"Miss and sir are back?" Sister May ca out of the kitchen, looking at the heartwarming scene in the living room, and cheerfully said, "Lunch is ready, everyone please take a seat in the dining room! We can chat while eating!"
"Thank you for your hard work, Sister May, let’s go, go to eat."
Then everyone walked towards the dining room. Today’s dishes were especially abundant, half of them were Finn Morgan’s favorites, and the other half were Hailey’s.
The atmosphere was festive, as if the air was filled with happiness. Finn ntioned that soone would bring over the wedding dress soon, and Hailey was really looking forward to it.
After lunch.
Everyone returned to the living room. Dennis Hale put his arm around his daughter’s shoulder and quickly said, "Hailey, co upstairs with Dad, I have sothing to talk to you about."
Being so close, Hailey imdiately caught a faint scent of tobacco on him!
As they went upstairs, passing the corner of the stairs, she quietly asked, "Dad, how did you pick up the bad habit of smoking?"
"Is the sll very strong?" He had tried to get rid of it before coming downstairs.
"A little bit."
Father and daughter entered the study; Dennis didn’t continue the smoking topic, and Hailey didn’t ask further.
He walked to the window, leaned on the desk, and held his daughter’s hand, "Hailey, getting married, how does it feel?"
"It feels like a dream." Hailey shrugged with a smile, "And it feels like I’ve grown up, ti flies so fast!"
"Yeah, from now on you’ll be an adult." The middle-aged man expressed so emotion, "In the future, when you encounter setbacks and challenges, you have to learn to face them on your own. That’s how your heart will grow strong. Don’t despair easily; there are many people who have it tougher than you."
"Huh?" His words didn’t make much sense to her.
"Just rember what Dad said."
"In the first half of my life, I had no setbacks with The Hale Family, and marrying into the Morgan family won’t bring any either." Hailey said joyfully, trying to comfort him, "Don’t worry about it!"
"..." Dennis looked deeply at her, his sowhat tired eyes revealing a profound reluctance.
"Dad, why are you suddenly so worried about ?"
Their eyes t, and a pang of sourness welled up in Dennis’s heart. He held his daughter’s hand with one hand and gently patted her head with the other.
Hailey smiled and comforted, "I’m just getting married; it’s not like I’m ending our father-daughter relationship! You’ll always be my safe harbor! Besides, the new house is so close, I can co back often to dine! Don’t find annoying when the ti cos!"
"Hailey, Dad might not be able to be your safe harbor anymore..." Dennis said sadly, feeling a sting in his nose.
Hailey was startled; sothing seed increasingly off?
She then pressed on, puzzled, "Why? Did sothing happen?"
The next mont, Dennis smiled instead, "Letting go so you can fly, that’s how you grow! Silly girl, Dad will eventually grow old and pass away; he can’t protect you forever."
"That day is far away!" Hailey pouted; she was a bit worried at first, but now she smiled and said, "My dad is the best daddy in the world! He’ll definitely live to a ripe old age!"
Hailey, being her carefree self, didn’t think much of it.
Downstairs, Finn Morgan was accompanying his future mother-in-law in a ga of chess by the chess table; they were well-matched opponents, having a lot of fun.
Sister May had just brought over a pot of freshly made tea, also soaking in this happiness.
"Hailey always played with boys when she was little; she thought girls were too fussy, always crying." Paige couldn’t help but start talking about her daughter, telling him about her childhood.
"Maybe that’s why she has such a great personality." Finn said with a smile in his eyes, "It’s a pity I didn’t know her when we were kids, otherwise I would’ve played with her."
