hiding here.”

As he spoke, he observed the two bloodsuckers’ expressions… he didn’t let himself bee pletely calm but carried a hint of awe and fear.

Those who know the truth live in constant fear facing bloodsuckers… fear, only fear, prevents bloodsuckers from sensing discordance.

“Did you kill him?” another bloodsucker asked coldly.

He nodded, “Yes… because he resisted and even ambushed us. My panion was knocked down because of this; I had no choice but to lose control in the struggle… I’m really sorry.”

The bloodsucker walked over to the body, flipped it with a weapon, casually glanced at its dirty face… blood continuously flowed from the heart, freshly.

Yet, neither bloodsucker showed any interest—because the body was too filthy to arouse their appetite.

“This should be one of those Revolutionary Army people who escaped amid the chaos earlier tonight.” They quickly judged, “Dead is dead, nothing to regret… you, what’s your name?”

He quickly replied, “Lords, my name is Roy. I’m with Inspection Team Seven…”

“Enough! No need to say it!”

[Roy]’s words were interrupted directly… these patrol guards evidently had no interest in the origin of a person who, after knowing the truth, chose submission over resistance and became a slave.

The bloodsucker who interrupted [Roy] said directly, “Immediately take this woman and the body back! After confirming the identity of the body, proceed with what needs to be done!”

[Roy] quickly nodded in acknowledgment, then got up swiftly, came to the body, and began to drag it by the clothes.

Faced with the stench emanating from the clothes, [Roy] even made a retching gesture, but appeared bravely resolute, enduring the task.

Under the gaze of the two bloodsuckers, he quickly dragged the body out of the trough, then swiftly carried the unconscious woman, humbly said, “I will take the body back now, lords! Anything else you want me to convey?”

“Nothing more, leave!” one bloodsucker said casually.

The other bloodsucker scrutinized the surroundings of this section of the sewer, seemingly trying to discern something… [Roy] nodded silently, then left their sight, carrying the woman and dragging the body with difficulty.

“Wait a moment!”

But after only a few meters, the bloodsucker’s voice sounded again.

[Roy]’s pupils constricted slightly but without hesitation, quickly turned around, showing a flattering expression, “Any other instructions, lords!”

One of the bloodsuckers suddenly tossed something… it was a silver badge with some number engraved on it.

The silver badge rolled to [Roy]’s feet… he didn’t know what it was but hastily picked up the badge.

The bloodsucker who threw the badge said calmly, “Next time you go to the blood bank to donate, show this to the station chief. He’ll know to reward you more… as a reward for killing the fugitive this time.”

Even as a member of the Inspection Group, there was still an obligation to regularly donate blood to the clan—after all, their blood is much purer than that of modern humans.

The descendants of ancients, though no longer favored by higher-level Aristocrats, were still premium food for lower-level vampires within the clan.

[Roy] gratefully held the silver badge in his hand, barely stopping himself from kneeling, “Thank you, lords! Thank you, lords! Thank you, lords!”

“Alright, get lost.” The bloodsucker waved a hand… too familiar with the humans in the Inspection Group being servile and fawning in daily life.

[Roy] finally lifted the clothes of the corpse again, carrying the woman on his back, and struggled to slowly walk out of the sight of the two bloodsuckers.

He never walked too fast to avoid arousing suspicion in the two bloodsuckers.

Until he vaguely heard some of the conversation between the two bloodsuckers and finally heard the sound of them leaving, he continued to walk a little further before finally stopping.

Releasing the dragged corpse, [Roy]… and David also threw the woman from his back directly onto the ground.

“I know you’ve woken up, stop pretending.” David gazed coldly at the woman lying motionless on the ground.

Yet the woman still didn’t move at all… David sneered, casually pressed the scabbard against the woman’s cheek, then pried open her mouth, which made the woman hurriedly open her eyes, full of supplication.

“When did you wake up?” David asked directly.

The woman didn’t dare hesitate, quickly replying, “Not long ago…”

David glanced at her, suddenly said, “Not long… was it when the two bloodsuckers were still around? Why didn’t you call for help? You obviously had a chance to get out of danger, even getting the bloodsuckers to catch me.”

“Yes… that’s right.”

Facing the knife pressed against her cheek by David, the woman still feared, her voice slightly trembling, “But… but I couldn’t be sure, even if I exposed you, whether you would harm me first… It was too dangerous.”

David said indifferently, “Then how can you be sure, that after I deceived them, I wouldn’t hurt you?”

As he spoke, he looked at the corpse on the ground—the real Roy.

The meaning was very clear—as he could kill Roy, he could naturally also kill her.

“The same trick isn’t used well a second time…” The woman’s voice was still low, like a student in class facing a teacher’s question without confidence, with a hint of hesitation, “And even if it happens again, you… you killing me wouldn’t matter…”

David said nothing, just snorted softly.

The woman raised her head, at this moment she was free from any restraints, fully capable of resisting, yet she chose not to move, “Actually, I am… I am relatively familiar with the environment of [Farm]…”

“What are you trying to say?” David crouched down, staring into her eyes.

The woman swallowed, “I want… want to escape from this place!”

“You want to?” David couldn’t help but furrow his brow.

The woman quickly nodded, “You should be from the Revolutionary Army, right? Although the clans always prohibit spreading news of the Revolutionary Army, we’ve heard a little. Rumor has it, you have established sanctuaries for humans in the [Non-Human Domain], where humans can live normally… like we used to.”

“You want to go?”

“I want to go!”

The woman said eagerly, “I’ve always wanted to! I’ve even been looking for opportunities all along! Here… [Farm], we probably can’t stay much longer! The Aristocrats… they, it’s said they plan to disband the Inspection Group and stop using the subjugated adults in the future. After the children on [Farm] reach adulthood, they’ll all be sent directly to the [Breeding Farm], whereas we might be sent directly to the [Slaughterhouse]… because I’ve heard, the harvests from each [Farm] haven’t been great over the years, all the clans plan to start saving on unnecessary expenses and…”

“And maximize exploitation.” David sneered.

The woman lowered her head in despondency, not denying this… many like her, after reaching adulthood, sold everything they could to finally bee slaves to the bloodsuckers.

Although being a slave meant not being sent to other functional [Farms], they still had to let the bloodsuckers dominate their lives.

“Aren’t you afraid that I might suddenly kill you along the way?” David asked abruptly.

The woman gritted her teeth at this moment, “You won’t… if I have value to you, you won’t. Because I know, you’re not as righteous as you seem… You’re a selfish and ruthless person! As long as there’s something beneficial, you won’t refuse it!”

“What are you saying.” David looked at her with an expressionless face… Truly expressionless.

The woman quickly said, “You killed Roy, didn’t you?!”

“What does that prove?” David sneered.

The woman said, “But in front of that woman, you weren’t speaking like this… Didn’t you just say those pretty words to her, have you already forgotten? But I heard it, Roy heard it too… The only difference is that Roy is dead now, after you said those pretty but big words.”

David said nothing, just looked at her, his hand gripping the hilt of the Tang Sword, fingers gently tapping.

The woman’s breathing started to grow heavier, obviously getting more nervous.

Suddenly.

“You’ve lost your value.” David said calmly, “As you said yourself… the same trick isn’t used well a second time.”

The woman quickly said, “I know your plan… you intend to infiltrate the [Breeding Farm] via the sewers and find a chance to leave when it gets light, right? But I can assure you that at the entrances to the [Breeding Farm], the Aristocrats have guards… Do you think they haven’t considered that children from the [Farm], or people like us who have been subjugated, might secretly use this sewer?”

David had also considered this issue… maybe the Revolutionary Army’s leader ultimately didn’t adopt Meila’s suggestion about the sewers for this reason.

“If I take you with me, can we get through?”

The woman urgently said, “At least I have proof of passage! We can go through the gate openly without using the sewer!”

“Oh… so you have proof of passage on you.” David chuckled.

The woman’s expression changed slightly but remained calm, “Even if you have a pass, can you handle any unexpected situations along the way? Remember, you’re not the real Roy… but me, I’ve lived here for a long time! The guards at the checkpoints could call my name! You will need me!”

“Aren’t you afraid I might suddenly abandon you?” David said lightly, “You know our chances to leave safely aren’t high… Following us might increase the risk of failure. But conversely, if you stay, you can still survive for a while, and who knows, the bloodsuckers might suddenly change their minds and not retract those who have been subjugated.”

The woman looked at David at this point, smiled slightly, “You are saying those nice words again, aren’t you?”

David suddenly chuckled, then sheathed the Tang Sword, and said calmly, “What’s your name?”

“Reynas!”

“Remember.” This time David said expressionlessly, “If you have any intention of going around my back, I will not hesitate at all.”

The woman… Reynas saw the ruthlessness in David’s eyes and nodded instinctively.
