"Expecting soone?" Orros muttered, cracking his neck as a distasteful expression colored his face.

He was starting to get a little tired of being interrupted. But as he heard the new arrival’s words, his figure suddenly paused as his brows arched, a thoughtful look on his face.

So Greyson had a plan all along. The thought caused his face to drop. And if that wasn’t enough, what kind of figure was enough to paint his face with assurance?

Another C-rank being? A peak D-rank being at least? A powerhouse he hadn’t planned for!?

As his thoughts spiraled, a tinge of fear crept onto his face as his heart thudded rapidly while he tried to calm himself.

"No... no... it can’t be," he muttered repeatedly as he went through the feasibility of it all at the back of his head.

There were few powerhouses in Tempest City capable of posing a threat to him. And of all of them, he doubted any would want to make an enemy of him just to save off a dying figure.

Unless it was an unaccounted powerhouse, but to seek help... it would surely take more than a few hours considering that would be from other bases and cities.

The longer he thought about it, the longer his brows furrowed... it just didn’t make sense.

Just as the thought ford, an explosion echoed in the distance, instantly drawing the attention of all the figures present.

They could see a mass of unending darkness slowly stretching out to encapsulate a thousand ters.

At its center, few could see it. But as the powerhouses narrowed their eyes, the outline of a dark-robed youth popped up.

Causing Greyson to yell out,

"It’s him." A chuckle slipping past his lips, all thoughts about his impending death montarily forgotten.

The other elders followed suit as their faces lit up joyfully, hope flushing their faces.

Deeper in the Greyson Residence, Seraphina’s face dropped as she looked into the distance where a mass of darkness now hovered.

And as it inched closer, she could feel the aura slowly wrap around the residence, causing her eyes to widen slightly.

The aura... it far exceeded the normal threshold any E-rank being could possibly wield, pushing her to an assumption as her mouth opened to whisper,

"A D-rank being?" She should know, having been stuck at peak E-rank for years.

What were they doing here? That was patriarch-level power! Had any of them suddenly decided to get involved? But... as far as she knew, no patriarch wielded the power of darkness.

As all these thoughts clawed at the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but yell inwardly watching the darkness draw closer with every second. What was happening!?

Her thoughts were suddenly disrupted as cheers swept through the crowd of the remaining Greysons, so of the murmurs drifting into her ears, causing her lips to twitch rapidly.

"Hahaha... The young lord is back! Prepare to be fucked, you crazy bitch!"

"You thought you could get away with this? Hmm, think again!"

"Ha! Yeah. If it wasn’t because he has returned, I would have dealt with you myself."

"Wait... aren’t you the guy that went out to hide?"

"Hmph. You saw wrong. Even if I did... it was to prep for this mont."

"Wait... sothing isn’t right... isn’t the young lord at peak F-rank?"

"Tell that to that fucking aura!"

"You’re right. Even if I got incinerated to ashes... I would still recognize it."

"But it all just seems surreal... breaking through F-rank to wield this power... this rate of growth. I don’t think my mind can keep track of it anymore."

"My whole life’s been a lie."

As all these thoughts cycled at the back of their heads watching the mass of darkness, one flared the brightest, remaining unspoken as they held onto their hopes.

Could he sohow overturn the situation and bring back peace and order to the clan?

They could only wait to see how the events would unfold.

Elsewhere in the Greyson Residence,

"I failed, again," Lyra muttered as she stared at the projectile sticking through Amber’s torso as life slowly drained from her body.

She had promised to protect her, but she couldn’t keep it. As the thought pressed on her, tears welled across her face. Watching blood slowly pool to the ground.

Tara and Alia stood at the side, their expressions not far better than Lyra as they stared, horrified at the sight.

With their attention and concentration widened, one figure had slipped through them and drove a massive slab of ice down Amber’s torso.

They had already killed the figure, but the damage was already done. The vitality potions they had chugged down her throat seed to only prolong the inevitable.

If she were to die... they wouldn’t know how they would face Ulric with the news. This was all just too horrific.

"This is all my fault," Lyra muttered, tears falling freely down her cheeks. If she hadn’t told them to expand their range of defense... then all this wouldn’t have happened. Amber would still be fine.

Taking in sharp breaths, Amber lifted her hands slowly, fighting through the dizziness to wipe the tears across Lyra’s face.

"Don’t worry... it’s not your fault," she managed to let out as a faint smile stretched across her face.

This was the price of weakness, and she was finally paying for it. Looking back, she couldn’t help but agree more as she squeezed her eyes shut.

Maybe this was all for the best. With her F-rank talent... she was destined to remain weak all her life. That would eventually drag Ulric and Lyra down with her. This way, they would be unbound.

Staring at the face of death, she oddly felt no regrets, with only one wish burning deep inside her heart.

If she could see him one last ti... then her life would be complete. He had filled her life in more ways than she could have imagined.

Just before she could delve deeper into her thoughts, an explosion rocked in the distance as she saw a mass of darkness slowly spread out.

"He’s back... just as he promised," Amber whispered, the smile on her face widening.

Lyra turned her head as well, before slowly lowering it in sha. Sensing his presence within the darkness, she didn’t know if she could ever face him again after this.

At the side, as the sisters of death looked up, their jaws couldn’t help but drop as they saw sothing Lyra and Amber couldn’t... or had overlooked.

His aura... even from a distance... it reeked of strength. Far beyond E-rank.

Could he have broken from peak F-rank to D-rank in a single day?

How... how was that even possible?
