After adjusting his mindset, he felt much more relaxed.
In the past, if Su Ziyu had to waste half a day playing with a barbecue here by himself, he definitely wouldn't have had the patience. But now, he actually felt quite pleased. Observing the customs and traditions of ancient Fusang while sipping so fruit wine and enjoying barbecue was a joy in itself.
It's a pity that the wine here is terrible.
Su Ziyu thought for a mont and took out the fruit wine that the Druid had given him. As soon as he poured a glass, the fragrance of the fruit spread all around.
He drank it in one go.
Su Ziyu casually picked up a simply marinated chicken wing and placed it on the grill, humming, "Braised chicken wings, my favorite to eat!..."
There was nobody nearby to disturb him, except for two girls around the age of thirteen or fourteen, kneeling outside, waiting for instructions. They seed to be the innkeeper's daughters. Unfortunately, they weren't very remarkable in appearance, skinny and small in stature, so Su Ziyu didn't let them serve him. If only the rich sisters trio were here, Lady Judith was gentle and enthusiastic, Nicole was excellent at cooking, and Mira looked adorably silly.
"Indeed, I need to learn to relax a bit," Su Ziyu mumbled, applying seasoning with a brush and slling the aroma of the chicken wings.
After leaving Kyoto, he felt much happier, treating this as a journey, roaming along the way, planning to follow the coastline to Edo, and perhaps see what the scenery of Mount Fuji was like.
After a hearty al.
Su Ziyu waved to call over the two young girls outside. They looked a bit timid, occasionally sneaking a glance at Su Ziyu.
"Are there any strange rumors around here? Like harmful demons or sothing?" Su Ziyu asked gently, looking at the two girls.
Demon?
Upon hearing Su Ziyu's words, the two girls were montarily stunned before cautiously replying, "Demon? It's been very peaceful in Owari recently, haven't heard of any demons."
"Yes," whispered the other girl, "even if there were demons, Lord Weasel would drive them away."
Lord Weasel?
This piqued Su Ziyu's interest, and he curiously asked, "What is Lord Weasel?"
Perhaps seeing that Su Ziyu was quite approachable, the two girls gained so courage. One of them, seemingly the older sister, quietly said, "Lord Weasel is just Lord Weasel. It's the mountain spirit that protects this area. When Zhi got lost in the mountains before, it was Lord Weasel who brought her back."
Interesting.
Su Ziyu continued to ask a few questions, but the two girls knew very little, nothing particularly useful ca out.
"As for demons!"
"I have heard that in Sanhe Province, there is an evil Mountain Child! rchants passing by said many people have been eaten by it!" The sister, who had been struggling to get a word in, quickly added, "If you plan to go to Edo, be careful when passing through Sanhe!"
"They say the Mountain Child is ten feet tall, hideous and fierce, even the warriors of Sanhe Province are no match for it."
Right.
In this era, so samurai also know magic. The Five Elents Techniques from Huaxia were not yet exclusive to Yin Yang Masters, and ninjas hadn't been officially nad. During the Asuka Era, they were called 'Shinobi,' and many still held the identity of samurai.
Alright, the next destination is Sanhe Province.
Su Ziyu dismissed the two sisters with a smile, planning to take a tour in the nearby mountains.
Before leaving, he left so money with the innkeeper, asking her to keep an eye out for tuna at the fish market. He still owed that Nine Lives Cat one tuna.
There are not many famous mountains and rivers in Fusang.
Most of the renowned mountains and rivers might be occupied by a Great Demon, and the Lord Weasel the girls ntioned is probably just an ordinary mountain spirit. Su Ziyu planned to take a tour to see if he could encounter it.
He didn't want to deal with the ss in Kyoto, but he still needed to look for demons outside.
What if he could earn so Source Power Value?
Even a leisure trip should earn a little side inco!
As night fell.
Su Ziyu strolled along the road and soon saw clusters of ghostly green tomb fires.
Ghosts appear very frequently in this world, especially at night, so locals almost never go out at night. These were just the lowest level of Tomb Fire, and Su Ziyu couldn't be bothered to take action; he just glanced at them and moved on. Now that the gates of the Netherworld have opened, such ghosts will beco more and more common.
"Wuwuwu!..."
Just as Su Ziyu was wandering around out of boredom, he suddenly heard faint crying.
A demon?!
Su Ziyu imdiately got excited upon hearing it and rushed directly towards the direction of the sound.
Not easy.
He wandered around for most of the night, finally finding sothing.
Hopefully, this one's a big catch. Otherwise, it would be a waste of wandering around for so long at night.
Faint sounds of water flowed in.
There seed to be a river ahead. Su Ziyu, in the moonlight, saw the silhouette of a woman by the bridge, crying. When she heard Su Ziyu's footsteps, she looked up pitifully, as if wanting to say sothing.
But the very next second.
The woman's expression suddenly changed drastically, her face turning extrely horrified, her crying abruptly stopped, and she plunged into the water like a fish, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
"This..." Su Ziyu, looking at the deserted bridgehead not far away, had a slightly baffled expression.
He sniffed himself awkwardly, scratched his head, and muttered, "Did I scare her off?"
Failed at hunting.
It's unknown what kind of ghost that woman transford into, ran off before he could get close, and now, following the water's flow, there's no telling where she went.
It seems he needs to find so powerful ghosts in the future.
Su Ziyu walked up to the wooden bridge ahead, slling a damp odor, sowhat like algae. Nothing was visible in the water, and there was no sign of any ghostly presence nearby; likely, it had run far away long ago.
Looks like tonight will yield nothing.
Just as Su Ziyu was preparing to head back to his lodging, he suddenly heard a rush of wind. Then, a dark shadow erged from the swirling wind.
It resembled a large weasel, standing over a ter tall, watching him with wary eyes as it cautiously spoke, "Who are you? Human? Or demon?"
This is the Scythe Weasel?
Su Ziyu, observing its sharp claws, slowly said, "Scythe Weasel? Are you the Lord Weasel they ntioned?"
This demon seed quite strong.
Probably more formidable than the Nine Lives Cat. It appeared suddenly, riding the wind, yet the Space-Ti Monitor System didn't react, indicating it wasn't a pollution entity.
"Hey! Are you a mountain spirit around here?" Su Ziyu took a step forward, observing its wary stance, asking, "Is there any harmful demon or ghost around here?"
This Scythe Weasel seed to have been worshipped with incense offerings.
Fusang has a habit of worshipping demons, many of whom thus beca deities. If it could gain official recognition, it might beco a legitimate Mountain God. It probably currently only receives offerings from so villagers, much like the tanuki he encountered earlier—these demons might protect ordinary people nearby.
"Are you a Yin Yang Master?" The Scythe Weasel still looked wary.
"Sort of," Su Ziyu nodded.
The Scythe Weasel tilted its head, evaluating him before speaking, "In Sanhe Province, there's an evil Mountain Child that likes eating humans."
"In Yuanjiang Province, there's a New Bride that lures n and then devours them."
Saying this, the Scythe Weasel hesitated a bit before murmuring, "Near Mount Fuji, there's said to be a temple housing a demon nad Qing Ji."
"But I suggest you not to trouble her."
"She's a very frightening Great Demon!"
After saying this, the Scythe Weasel transford into a whirlwind and vanished, seemingly a bit wary of Su Ziyu as well.
