"..." The girl t his gaze in silence, but she was pondering inside. As long as I want to be with soone, can I really be with them?
Trevor withdrew his gaze, and the car headed toward Providence Hospital—
Janelle looked at the rearview mirror again, and her mother was still following. "What do we do now?" she asked him, "Where can we go to be safe?"
"I need to go to the hospital to see my brother," Trevor told her. "We’ll stop at Providence Hospital. You’re free to go after you get out of the car."
But the girl asked out of concern, "What’s wrong with your brother? You have a brother? How old is he? Why is he in the hospital? Is he sick?"
A string of questions revealed her concern.
As for family matters, with Trevor’s character, he wouldn’t speak to outsiders about them.
But facing Janelle, he confessed without hesitation, "A half-brother, born with a rare illness, which delayed his brain developnt and stunted his growth. Thanks to tily treatnt, he’s significantly improved."
Amongst all these words, Janelle grasped onto one key point—
"Half-brother?" She expressed her opinion, "You’re really a caring brother. My dad also married another woman. Although they didn’t have any more kids, if they did, I definitely wouldn’t like them!"
Trevor’s eyes darkened slightly, and he calmly replied, "Children are innocent." He really was mature.
"No!" Janelle complained, "Children are sinful! They’re not the fruit of love! Once there are children, my mom and dad have no chance of getting remarried!"
Trevor understood, she hoped his parents would reconcile.
"Every family is different," Trevor said.
She turned her gaze to him, "What’s different? Isn’t it always best with the first marriage?"
"My mother is no longer alive," Trevor revealed his privacy, "So there’s no chance for them to reconcile."
His mother isn’t alive?
What imnse sadness and desolation? Because she loved him, Janelle empathized, feeling inexplicably sad.
"I’m sorry..." She felt she had opened his wound, "I didn’t an to ask."
"My mother’s death has nothing to do with you," Trevor’s lips curved slightly, lightening the mood a bit, "Why should you apologize? It’s a fact that’s always existed. I’ve long accepted it, and who dares to say heaven isn’t beautiful?"
Such rhetoric left Janelle, feeling guilty, at a loss for words.
But she thought he was a good person, unaffected even when touched upon the softest part of his heart.
Janelle asked no more questions, but Trevor voluntarily told her, "My brother is quite unfortunate. His mother is in prison, with no chance of getting out in this lifeti. Prison can’t be more beautiful than heaven."
"..." Janelle was stunned once again.
Soon, the car stopped stably under Providence Hospital.
She watched Trevor unbuckle his seatbelt and get out of the car, and she imdiately followed.
Trevor glanced at her, casually closing the car door, and began striding towards the hospital lobby.
"Hey!" She quickly caught up with him and grabbed his arm, cautiously turning her gaze and indeed saw Sister Sterling’s car parked outside.
Not only did Janelle see it, but Trevor also saw it.
"Let’s go," she urged him, pulling him towards the hospital lobby, then pleaded with him, "Take with you, please, play along till the end!"
Trevor didn’t speak, maintaining his composure as he walked into the hospital lobby.
Janelle still held onto his arm, showing no intention of letting go, "My mom is so sharp. Please, be a good person till the end, okay? Take upstairs."
