In an instant, the very color of the heavens and the earth seed to change.
"My God, is that… is that a sword?"
"This, this…"
On both banks of the Qingyuan River, a tidal wave of shouts erupted. The streak of sword light pierced through the void, its sharp aura seeming to threaten the very existence of the world.
"If I, Chen Yang, do not annihilate your Imperial Clan today, I will take my own life here at the Qingyuan River!"
A stunned silence fell over the crowd.
BOOM!
A wave of sword qi, originating from the opposite riverbank, instantly saturated every inch of air in the vicinity. Even the surface of the Qingyuan River was scored with countless invisible cuts. The eight-hundred-ter-wide river now resembled a spiderweb of slashes.
The ground cracked, and sand and stones were sent flying.
"This…"
Tu Shen, his battle sabre already halfway through its swing, felt his pupils shrink to pinpricks. It was as if he had just witnessed the most terrifying thing in the world. The hand gripping his weapon began to tremble uncontrollably.
It wasn't just him. Even Gu Zhiqing, who had been seated quietly in the business-class vehicle observing the situation, shot to her feet. Her stunning eyes, clear as autumn pools, were instantly filled with profound shock.
"That… that is…"
"Haha!"
Not far away, Chen Shangwu burst into laughter. "I knew it! In the Chen Family's hands, the Ancestral Sword would only gather dust! Only you, Chen Yang, could unravel its secrets and unleash the true splendor it was always ant to have!"
CRACK.
Chen Yang's right hand clenched. In perfect sync, the Dharma Golden Body shot out a hand and snatched the surging Ancestral Sword from the air.
WHOOSH.
Chen Yang narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened them again, a brilliant light exploded from within.
"I have a sword," Chen Yang raised his right hand and swung it down toward Tu Shen, "that can slay anyone under the heavens!"
The majestic divine might was as dazzling as a blazing sun. With one slash, the sword pierced the sky, shaking the very heavens and earth.
BOOM!
The sword moved like a dancing dragon, destructive and unstoppable. It descended from above, falling upon Tu Shen, who had realized his peril too late and was already in a hasty retreat.
This sword fell from the sky.
The torrential sword qi poured down like the Milky Way itself, causing the ground below to instantly shatter. Paving stones exploded as a massive cloud of dust and debris swept upward.
Tu Shen's eyes, bloodshot and nearly bursting from their sockets, widened in horror. How could he not see it now? This was a Spiritual Artifact!
The valiant old man, his hair and beard standing on end, thrust his battle sabre out horizontally before him. He held the hilt with one hand and braced the blade with the other, lifting it high to et the attack.
A violent tremor rippled out like a wave.
CRACKLE.
Amidst a cascade of sharp cracks, countless fissures spread across the battle sabre that had been his companion for many years. It was a Treasure Weapon, yet under this single sword strike, it proved as fragile as porcelain.
After a brief mont of resistance, Tu Shen's eyes bulged. The crushing force from above slamd down, and his entire body sank into the ground, which had already been pulverized into dust.
BANG!
Inch by inch, the battle sabre completely disintegrated.
A whirlwind ripped through the area. Countless fragnts of the stone plaza and clouds of dust were violently swept up, turning the spot where Tu Shen stood into a scene of apocalyptic terror.
SHINK!
Almost at the exact mont his sabre shattered, the Ancestral Sword drove onward, unstoppable. With the speed of a lightning strike, it pierced through Tu Shen's chest, drenching him in his own blood.
CLANG.
The tip of the sword struck the ground.
Just like that, the Great Elder of the Imperial Clan was pinned dead to the floor.
The sky remained overcast, the rain unrelenting. The plaza in front of the Chen Family residence looked as if it had been plowed over, covered in rubble and overturned earth—a scene of total devastation.
This single sword strike had crossed the Qingyuan River, looked out over the world of mortals, and pinned the Imperial Clan's second-in-command.
Silence.
The vast Qingyuan River fell into a dead, eerie silence.
Staring at Tu Shen, who was half-kneeling with his upper body twisted unnaturally, his chest impaled by a sword, the crowd felt as if they were trapped in a dream. Everyone stood frozen—ordinary citizens and mbers of the Imperial Clan alike—their hearts pounding with terror.
Who… who could possibly have expected this?!
"Dead? Tu Shen is… dead? Just like that?"
"That sword strike… it's so powerful. Tu Shen couldn't even block it. He could only watch as it ran him through."
A cacophony of discussion and clamor suddenly erupted, spreading through Cangyun City in monts. If they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, who would have ever believed such a scene was possible?
THUD.
Nearby, several mbers of the Imperial Clan could no longer remain standing. They collapsed to the ground, their faces ashen. Countless minds went blank as they trembled uncontrollably.
SWISH!
Chen Yang turned. His Dharma Golden Body, still holding the Ancestral Sword, pointed it toward Gu Xiulan and Gu Zhiqing in the vehicle.
Gu Xiulan was speechless.
The crowd fell silent again.
Only with Chen Yang's action did everyone understand. Though Tu Shen was dead, the matter was far from over.
Would the people from Biluo Sword Valley really let this go?
"Fight!" Chen Yang uttered a single, cold word.
"Hmph!" Gu Xiulan snorted, but she instinctively took a few steps back and addressed the woman in the car. "My lady, you see…"
"That's a Spiritual Artifact, isn't it?" Gu Zhiqing said as she stepped out of the vehicle. Gu Xiulan hurriedly moved to shield her with an umbrella and nodded. "It should be, yes!"
"But how can there be a Spiritual Artifact in this mortal world?"
Gu Zhiqing shook her head, then addressed Chen Yang. "Yesterday, you severed my younger cousin's arm. If you cut off your own arm now, I can let this matter go."
Gu Xiulan was utterly bewildered. "My lady, the Sword Valley's orders were to kill him! And besides, that's a Spiritual Artifact! If we bring that back, it would be a monuntal achievent. The mistake you once made… it might be…"
"Shut up!" Gu Zhiqing snapped, a rare, chilling frost appearing on her usually composed face. "It is not your place to dictate how I act."
That past incident… even if Biluo Sword Valley were to forgive her, she would never forgive herself. She would never have appeared here at all if it weren't for her cousin, Gu Tianxing.
Gu Xiulan's heart trembled, and she imdiately fell silent.
"I know your cultivation was not easily achieved, so I do not wish to kill you," Gu Zhiqing said, looking at Chen Yang with an indifferent expression. "My patience is limited. Do not force my hand."
The crowd watched with bated breath. This woman's presence was overwhelming. And even knowing Chen Yang possessed a Spiritual Artifact, she didn't show the slightest hint of fear.
Chen Yang's expression remained unchanged. "Co."
"Hmph!" Gu Xiulan sneered viciously, venting all her frustration on Chen Yang. "Don't be a fool. My lady is showing you rcy. Otherwise, you would certainly be dead today."
"Old witch, is that any way to talk to my brother-in-law?"
Just then, Shen Shaotian sauntered over. Zhou Zhirou followed closely behind, holding an umbrella over him and occasionally reminding him, "Young Master, slow down. Watch out for the puddles."
"Shen Shaotian?" Gu Xiulan was clearly taken aback and took a couple of steps back, but her words were no less sharp. "What business do you have here? Isn't Southern Dipper Academy overstepping its bounds?"
Shen Shaotian didn't spare her a glance. He walked straight up to Chen Yang, sized him up, and then broke into a wide grin. "Not bad, not bad at all! You're worthy of being Qingi's cousin!
"Rest assured," Shen Shaotian patted Chen Yang's shoulder, "with your brother-in-law here, no one will harm a single hair on your head. You just tell who to kill, and I'll kill them for you!"
Chen Yang was speechless.
What on earth is this?
