Transmigration:The Villain Wants A Happy End Without His BeastHusbands Chapter 112: Xiao-Miao’s Wellbeing
anwhile, back in Water City, within Yishu’s clan manor, Ningyan leaned against the balcony railing, a flute resting loosely between his fingers.
From where he stood, he had a clear view of the courtyard below.
Lan ishan was speaking with Yishu.
She was beautiful, just like the rmaid Zhao Zihan. Her laughter was bright and effortless, and she seed very fond of ishan. She smiled constantly as they talked.
Lan ishan, however, remained his usual calm, impassive, and sowhat unreadable self.
Ningyan couldn’t hear their conversation from the balcony, but he could guess what it was about.
ishan was probably informing her that they would soon be leaving Water City and asking her to continue watching over Hai Miao.
It had been three days since Ningyan’s battle with Mu Yi.
Yet the images of the bodies still haunted him.
Sotis he woke up in the middle of the night with those mories still fresh in his mind.
The blood. The destruction. The lives lost.
Even now, Ningyan couldn’t stop blaming himself for what had happened.
But there was nothing he could do.
He kept reminding himself of that.
He couldn’t see the future.
He didn’t know the plot of this world anymore.
This wasn’t a novel to him now.
It was his life. A life he needed to take control of.
And soon, he would have to face his stepmother.
Ningyan scoffed quietly at the thought.
First it had been escaping Yan Wuhen’s grasp.
Now it was Madam Qin Linhua.
He really should have seen this coming.
Down in the courtyard, Yishu suddenly burst into laughter at sothing Lan ishan had said.
ishan looked faintly surprised that she was laughing.
He was terrible at reading social cues.
Even when she lightly held his sleeve in clear flirtation, he simply continued speaking as if nothing unusual was happening.
Ningyan found himself staring at the hand gripping his lover’s sleeve.
His expression darkened.
Before he could think better of it, he pushed off the balcony and jumped down.
He landed smoothly in the courtyard.
His sudden presence imdiately drew both of their attention.
Yishu quickly released ishan’s sleeve and looked at Ningyan curiously.
Lan ishan blinked once before a small smile appeared on his lips.
"I apologize for interrupting," Ningyan said.
Then he walked over and slipped between them without hesitation, casually wrapping his arms around ishan’s arm.
Lan ishan’s ears instantly turned bright red at the open gesture.
Yishu smiled slightly at the display.
"Oh, you didn’t interrupt anything," she said warmly. "We were just talking about Xiao-Miao’s well-being. I promised to take care of him."
"There are many children and cubs under our care here," she added. "Most of them will grow up to beco cultivators one day."
Ningyan nodded slowly.
"I’m grateful for that," he said quietly. "He lost his family in a single night. He witnessed far too many horrors. So... thank you."
Yishu tilted her head thoughtfully.
"Then why not take him with you?" she asked. "He seems very fond of the two of you. And you both seem fond of him as well."
Ningyan and ishan exchanged a quick glance.
Ningyan had already asked ishan to keep their future destination secret.
Trust was no longer a luxury Ningyan could afford.
And Lan ishan wasn’t exactly a trusting beast either.
In that sense, they made a very compatible pair.
"I don’t think that would be wise," Lan ishan said calmly. "Not with the war that is approaching. Especially since my own family is involved."
Ningyan added quietly, "And there are still assassins hunting . Many of them are using demon tools."
Yishu nodded with understanding.
"Of course," she said gently. "The obvious."
After finishing their conversation with Yishu, they headed toward the chamber where Hai Miao was being cared for.
When they entered, a female servant was standing beside the bed, gently drying the boy’s damp hair with a cloth.
Hai Miao sat quietly, his small face carrying a faint lancholy that made Ningyan’s chest tighten.
He really didn’t want to leave the child behind.
The boy was simply too adorable.
But the mont Hai Miao saw Ningyan and Lan ishan standing in the doorway, his entire face lit up.
"Beautiful master!"
He jumped off the bed so suddenly that the servant gasped in surprise as he ran straight toward them.
Ningyan burst into laughter.
He quickly scooped the boy into his arms and spun him lightly, swaying him playfully until Hai Miao’s laughter filled the room.
Then Ningyan casually passed him to Lan ishan.
ishan looked montarily startled by the sudden transfer, but he quickly steadied the boy in his arms.
Ningyan grinned brightly. "What were you thinking about before you saw and ishan, Xiao-Miao?"
Hai Miao froze. He suddenly looked like a child caught stealing sweets.
Instead of answering, he simply shook his head.
Ningyan blinked at him. "You don’t want to tell ?"
The boy remained silent.
That sa lancholy expression slowly returned to his face.
Ningyan imdiately tensed.
He glanced at ishan, who was still holding the boy while quietly staring at the damp strands of his hair.
Ningyan sighed softly. "Alright. You don’t have to say anything."
The servant approached them again and bowed politely.
"He still needs to finish drying his hair," she said.
But Hai Miao imdiately shook his head.
"No," he insisted stubbornly. "I want Beautiful Master to do it."
Ningyan smiled at the servant. He took the cloth and brush from her hands.
"I’ll do it."
The servant bowed once more and quietly left the room.
Once they were alone, Lan ishan carried Hai Miao back to the bed and sat him down.
Ningyan moved closer and began gently drying the boy’s hair before carefully brushing it.
Hai Miao quickly beca much more cheerful and talkative.
He excitedly told them about all the dishes he had eaten that day.
ishan sat nearby on a cushion in a ditative position, his eyes closed. His posture was calm and steady as a faint erald glow slowly wrapped around his body.
Even while cultivating, he seed to be quietly listening.
"Do you like it here, Xiao-Miao?" Ningyan asked gently, watching the boy carefully, trying to gauge any emotion he might be hiding.
Hai Miao nodded enthusiastically. "I do! Everyone is very nice. The other children are too."
Ningyan felt relieved hearing that.
He wasn’t about to leave a carefree child in a place that wasn’t safe or welcoming.
And Lan ishan had assured him that Yishu truly loved children.
No matter how he thought about it, this place was the best environnt for Hai Miao.
Even though the boy had spent most of his days playing along the beach and laughing freely before...
This was still safer than the life Ningyan could offer him.
A bitter thought crossed Ningyan’s mind.
He felt like a cruel beast.
Because of him, Hai Miao had lost his parents. Such a sweet child... left alone in the world.
"I’m glad," Ningyan said softly, forcing a gentle smile.
Hai Miao blinked.
Then he let out a heavy sigh.
The boy began playing with his fingers as if thinking deeply about sothing. After a mont, he rubbed the side of his neck where his small scales were.
His gaze drifted toward Lan ishan, who was still ditating quietly.
Then he looked back at Ningyan.
Ningyan had spent enough ti around children to recognize that expression.
Hai Miao knew.
He knew that Ningyan and ishan were leaving.
Carefully, Ningyan asked, "What’s wrong, Xiao-Miao?"
He continued brushing the boy’s hair gently, his violet eyes soft.
For a mont, Hai Miao didn’t answer.
Then suddenly, tears filled his eyes.
His small voice trembled as he finally spoke. "I... I don’t want you and uncle to leave alone."
The words broke apart into quiet sobs as tears rolled freely down his face. "Please.. don’t go."
