The Heavenly Law Tree
Standing under the tree, Julian felt as small as an ant.
The endless void stretched around him in complete silence. There was no sky above, no earth beneath his feet, only an endless darkness illuminated by the giant tree before him. Its trunk towered upward beyond sight, ancient branches spreading like they were supporting the heavens themselves.
Julian slowly raised his head.
For the first ti in a long while, his breathing beca uneven.
"What... is this place?"
His voice echoed softly into the void, yet even his own words felt insignificant here.
The giant tree did not answer him.
Yet for so reason, Julian felt as though it was watching him.
The tree radiated a dazzling light, illuminating the entire space.
Golden radiance flowed through the bark like rivers of stars. Every leaf shimred with strange ancient symbols, glowing and fading rhythmically like breathing. The surrounding darkness retreated from that light as if it feared approaching the tree.
The light landed on Julian’s face, warming his skin.
At the sa ti, an indescribable pressure descended onto his soul.
Julian narrowed his eyes slightly.
"This thing... feels alive."
The leaves rustled softly.
The sound resembled whispers from countless distant worlds.
Looking at the tree, Julian felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
It was not the familiarity of seeing sothing before.
Rather, it was the feeling of finally returning ho after wandering alone for countless years.
His chest tightened slightly.
A strange ache spread through his heart.
He unconsciously stepped closer.
"Why does it feel like I’ve known you forever?"
The giant tree remained silent.
But the light around it flickered gently, almost like a response.
As if it were a part of his body, connected to his heart.
Julian suddenly felt his heartbeat synchronize with the movent of the tree.
Thump.
Rustle.
Thump.
Rustle.
Each pulse echoed together perfectly.
A strange emotion rose inside him.
Loneliness.
Anger.
Exhaustion.
Hope.
Emotions that did not belong to just one lifeti.
Julian’s pupils contracted slightly.
Under the tree, he saw sothing like glass shards, with various scenes flickering inside.
The fragnts floated quietly around the roots like abandoned mories.
Inside each shard were different worlds.
Different skies.
Different faces.
Different versions of himself.
In one shard, he saw himself wearing ancient imperial robes stained with blood.
In another, he stood alone atop a snowy mountain while countless corpses surrounded him.
In another, he was kneeling beside a burning palace while a woman cried behind him.
Julian frowned deeply.
"What are these..."
The closer he walked, the heavier his breathing beca.
The scenes inside the shards felt painfully real.
No.
They were real.
He walked over and picked up one of the shards, and a mory appeared in his mind.
Boom.
The mont his fingers touched the shard, countless mories exploded into his consciousness like a floodgate breaking open.
A world of immortals.
A world of technology.
A world ruled by demons.
A world drowned beneath endless oceans.
He saw himself struggling desperately in every single one.
Running.
Scheming.
Fighting.
Begging.
Killing.
Dying.
Again and again.
Julian staggered backward, gripping his head tightly.
"Ah...!"
Cold sweat covered his forehead.
His soul trembled violently.
After seeing this familiar mory.
Julian’s eyes slowly widened.
His lips trembled faintly.
"No way..."
The mories were too clear.
Too vivid.
He could even rember the sll of blood from one world and the taste of snow from another.
Julian suddenly rembered.
He rembered everything.
Not fragnts.
Not dreams.
Everything.
The countless transmigrations.
The countless deaths.
The countless struggles.
All of it returned to him at once.
HE then saw other mories.
More shards floated toward him automatically.
One after another, they shattered into streams of light upon touching his body.
A young emperor betrayed by his ministers.
A swordsman pierced through the heart protecting soone he loved.
A scholar burned alive as a villain despite saving millions.
A tyrant hated by the world simply because heaven had chosen another as the protagonist.
Julian stood frozen.
His breathing beca ragged.
"So all of them... were ?"
His voice sounded hoarse.
He hadn’t transmigrated into books first tis; those experiences were fake.
The so-called "first transmigration" had rely been another lie.
A fabricated mory.
A false beginning.
The truth was far crueler.
His all previous transmigration mories had all been left here!
Every life.
Every despair.
Every death.
Everything had been buried beneath this tree.
Like abandoned offerings.
Counting this ti, he had transmigrated seven hundred seventy sixth tis! This transmit is his seven hundred seventy seventh
Julian laughed softly.
The laugh sounded exhausted beyond words.
"Seven hundred and seventy-seven tis..."
"How stubborn am I?"
His eyes slowly reddened.
"But story in his any life don’t change"
No matter what world he entered, the ending remained the sa.
The protagonist won.
The villain lost.
The heavens always chose its favorite child.
Each ti he entered a different world, he tried to survive.
Sotis he beca kind.
Sotis ruthless.
Sotis invisible.
Sotis powerful enough to shake entire worlds.
Yet none of it mattered.
He tried various ways to change the plot, including eliminating the protagonist, becos protagonist, stay away from protagonist or doing other things, but to no avail.
Every path ended in destruction.
If he fought the protagonist directly, fate crushed him.
If he avoided the protagonist, fate dragged him back.
If he tried becoming the protagonist himself, heaven rejected him.
Julian clenched his fists tightly.
"So even destiny has favorites..."
His voice carried a cold bitterness.
