Hours passed.

The castle remained silent, like the whole realm was holding its breath.

The light from the sconces had dimd. The room was dark now, lit only by the soft crimson glow of the blood ward pulsing in the corner. It cast shadows that shifted gently across the obsidian walls, like the past still lingered here, unwilling to fade.

Luna hadn’t moved much.

She sat beside him the whole ti. Quiet. Watching.

Her knees were pulled up, arms resting on them, fingers laced together. Every few minutes, she would glance at him—eyes flicking to the faint rise and fall of his chest, making sure it hadn’t stopped.

Lucifer looked pale. Not fragile, but... worn. His body, normally so powerful, was still. His face was turned slightly to the side, jawline bruised, lips parted. There was blood dried along his collarbone and neck, but most of the wounds had already sealed.

Still, he hadn’t woken.

Luna leaned forward again, brushing so hair from his face with a soft touch. Her fingers hesitated at his temple, then drifted down to his jaw.

"You idiot," she whispered.

Her voice wasn’t angry. It cracked a little. Like it had been held in too long.

"You said you’d stop doing this... that you wouldn’t burn everything just to win."

Her fingers slipped from his skin.

"But you always do. You act like none of us would survive if you don’t give everything. Like we don’t matter unless you bleed for us."

She blinked.

Then wiped her eye quickly.

"I know you’re strong. I’ve seen it more tis than I can count. But that strength isn’t what makes you important. Not to ."

She leaned back, hugging her knees again.

"I don’t care if you’re the Progenitor. Or a monster. Or a king."

Silence.

"I just don’t want to lose you."

She sat like that for a long ti. Breathing slow. Head resting against her arms.

Then—movent.

It was subtle at first. A twitch in his fingers.

Then his chest rose sharper. A deep breath.

Luna snapped upright.

Lucifer’s brow furrowed.

Then slowly—his eyes opened.

Red. Dim at first. Then sharpening. Focus returning.

He stared at the ceiling for a second, confused. Then turned his head toward her.

She didn’t wait.

"You’re awake."

His lips parted. Voice rough, low. "How long...?"

"Seven hours," she said. "You nearly didn’t co back."

Lucifer tried to sit up, but pain flared in his side and he winced. Luna moved fast, steadying him with one arm.

"Easy," she said. "Don’t move too much."

He leaned back with a groan, head dropping against the pillow. "That bad?"

"You passed out with your aura still active. Vina had to douse you with blood packs just to keep your heart stable."

"...Sounds dramatic."

Luna gave him a dry look. "You punched a goddamn traitor through stone. Then evolved mid-air. And then flatlined. I’d call that a little dramatic."

Lucifer let out a weak chuckle, but it ended in a cough.

She steadied him again.

Their eyes t.

And stayed there.

The silence changed.

It wasn’t awkward. Just full.

Full of everything they hadn’t said.

Lucifer’s voice dropped. "You stayed the whole ti?"

Luna nodded. "I wasn’t leaving."

He looked at her for a while. Then reached up slowly, his hand brushing the side of her neck. His thumb lingered under her jaw.

"You’re not hurt?"

She shook her head. "No. Just tired. A little sore. But I’m fine."

His fingers slid back, resting gently against her cheek now. "You were scared."

She looked down. "Of course I was."

Another pause.

Then she t his eyes again. "You keep trying to carry everything alone. Even when we’re right there with you."

Lucifer didn’t speak right away.

He just stared at her.

Then quietly, almost like a confession: "I’ve lost people before."

"I know."

"Good people. Strong people. People who stood by , like you did tonight."

Luna placed her hand over his, still resting against her cheek.

"And I’m not going anywhere."

The words didn’t echo.

They just landed. Soft. Final.

Lucifer’s breath caught for a second.

Then he pulled her a little closer—just enough to feel her warmth against him.

Luna shifted too, her knees sliding onto the bed, her body leaning over his. She didn’t rush. Just moved slowly. Intentionally. Like she wasn’t sure if this was the right mont—but couldn’t keep pretending it wasn’t one at all.

Lucifer’s eyes stayed on her lips as she ca closer.

She hesitated an inch away. Her voice barely a breath.

"Can I?"

Lucifer didn’t answer with words.

He leaned up just enough to close the space between them.

Their lips t.

Warm.

Slow.

It wasn’t rushed, or desperate. It didn’t need to be. It was a long exhale after a storm. A kiss that didn’t demand anything—only gave.

Luna sank into it.

Lucifer’s hand tangled gently into her hair.

For a mont, the whole room disappeared. The war. The blood. The kingdom. All of it faded.

It was just the two of them.

When they finally broke, Luna hovered close—her forehead resting against his.

Neither spoke.

There was nothing left to say.

She smiled slightly.

"You taste like blood and fire."

Lucifer smirked. "Occupational hazard."

They both laughed, quietly.

Then Luna slid down beside him, resting her head on his shoulder.

Lucifer adjusted his arm around her waist, pulling her close. Their legs tangled under the sheets. No tension. No walls.

Just warmth.

Real.

Luna closed her eyes first.

Lucifer stared at the ceiling a little longer.

His heart still hurt. His body still ached.

But for the first ti in days... maybe weeks...

He let go.

And slept.

The light outside had begun to shift. Crimson skies slowly bled into muted amber, casting a soft, warm glow through the tall arched windows of the tower hallways.

Luna stepped out of the chamber in silence.

The door clicked shut behind her.

She paused a second—shoulders back against the door—then closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. The mont between them still clung to her skin. His warmth. His breath. The weight of his hand at her waist. All of it felt real in a way the past few weeks hadn’t. Like she could finally breathe again.

"Luna." Ella rose instantly. "You’re back. What’s happening?"

Vina didn’t speak. Her eyes were locked on Luna’s face.

Luna nodded once and stepped closer. "He’s awake."

Ella gasped. "What? Just now?"

"Yeah," Luna said softly. "He woke up maybe twenty minutes ago. Breathing steady. Still healing, but conscious."

Vina’s arms slowly uncrossed.

Ella walked up fast, grabbing Luna’s arm. "Is he really okay? Like... talking? Moving?"

"He tried to sit up. Winced like hell." Luna gave a small smile. "But yeah. He’s talking. He’s there."

Ella let out a breath she’d clearly been holding. "Thank God..."

Vina finally spoke. Her voice was low. "What’s his state ntally?"

Luna t her gaze. "Lucid. He rembers everything. Still processing it, but... he’s calm."
