"I don’t want to be sorry." Janelle looked up, placing her hope on her father. "Dad, I don’t know what kind of harmful things Mom might do to Trevor. It wouldn’t amount to company sanctions, would it? Mom doesn’t have that ability."
She was very anxious, very worried about Trevor.
"That’s certainly not the case." Nathan Mills, having seen many storms, appeared calm and analyzed, "From what I know about your mom, she only has one trump card."
The girl held her coffee cup tightly, eagerly asking, "What is it?"
"Threatening to sever the mother-daughter relationship with you." Nathan Mills picked up his cup, took a calm sip of coffee, and continued, "She raised you single-handedly, so family ties are very important to her. Although you two sotis bicker, she’s still your mother."
"Is it really that far?" The girl was surprised, "She wants to sever our mother-daughter relationship?"
"Of course, she wouldn’t really sever it, but she would use it to threaten you. So, when faced with a choice between two, who would you pick?"
"I choose Trevor!" Janelle Mills didn’t hesitate.
The old father was taken aback, "..."
Then he listened as his daughter gave her reasoning, "The mother-daughter relationship can’t be severed; that’s a fact, but if I miss out on Trevor, I might miss him forever."
Nathan Mills looked at his daughter, fully understanding her current mood. After a mont, he sighed lightly, "Your mom is just stubborn."
The girl thought for a mont and confessed to him, "Dad, I’m actually not with Trevor yet; we’re just friends."
Hearing this, Nathan Mills was a bit surprised. He composed himself, "Not together?"
"..." The girl t her father’s gaze, shook her head, and then pressed her lips together slightly awkwardly.
Her father asked softly, testing the waters, "So, do you like him?"
"Yes." The girl nodded, she didn’t hesitate. Just thinking of Trevor filled Janelle with joy.
How could there be such an outstanding man in the world?
Nathan Mills, as an elder with sound values, suddenly seed to recall sothing and asked, "Doesn’t he have a girlfriend? What about that girl? Janelle, no matter how much you like soone, you can’t be the third wheel."
"He doesn’t have a girlfriend." Janelle Mills told her father, "Trevor didn’t want to go on a blind date, so he brought that girl. She has a boyfriend."
"Oh, so that’s how it is." Nathan Mills was also relieved. Thinking for a mont, he asked, "Then, does he like you?"
This question...wasn’t easy to answer. After all, she wasn’t Trevor.
"He probably doesn’t hate , he should like , but I’m not very sure." Sotis she didn’t even trust her own feelings.
Nathan Mills took a sip of coffee, "Don’t worry, on this matter, I’m on your side, and Uncle Dalton will be on your side too."
The girl looked up, slightly alard, "Dad, I don’t want you on my side because of opposing Mom! You’re both my parents, equally dear to . Even though you’re divorced, I still hope you can get along like normal friends, not be enemies!"
"Of course." Nathan Mills was quite magnanimous, "The reason your mom is so stubborn about this is because she’s angry with , so leave this to to handle."
Actually, Janelle had arranged to et her father tonight just to hear him say this, "Dad, thank you." The knot in her mother’s heart could only be untied by her father.
"Don’t say thank you, it’s what I should do." Nathan Mills chuckled softly, his mood heavy, "All these years, I’ve not only owed you but also owed her."
