Chapter 2887: Chapter 2907: Vast Battlefield, The Ultimate Defense Line

“Are you all ready?”

“We are ready.”

“Let’s go!”

With Lin Chen’s command, the Artifact Refining Hall Master Xiong Yaxiong, the Alchemy Hall Master Hu Yunlai, and the Enforcent Hall Master Chi Ya led ten elite disciples of the Haoran Sect onto the flying boat.

Lin Chen waved to the people who had co to see him off, then flew onto the flying boat.

Officially, he did not bring anyone with him, but inside the Linglong Tower, Zhen Liuxue and Taoist Duan Tian were always there, as well as Tia, the Starry Sky Demon Beast, who had never shown herself.

Lin Chen had only stayed in the Haoran Sect for half a month before he set off on his journey to the War God Temple. After all, the sooner he could retrieve the items, the sooner he could prepare, and the sooner he could arm his disciples.

No one could predict exactly when the all-out war would erupt or when the War God Temple would issue its battle orders. Earlier preparations could an fewer deaths when the battle comnced.

Chen Shuihe had offered to accompany Lin Chen, but Lin Chen had refused him, arguing that soone had to remain in charge within the sect, and Chen Shuihe was the best person for the job. As for collecting the items, both the Artifact Refining Hall Master and the Alchemy Hall Master had made many trips and were very familiar with the process.

Chi Ya had volunteered to accompany Lin Chen, offering to run errands for him if needed. Seeing that she didn’t have much to do back at the sect, Lin Chen agreed.

The journey was uneventful, and they arrived at the War God Temple without incident.

Lin Chen stood at the prow of the ship, taking in the expanse before him.

Above that wilderness stood one high stage after another, each towering a kiloter into the sky, all constructed from solid tal. Not only that, each piece of tal shimred with formation patterns, obviously treated by the Artifact Refiners.

Atop each high stage stood a row of huge spiritual power cannons, their massive barrels glinting with runes, the air resonant with an austere and imposing breath.

In front of the lofty cannons was a magnificent wall, akin to a mountain range, which rose from the ground like sharp blades, protecting all the spiritual power cannon high stages behind it.

The city wall was covered with various rune arrays, flickering with a faint radiance.

Whether it was the cannons on the city wall or the high stages, all were in a state of silence; the formations had not been activated. Yet even so, Lin Chen could feel the unique pressure of a battlefield.

Lin Chen gazed into the distance; the walls and high stages stretched as far as the eye could see, without an end.

How many cannon platforms were there?

Was it one thousand, one hundred thousand, or one million?

How long was this wall?

How many arrays were there?

Such an imnse defensive battle line—what scale of attack was it ant to withstand?

If this battle line were to be entirely filled with the forces of the attackers and defenders, how many people would there be?

One hundred thousand, or one million?

Or perhaps even more?

Lin Chen directed his gaze further afield; if the defensive line was here, then the Immortal Demon Channel should be on the opposite side, right?

Chi Ya stood beside Lin Chen and spoke softly, “Sect Master, do you see that patch of nothingness at the horizon? That is the Immortal Demon Channel.”

Lin Chen narrowed his eyes slightly and nodded slowly.

At the end of the sky and earth, there were no lofty mountains, no sunshine—only a vast expanse of murky nothingness, like a still black hole covering all space, as if it were the end of the world.

Lin Chen turned his head to look at the great stretch of buildings in the distance, his eyes revealing a look of admiration.

“The War God Temple is directly on the battlefield, preparing to engage in battle at any mont,” he mused.

Chi Ya replied, “The Hall Master said that if the Demon Race wants to cross the defensive line and fully enter the Crimson Immortal Domain, they must step over the bodies of everyone in the War God Temple, including him. Otherwise, he will never allow the Demon Race to take even half a step past the defensive line!”

Lin Chen praised, “What spirit!”

The flying boat quickly arrived at the War God Temple. After a series of checks, it landed on a vast open space and ca to a halt.

Upon the open space, all sorts of flying boats, and even fortress-like colossal vessels, were parked densely together. More flying boats were constantly coming and going, an endless stream.

“Sect Master, should we first check into the reception station to settle down, and then attend to matters? What do you think?”

Lin Chen said with a laugh, “It’s my first ti here, so I’ll leave the arrangents to you.”

The War God Temple was not a hall of grand scale, but a city of enormous proportions.

According to Chi Ya, a vast number of cultivators were stationed here permanently. They would regularly rotate duties, but no matter the ti, the city always maintained a terrifying combat power and could summon a large number of cultivators to join the defense war within an extrely short period.

Given the large number of cultivators stationed here permanently, a massive amount of resources and logistics personnel were naturally required, so the population of this supercity was at least several million people.

Under Chi Ya’s guidance, Lin Chen and the others found the reception station—an official reception facility of the War God Temple, specially designated to receive mbers of the War God Temple from various regions who ca here for business.

No sooner had Lin Chen and his group entered the reception station, which looked more like a vast manor, than they were greeted by two n and a woman approaching them. The leading man, his face breaking into an exaggerated smile, said, “Xiong Yaxiong, Hu Yunlai, it hasn’t been that long, and you’re here again!”
