The Heavenly Law Tree [Part-2]
Until the seven hundred and seventy sixth transmigration.
The surrounding shards suddenly glowed brighter.
One mory beca especially vivid.
Julian slowly looked toward it.
His expression changed.
He rembered that life clearly.
He entered a fantasy novel and beca a king and he had ruled carefully.
Protected his people.
Expanded the kingdom.
Saved countless civilians from war.
Yet heaven still branded him a villain.
The protagonist arrived like a chosen savior.
Everything Julian built was destroyed.
His throne was snatched away by the protagonist.
His loyal ministers executed.
Even the won who once swore loyalty to him were taken away by the protagonist in the later stages under the na of "justice."
Julian’s eyes turned terrifyingly cold.
"That world..."
He still rembered the feeling of kneeling in chains before the protagonist while the crowd cursed him as a tyrant.
When he was about to be killed by the protagonist again, filled with rage, he decided to risk it all!
That day, sothing inside him finally snapped.
If the heavens refused to let him live...
Then he would tear the heavens apart.
Since he couldn’t survive, he might as well challenge the Fortune’s it self.
Julian slowly exhaled.
His gaze turned sharp.
"Why should I accept my fate?"
"Why should villains deserve death?"
By risking his life, he managed to snatch back the Heavenly Law Seed that the protagonist was supposed to take.
That was the treasure destined for the protagonist.
The treasure that would allow him to dominate the world.
Julian stole it directly in front of everyone.
The protagonist scread in fury.
The heavens trembled.
And he swallowed it on the spot, intending to destroy it this way.
Julian still rembered laughing wildly while blood poured from his mouth.
"If I can’t have it..."
"Then none of you will!"
After swallowing the Heavenly Law Seed, he instantly perished.
His body exploded beneath heavenly lightning.
His soul shattered completely.
At the mont of his death.
Sothing unexpected happened.
The Heavenly Law Seed recognized his will and successfully rged with his soul.
A will that refused submission.
A will that dared challenge fate itself.
Thus, the tree before him appeared.
Julian slowly looked up at the towering giant tree again.
"So you were born from that..."
When he placed his hand on the giant tree, he felt a monstrous hostility, as if resisting sothing.
Boom.
A terrifying aura surged through his soul instantly.
Hatred.
Resentnt.
Defiance.
Countless emotions flooded him.
It was like hearing seven hundred seventy-six versions of himself screaming simultaneously.
"Is this the will of a villain... or perhaps mine?"
Julian withdrew his hand, feeling enlightened.
His eyes beca calr than ever before.
What is a villain?
A simple question.
Yet nobody could answer it.
Going against the Way of Heaven makes one a villain?
Julian suddenly laughed mockingly.
"Then what exactly is heaven?"
"Who gave it the right to decide?"
Who decided that villains are destined to be stepping stones for the Fortune’s Chosen, to beco their nourishnt for growth?
Or how does Heaven decide who is a villain and who is a hero? Under Heaven, everyone is the sa, so why is there such a difference?
Julian’s voice gradually grew colder.
"If saving lives isn’t enough..."
"If protecting people isn’t enough..."
"Then what makes soone righteous?"
"Because heaven says so?"
He slowly raised his head toward the endless darkness.
His golden eyes burned fiercely.
"Since Heaven refuses to give villains a path to live, then I’ll carve one out myself."
Boom.
The entire void trembled violently.
Affected by Julian’s state of mind, the giant tree shook slightly.
Golden light exploded across the endless darkness.
The leaves rustled wildly like an ancient storm.
Countless leaves rustled, as if reminding Julian to be cautious.
The tree seed nervous.
Worried.
As though warning him that such thoughts were dangerous.
Julian rely smiled faintly.
"I’ve already died seven hundred seventy-six tis."
"What else do I have to fear?"
Then, everything around him returned to normal.
The void disappeared.
The giant tree vanished.
The mories faded like smoke.
As if the river of ti had stalled and then resud its flow.
Julian blinked once.
The cold wind returned.
The sll of blood returned.
The dying Evan lay before him once more.
Evan stared at Julian, coughing up a mouthful of blood with a face full of unwillingness.
His body trembled violently.
Blood continued spilling from his mouth.
His eyes were filled with madness and disbelief.
He couldn’t understand.
How could he, the mighty Obsidian King, end up like this?
He had once believed himself invincible.
Chosen by fate.
Destined to rule.
Yet now he was dying like a stray dog.
"Don’t worry, once I’m dead, you’ll soon join , the Old Man will avenge ."
Evan laughed weakly.
The laughter sounded twisted and unstable.
He said with a twisted face, a hint of excitent in his tone.
"Him?"
Julian sneered.
His gaze toward Evan carried pity more than hatred now.
"You overestimate yourself. You’re just a pawn to him, not even a mber of the his blood, understand?"
Evan froze slightly.
His pupils shrank violently.
Evan was slightly startled, his voice tinged with despair as he shouted.
"Impossible, stop spouting nonsense."
His breathing beca hurried.
Fear finally appeared in his eyes.
"Ask yourself, what do you truly know about him? Are you really his successor? Do you even know that man’s real na?"
Julian spoke calmly.
Each word pierced deeper than a blade.
Evan opened his mouth.
But no answer ca out.
Because he suddenly realized...
He truly knew nothing.
Julian looked at Evan with rare pity.
The Old Monster pulling the strings from behind.
Julian had already guessed so of his identity.
That monster had never cared about Evan.
He rely needed a useful pawn.
Evan, the so-called Obsidian King.
Was just a pitiful pawn brainwashed and raised from a young age.
Lucus’s existence was enough to explain a lot.
Pawns can always be replaced at will.
"Impossible, impossible..."
Evan muttered repeatedly.
His eyes gradually beca hollow.
The belief supporting his entire life collapsed completely.
Evan, full of despair, kept murmuring, his eyes gradually losing focus as he slowly died.
