"Great." I smiled at her, then turned to Vincent. "Any objections?"
"I object," Vincent said imdiately.
But before he could toss in another one of his objections, I went ahead and silenced him with a single gesture. Then, I grabbed Jenna, and without an ounce of hesitation, I used black lightning to vanish out of sight and suddenly reappear a few dozen kiloters off the ground.
As it so happens, we reappeared above a mountain, and that mountain had a few holes in its side, leading down into a giant cave. This was similar to the area where I had gotten my Clorafite Weapons.
Speaking of Clorafite Weapons... I have the ★Object Morph (Lv.1) ability, and yet I haven’t used it yet. I should really make a sword for myself one of these days.
Maybe I should just do it after I’m done here?
Anyhow...
"What can you do, exactly?" I asked, holding onto Jenna’s waist and keeping her from falling to her death.
She seed to be afraid of heights, as even after I called out to her, she just clung onto like so sort of pest and trembled in her boots.
Realizing that I wouldn’t really get through to her, I decided to just protect her regardless of what she could do. After all, Vincent’s not really my enemy. He’s a conflicted ally... maybe?
His illusions would be very useful in the future, so I needed him on my side no matter what. What better way to get to his side than to charm his daughter?
Is that how the saying goes?
Well, anyway...
I descended atop the mountain and then set Jenna down onto the ground. Once it seed like she wasn’t in danger of falling to her death, she let out a sigh.
"I hate heights."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. I have wings too, but my father never lets use them."
I rolled my eyes.
"Don’t you think it’s only because he doesn’t want to see a more demon-like side of you?"
She paused for a mont. "Maybe... I guess I’m just way too naive. Even my father doesn’t trust or take seriously."
"..."
That was very dark.
I had noticed it before, but she really had no self-esteem. As for self-respect, was there any? I felt like she was soone who would get tossed into a situation and then not say a word. That was probably why she went along with sothing so dangerous as eting the demons in the first place.
But unlike Vincent, I didn’t have the sa train of thought. In my mind, since she resembled a demon, she’d be treated like a demon. There was the caveat of her being a woman, but from what I noticed... she wasn’t that charming.
Her skin was patchy and leathery, and her crimson horns were cracked and uneven. All she needed was so skin care and polishing of her horns to be beautiful. But I didn’t want to make her a total beauty for starters, since God only knew what would happen to her in such a shitty place like this.
Anyhow, I quickly found the ledge of the mountain that had a neat little mountainside staircase leading downward. I gestured at Jenna to follow , and with slight reluctance, she did. She was afraid of heights, so walking down the steps was especially difficult for her.
But her need for so demon interaction was greater than her fear of heights. Persevering, she eventually ended up in front of a hole in the mountain, the one that led directly to the bottom of the cave.
From all the way up here, I could feel the presences of thousands of demons. Not to ntion, the Demonic Energy was thick in the air. I would absorb it, but since I could feel a Grade 40 demon down there, I felt like I’d be spotted.
So for all intents and purposes, I decided to act completely neutral here as I moved aside and gestured at the hole leading downward.
"You’ll find demons at the bottom."
"...Are you sure? I won’t get kidnapped, will I?"
"Nope. Just watch your step. If anything, I’d recomnd you use your wings to fly down, since you might actually break a bone or two."
Obviously, I was just saying that. While she wasn’t looking or paying any attention, I had reinforced her body to extre lengths with my Telekinesis. It was to the point where she could most likely fall from the top of the world and not even get a scratch.
By the sa logic, she wouldn’t even get a single bruise if she were to fight with a Grade 40 demon at the mont.
But she didn’t need to know that.
"Wings... Wings. Okay. But don’t tell my father. Okay?"
I nodded at her with a smile. "Naturally."
She flashed a look of gratitude, and then before I knew it, she began to squint and tremble. In the next instant, wings burst from her back.
I thought that would be the end of the surprises. I really did.
But for so reason, the mont her wings burst out from her back, I was surprised to see completely white wings, not belonging to a demon, but instead, a literal angel.
More importantly, there wasn’t just one pair of wings. In fact, there were three. The only piece of literature that seed most fitting for sothing like this was one of those religious texts. Beings like this were referred to as Arch Angels.
But that’s impossible.
Angels in this world weren’t traditional angels. For her to have such wings, and also Demonic Energy... none of it really made any sense.
But since her wings looked far more holy than even Kai’s, I knew that her identity must be kept a little more confidential.
So for the ti being...
"Retract your wings. They’re a bit... too fancy for demons to see. I’ll just use my Telekinesis to bring you down to the bottom, okay?"
