Now reading: Chapter 2010 - 2011: Old Mrs. Zhang’s Rebirth at 70—Reformin from Transmigration: On the Gossip Front, a Urban novel by Qi Qi's cat.

Wei He had already moved out of the courtyard, and everyone didn’t have many questions about him coming over daily to pick up the two kids, assuming Li Juan was busy with work.

Moreover, everyone knew Li Juan wasn’t fond of doing housework. After all, she had slapped Wei He a few tis before, so her absence was understandable.

Initially, Wei He was worried if soone asked him what he should say, but fortunately, everyone just greeted him without asking about Li Juan, making him relieved.

Although the neighbors didn’t ask, he worried whether Zhang Yu would ask sothing. However, the old lady didn’t, either; when she saw him picking up the kids, she’d just chat a bit without asking about Li Juan or how he was adapting to the move.

Wei He rushed from work to the courtyard, picked up the two kids, and prepared to return ho. Since moving, he found himself incredibly busy.

Every morning, he had to wake up early to go to the market. If he went too late, he could only pick through what others had left, not to ntion he had to hurry to work. He couldn’t afford to sleep until six-thirty like before; he had to get up at five, or he’d miss his timing.

Weekends used to be relaxing—they either took the kids to the Li family or left the kids to go on dates, shopping, watching movies, or hanging out at parks. Even after years of marriage, they still acted like a couple in love, going to restaurants to treat themselves occasionally.

Life then was relaxed. He’d always wondered when colleagues said they were busy on weekends or having hectic weekdays; what was there to be busy about? Just so housework—how busy could it be?

After separating families, he realized the housework he had never taken seriously required quite a bit of ti.

What worried him even more was that he had eagerly anticipated the separation, thinking once they parted ways, he’d be financially comfortable and live more lavishly.

The reality was cruel—his salary, after deducting rent, went to family als and buying learning tools for the kids and a few books, leaving very little leftover.

This was without purchasing significant items or having social outings; otherwise, they’d have no inco surplus monthly.

He understood why colleagues advised him to think twice before making purchases after learning of his separation.

Because after moving out, Wei He realized he couldn’t tolerate so of Li Juan’s habits. If all his inco went to buying things, how could the household sustain?

Wei He knew Li Juan liked beautiful clothes and tasty food. If he catered to her whims, their salaries wouldn’t suffice for their lifestyle.

Suddenly, he recalled the conversation his parents had with him that night when he brought Li Juan ho—Zhang Yu felt Li Juan was good, with a decent job and family background, but not suitable for the Wei Family or him, as she wasn’t fit for living a sensible life.

Wei He rembered his retort from that night, accusing his parents of favoring his brother, who married an overly demanding sister-in-law, and not wanting him to marry soone with a good family.

He’d said even more outrageous things, but the specifics were forgotten; he just rembered Zhang Yu’s displeased expression and how she never argued again.

"Mom, did you insist on not separating the family because you anticipated this outco?" Wei He stopped Zhang Yu, quietly posing a question he had contemplated for days.

This question had never crossed Zhang Yu’s mind before; surprised by her son’s focus on such a matter, the old lady chuckled, "Does the answer matter?"

"It doesn’t matter anymore; you chose Li Juan, and regardless of the outco, you have to bear the consequences yourself."

"By the way, your mother-in-law ca to confront today." Initially, Zhang Yu didn’t want to ntion it, but since Wei He wanted clarity, she brought up Li Mu visiting.

Ah? Wei He hadn’t expected Li Mu would confront Zhang Yu. He knew the Li Family looked down on theirs and avoided contact whenever possible. How co lately neither Li Mu ca over nor she confronted Zhang Yu?

"She said you hadn’t picked up Li Juan. I told her that’s your business. I won’t interfere, given how her daughter always found ddleso before."

"You’re living your own life; whether you pick her up or not is your decision."

"In short, I don’t want to hear any complaints blaming , the troubleso old woman, for causing issues or preventing you from fetching your wife."

Thinking back, Zhang Yu got irritated, "I raised the three of you, not expecting you to be remarkably filial, but at the very least, don’t let this old bag of bones get entangled in your sses."

"I don’t care how you resolve this, but the Li Family mbers shouldn’t appear before ." Zhang Yu’s face was filled with disdain for the Li Family.

Not to ntion her dissatisfaction with Wei He, "As a man, I don’t expect you to accomplish great deeds; after all, your dad and I are ordinary people."

"But at least be as responsible as your father, rather than shunning responsibilities when faced with issues."

"And is it entirely Li Juan’s fault to have such a personality?"

"Is it only her responsibility?" Although she detested Li Juan, Wei He wasn’t blaless either, "Forget it, I don’t want to see you."

"In my eyes, you two are a perfect match—useless." Zhang Yu felt genuinely perplexed. Despite the original couple being alright, how did they raise these three children? Confounding indeed.

Contemplating such a deep issue, Zhang Yu pondered for a while, eventually sidestepping it. After all, the client wanted her and her husband to enjoy their old age happily, and since she hadn’t ntioned the three unfilial children, they’d just be strangers.

Were they really a perfect match? Wei He initially thought Zhang Yu would loudly criticize Li Juan’s faults, but she said he was also to bla, "I, I..."

Zhang Yu shot an annoyed look at Wei He, who was furious, uncaringly rolled her eyes, and told Wei Dazhi, who’d be ho after overti, "Old man, discuss with your son whether he and Li Juan are a perfect match."

Tired after a day’s work, Wei Dazhi anticipated getting ho, eating, and going for a walk with the old lady, then resting, without handling unpleasant matters—he was thrilled.

Unexpectedly, his troubleso son awaited him here, "You and your wife are indeed a perfect match."

"You say your wife only cares about buying clothes, never considering others, yet you aren’t particularly filial either." Wei Dazhi didn’t hold back.

Wei Dazhi wasn’t aware of the specifics, "You say your wife only cares about herself, but at least when visiting her family, she rembers to buy things and say her mom’s efforts are appreciated."

"Your wife recalls her mom’s efforts, but does your mom get thanked for raising the children and doing housework all these years?"

"Before, you could say you handed over your salary, but didn’t you get refunded when separating? Have you thanked your mom, expressed gratitude for her years of contribution?"

"No, none of you have. You just remain dissatisfied and unhappy because this isn’t the separation you wanted."

"You wanted a separation where you kept your salary to spend freely, while we covered household expenses and your mom continued doing housework."
