Versatile System Chapter 21: Silver guild manual

Trevor slipped silently into her room, ensuring his entry went unheard. Once inside, he imdiately began a quick and silent search through her belongings, certain his mother wouldn’t be long.

After searching for almost thirty minutes, Trevor still hadn’t found anything. He decided it was ti to leave to avoid being caught in the act.

But just before he could leave, a sudden impulse urged him to check beneath the bed. Who knows, he thought, there might be sothing there.

A little hesitant, Trevor glanced toward the bathroom door in her room. Taking a deep breath, he decided to take the gamble. He needed to be fast, or she would catch him.

Diving under the bed, Trevor began searching intently through the many items stored beneath it.

Finally, his fingers brushed against sothing aningful: a small book.

It was titled "The Silver Guild Manual."

Trevor was stunned to see it.

His mission was successful. He quickly flipped through so pages to ensure it was complete and instinctively started to bolt out of the room.

He stopped short. His mother, Mia, was standing right in front of him, a towel still wrapped tightly around her body.

Trevor was shocked.

Had his mother outgrown the towel, or had she deliberately chosen to tie it so short and revealing?

He couldn’t dwell on it. This was his mother, and he was in a tight spot. He needed to leave with the guild manual unnoticed.

Trevor bowed his head slowly as his face began to heat up. He felt a mixture of tension and shyness around his mother.

"What are you doing in here, Trevor? Is there anything I can help you with?" Mia asked gently as she approached the bed where he stood.

"No, ma’am. I was just leaving now," Trevor said, attempting to leave while hiding the book behind his back.

But Mia stopped him imdiately when she spotted the book herself.

"What are you holding in your hands?" she asked, reaching out for the book. Trevor shifted away.

"It’s nothing, Mom. It really is nothing," Trevor insisted, struggling to clear his head as the sight of his mother’s tightly wrapped towel began to distract him.

"I said I want to see what it is. This is my room, rember?" Mia said, reaching out again, this ti more intently

She failed to grab the book as Trevor kept struggling, telling her it was truly nothing important.

This only fueled her curiosity, and she reached for the book again with more determination.

Then, all of a sudden, they both tripped and fell onto the bed. Mia landed on top of Trevor, their faces almost touching.

Trevor looked at Mia’s delicate blue eyes and her lovely, enticing facial features.

He tried to shake himself out of the mont, but he felt his face drawing closer and closer to hers.

Suddenly, Mia’s mind snapped back to reality. She pulled away from the kiss and stood up abruptly, her face turned away in sha.

"I—I am actually really sorry. I didn’t an to. It was a mistake. I... I actually, um..." Mia spoke in a shaky voice, trying to compose herself, but her cheeks were flushed red with embarrassnt.

Trevor stood up gradually, blinded by an emotion he couldn’t quite explain. He moved closer to his mother as she

spoke.

He could see the beauty in her eyes and the sincerity in her words.

He drew closer, admiring everything about the woman in front of him. Just before she could say anything else, he gently raised her chin and began to kiss her again.

Trevor took a deep sigh and then finally began flipping the book once more to the section on testing. After reading it, Trevor paused for a long ti.
