Consciousness returned slowly to Cang, filtered through layers of exhaustion and satisfaction.

The first thing he noticed was warmth. Not uncomfortable heat, just—body warmth pressed against him from multiple angles.

The second thing was a scent. Food. Cooking. Sothing savory and unexpectedly appetizing wafting through the cave.

’Food? Who’s—?’

His eyes opened, adjusting to the dim light filtering into the cave. Evening, maybe? The angle of light suggested sunset rather than morning.

’We slept all day.’

And he moved to sit up, but—

His hand pressed into sothing soft.

Yielding. Warm. With a hardened peak in the center.

A breast.

"Hnnngh—" A feminine moan, husky and tired, ca from beside him.

And Cang looked down to find his hand completely covering the snake woman’s left breast, fingers sunk into the pale flesh, palm pressing against her nipple.

She was still naked. Still coiled partly beneath him, her purple tail providing cushioning, her human torso sprawled out in exhausted sleep.

Her newly regenerated hand was draped across her stomach. Her other hand clutched at nothing in her sleep. And her face—

Peaceful. Vulnerable. The harsh lines of ancient pride smoothed away by genuine rest.

Until his groping woke her.

Her athyst eyes fluttered open, unfocused at first, then—

Locked onto his face. Then down to where his hand was squeezing her breast.

"Please—" Her voice was hoarse, wrecked from hours of screaming. "You’ve already done too much. What are you—?"

She tried to shift away, but her body was still exhausted, muscles not responding properly.

"Even beasts don’t mate this long," she continued, a note of genuine confusion in her voice. "Most couplings last minutes. Maybe an hour if the male is particularly virile. But you—you fucked for—I don’t even know how long—"

Cang grinned, deliberately pinching her nipple between his fingers, earning a sharp gasp.

"That’s because I’m not most males," he said, leaning down.

And kissed her.

Not aggressive. Almost—tender. His lips moving against hers gently, coaxing rather than demanding, and—

Her split tongue erged hesitantly, still learning, both tips touching his lips before retreating shyly.

He pulled back, looking into her eyes from inches away.

"You’re just too beautiful," he said quietly. "I can’t stop wanting to breed you."

The snake woman’s face flushed—pale skin taking on a pinkish hue that was oddly endearing—and she opened her mouth to respond—

"Please forgive for interrupting this sight—"

Both of them froze.

Heads turning in unison toward the cave’s central chamber, where—

Song i knelt beside a small fire, an old clay pot balanced over the flas, steam rising from whatever was cooking inside.

She was dressed now. Or—partially dressed. Her torn robe had been crudely repaired with strips of fabric, covering the essentials but leaving much of her legs and shoulders bare.

And she looked terrified. Hands trembling as she stirred the pot. Eyes downcast, not eting their gazes.

But also—

Determined. Her jaw was set. Her movents purposeful.

Cang stared for a mont, then—

Laughed.

Full, genuine laughter that echoed through the cave, making Song i flinch and the snake woman look at him with confusion.

"You—" He couldn’t stop laughing. "You’re cooking? After everything that happened yesterday, you woke up and decided to make dinner?"

Song i’s face burned with embarrassnt, but she continued stirring.

"I—I thought—" Her voice was small. "You were both sleeping. And I was hungry. And I thought—maybe if I made myself useful—"

The snake woman pushed herself up on her elbows—Cang’s hand sliding off her breast reluctantly—and stared at the human woman with genuine bewildernt.

"What are you doing, human?" she demanded. "I was going to eat you. That was the arrangent. You’re my sacrifice."

Song i’s stirring hand trembled, but she didn’t stop.

"I know," she said quietly. "But—but I can at least eat food before that. Or—or feed him."

She glanced toward Cang for just a second, then back to the pot.

"He—he protected . Carried . I should—repay that kindness. Even if I’m going to die anyway."

The snake woman looked at Cang, who had sat up fully now, his expression showing genuine surprise.

’She thinks she’s still going to be eaten,’ he realized. ’But she’s cooking for us anyway. What kind of logic—?’

And he stood, completely uncaring about his nakedness, his twelve-inch cock hanging heavy between his legs, still slightly swollen from yesterday’s marathon.

He walked toward where Song i knelt, and she tensed—her eyes inevitably drawn to that massive shaft at her eye level, fear and mory making her breathing quicken.

But he just—

Ruffled her hair.

Gentle. Almost paternal. His large hand settling on her head and ssing her dark locks affectionately.

"Good girl," he said simply.

And Song i’s eyes went wide, sothing breaking inside her at the casual praise, at the simple acknowledgnt that she’d done sothing right—

Tears welled up, but she blinked them away quickly, focusing on the pot.

From behind them, still lying on her coiled tail—

The snake woman watched that interaction.

Watched the way the human female’s face had lit up at his touch. At his words. The way she’d leaned into the head pat like a starving person offered food.

’Is this—is this what human partners do?’ she wondered. ’Cook for their mates? Seek praise? And the male gives—affection?’

It was so different from spirit beast courtship. Beasts mated through displays of power, through combat and dominance. There was no—no tenderness. No dostic partnership.

But watching them—

Sothing in her chest ached.

"So—" The snake woman’s voice ca out more hesitant than intended. "You can cook, then? Is this a—a skill that human partners possess?"

Song i glanced at her nervously, then nodded.

"Most won learn," she said. "To—to care for family. For husbands. It’s—it’s expected."

"Husbands," the snake woman repeated, testing the word. "Partners. Males you—serve?"

"Serve and—and support," Song i corrected carefully. "It’s—partnership. Both people contributing."

The snake woman’s tail coiled thoughtfully, and—

Cang grinned, realizing exactly what was happening.

’She wants to act like a wife. She’s trying to understand how human relationships work so she can—’

He turned, walking back toward where she lay, and—

Sat down directly on her coiled tail, treating her body like furniture again, looking down at her flushed face.

"So, my Miss Hiss—" he used the nickna deliberately, "—do you want to learn how to impress your husband?"

"WHAT—?!"

The snake woman’s face went scarlet, her hands moving to push him off—

But he caught her wrists, pinning them to either side of her head, leaning down until their noses nearly touched.

"Who said—who said I wanted—I’m not your—you’re not my—!!"

She sputtered, completely flustered, her usual regal composure shattered.

"You forced yourself on —!" she continued. "Violated —made transform—that doesn’t make you my husband—!!"

"Doesn’t it?" Cang asked, his tone playful but his eyes serious. "I was your first. Your only. I gave you back your arm. Fucked you until you couldn’t think. Filled you with my seed. In beast culture, isn’t that basically a marriage claim?"

The snake woman’s mouth opened and closed, unable to formulate a response, because—

He was right.

In spirit beast culture, mating was permanent. First partner was life partner. And he’d not only mated her, but shown dominance, provided resources, demonstrated power—

All the criteria for an acceptable mate.

"I—I didn’t consent—" she tried weakly.

"You ca three tis," he countered. "Your body consented thoroughly."

"That’s—that’s not—bodies respond to stimulation that doesn’t an—!!"
