"Okay." Jenna agreed, and through her enthusiasm, she opted to go down imdiately. She didn’t even wait for to say anything else, maybe a word of advice or sothing.

Though, it’s not like I had anything else to say aside from ’good luck’ anyway. Still, as I watched her descend into the cave, I did feel a little bit of unease.

What kind of being was she? Why would she have those kinds of wings? Was she the descendant of so kind of Divine Beast? Maybe her mother was an Angel, and because of Vincent, her wings mutated?

There were so many questions I had, and yet so few answers to them.

Regardless, I decided to sit down, and after getting comfortable, I used my Mystic Eyes to follow the energy trace belonging to none other than Jenna.

I realized that if I focused on the energy of an already existing being, I could kind of see everything through their eyes, and even hear everything. Though, that was the limit, as I couldn’t sense their actual body or feel anything.

But hearing and sensing were enough.

Though, I was a little puzzled by how clumsy she was. Every ti there was a rock, she would trip on it and nearly fall. The only reason she didn’t die on her way down was because of my Telekinesis’s protection.

In the end though, when she finally reached the very bottom, the first ’people’ she saw was a group of demons. All of them were dressed in fancy leather armor, and all of them wielded swords.

This seed like a powerful division of demons, and yet, when they saw Jenna, the first thing they did was give her a bow.

"Didn’t expect any new arrivals. Get in quickly, as you might just get caught in the crossfire."

Jenna froze for a mont. Even though I couldn’t feel much, I was sure that this was one of her first actual social interactions. She had no idea what to say or how to act.

But it seed like she didn’t really need to think that hard about it, as the demons just smiled at her.

"There’s no need to worry, young miss. Enter the cave and go grab so food. Our military rations had been handed out a few hours ago, so you might still have so left. If you want treatnt for your burns, also visit the pharmacy. We have plenty of ointnts that could heal such injuries in an instant."

The demons were nice.

Not deceptively nice either. I could vaguely sense the energy around them, and it didn’t contain a single trace of malice. I was honestly surprised, not expecting demons to be so nice to Jenna.

More importantly, I had half expected them to bully her because of her appearance. But surprisingly enough, demons were far more civilized than humans, especially when it ca down to basic etiquette.

And so with that in mind, Jenna just blankly walked past them and entered the underground city. Her knees were trembling nearly as much as her hands, and so without aning to, she kept bumping into other demons.

But none of them actually threatened her or retorted. In fact, seeing her appearance, they recomnded that she eat more.

She was very lean, and with how many clothes she was wearing, it was almost hard to tell that she looked like a complete and total stick.

As she was in the midst of exploring though, a certain bulky demon appeared in front of her. I readied myself, prepared to snap his neck and kill everyone in the cave, but to my surprise, the demon simply leaned down and handed Jenna a bowl of soup.

"They said there’s a newbie in town, so welco aboard. Sorry for not finding you sooner, I had to drag our fire wielders and make them heat up the soup. It’s delicious, so don’t hold back, okay?"

She reached out for the bowl of soup and took it. Picking up the spoon, she sipped on the soup in front of the man. I couldn’t taste it, but she could.

And from her tears that suddenly began to pour and land into the soup, I knew for a fact that she needed this.

This mont of appreciation, and this feeling of actually mattering to soone past the point of selfishness. When was the last ti she had eaten any normal food?

When was the last ti she even talked to soone other than her father?

Honestly...

This made want to kill Vincent and take her all for myself. Obviously, I didn’t want to take her in an obsessive manner, but I felt like if I put her with people who could actually make a difference and treat her properly... she would beco a valuable asset.

Yet right as I had that thought, I abruptly halted.

Seeing people as assets... Just how far did I fall? Is my sanity so ruined?

No...

Maybe it’s just being realistic. At this point, I wasn’t even sure anymore, since the world was so fucked up, being normal was just impossible.

Whatever the case may be though, I continued to watch the interactions that Jenna went through. From eating food, to slightly talking to so people. There were so won too, and they were particularly nice.

In the end though, she made her way to the pharmacy, not expecting much. But once she t with the woman who owned the pharmacy, everything changed.

"Mm... It doesn’t look like burns. It’s more like skin tearing and built-up dead skin," the woman said, inspecting Jenna closely.

"If I had to guess, you didn’t shed your skin after going through puberty. Not to ntion, you never actually trained your body or your energy, which killed most of the cells around your body."

Jenna blinked in confusion, not understanding anything.

That is why the woman continued:

"Don’t worry. You’re not the first person I’ve seen like this. I can help you."
