The Deceitful Shadows before them were clearly stronger than when Gu Xi first encountered them.
However, their level wasn’t too much higher, with the base Deceitful Shadows ranging roughly between Level 3 to Level 5, yet they seed to have superior numbers.
Most of these Deceitful Shadows appeared human, while a smaller portion looked like long snakes or other bizarre amalgamations.
When they sprang up from the ground, they showed no rcy.
After all, they could tell that the troops led by Gu Xi’s two hero subordinates were at least Level 5.
Given their lower level than the undead, even if they wanted to take advantage of their nurical superiority, they had to unleash their full strength imdiately.
They couldn’t afford to let the battle drag into a war of attrition; they needed to deliver their strongest blow to the enemy in the shortest ti possible, then retreat to the rear to launch guerrilla strikes against the undead, using the advantage of terrain.
This was the strategy of these Deceitful Shadows.

Despite having the advantage in troops, they were dragged into street fighting, eventually turning several areas into flat ground.
Gu Xi had heard of this incident and had reviewed it with Eldest Princess Anna many tis afterward.
The final conclusion was that to avoid getting stuck in such a situation, you either needed a large enough army to overwhelm each area decisively,
or you needed a sufficiently powerful force to steamroll everything, giving the Deceitful Shadows no ti to react.
For this operation, Gu Xi chose the latter strategy — a direct sweep-through.
Mido, being swift, could reach beneath the city walls first to secure advantageous terrain.
With Kaga and Diegu using defensive counterattacks to clear the path of enemies drawn out, Gu Xi’s main force would be approaching the city walls.
At that point, using the number and levels of troops under Gu Xi’s command, they could launch a first wave of impact, undoubtedly breaching into the inner city and clearing everything inside.
Unlike Di Mi’s previous plans, Gu Xi had no intention of capturing area by area.
Gu Xi’s idea was simple: a clean sweep.
Kill all the Deceitful Shadows within Yalidu City of this period and then turn back to occupy the city.

This allowed the undead to focus more on attacking.
They clawed, bit, and continuously tore at the Deceitful Shadows, even trying to swallow them whole.
With their involvent, the battle beca smoother, and Gu Xi’s main forces safely reached the vicinity of Yaliduwei City Wall.
