Dennis Hale placed his phone on the desk, drew a cigarette from the pack, and lit it, taking a deep, anxious puff.
The rings of smoke he exhaled blurred his sowhat weathered face.
He hadn’t slept well these past few days, his spirits were especially poor, and Dennis had lost five pounds.
With his daughter’s wedding imminent, he had countless tis guessed when and where Justin Kingston might arrest him.
At work?
At ho?
On the street?
Would he close the net right after the wedding?
Or would he grant a few days’ grace?
These questions haunted his mind, placing heavy pressure on him. He couldn’t escape; if he fled now, he would be caught imdiately, and his daughter’s wedding would be affected.
For Dennis Hale, living freely for one more day equated to another day of tornt; this freedom was like a cage.
Perhaps only in prison could he have a good night’s sleep.
Downstairs in the kitchen, the chefs were busy. Paige had ordered a few dishes that Finn Morgan particularly liked.
"Madam, you are so ticulous, you don’t even need to ask what your future son-in-law likes to eat; just a little observation and you know his preferences." Sister May complinted.
Paige smiled, "To the one who will take care of our Hailey for a lifeti, of course, we must be attentive at alti. These dishes he definitely loves, and they should be made in abundant quantities."
"Yes, madam." Sister May said, "It’s hot in the kitchen; I’ll supervise, and you go out and rest."
Paige glanced inside, "Thank you for your hard work, rember not to add ginger."
"Alright, alright, I got it!"
When Paige reached the living room, she saw Dennis Hale coming downstairs, "Old Anderson, aren’t you going to work today?" She thought he had already left.
"Not going these two days, Secretary Shaw can handle it."
"You really trust him." Paige took his arm, slled smoke, and frowned, "Why are you smoking again? This isn’t like you."
Before he could answer, a white Maybach pulled up in the yard.
"Hailey’s back," Dennis Hale softly reminded.
Paige turned her eyes to look and quickly headed to the living room door. She went into the yard and soon led the young couple inside.
Hailey and Finn Morgan entered with happy smiles, greeting the elders after stepping indoors.
"Whenever you have ti, co back ho for als," Paige said eagerly, "It’s not far anyway. We have only Hailey as a daughter, and won’t see her as water thrown away after marrying, she’s been cherished since young, and even after marrying!"
"Okay, Mom," Hailey agreed.
"Hey, where did you get this bracelet? It looks wonderful!" Paige’s keen eye caught it, and she lifted her daughter’s hand, "It’s been so years, hasn’t it? Couldn’t have just been bought."
"This was given to by Finn’s mom. It’s Finn’s grandmother’s, passed to Finn’s mom thirty years ago. Finn’s mom has always worn it."
"Oh~" She understood, it’s an heirloom bracelet, already accepted even before the wedding.
Paige’s heart blood with joy. When her gaze fell on Finn Morgan, she suddenly felt a bit awkward, "I haven’t prepared any gifts for Finn..."
"Auntie, that’s not necessary at all!" Finn’s emotional intelligence was high; he pulled the girl close, his voice gentle, "Hailey is the best gift! Thank you both for giving birth to her and raising her. I’m deeply grateful!"
Then he looked at Dennis Hale, "Please, Uncle and Auntie, rest assured, I definitely won’t let Hailey down. I will treat her sincerely, no matter what happens, I will firmly stand by her side, using my life to protect her!"
