"Maybe you haven’t noticed it yet, but we can’t fly here."
That statent made the Spiritas pause. Their eyes widened as they looked at Emrys before looking at each other.
Emrys nodded slowly. "Yes. This place suppresses flight. The pressure from the Dark Dragon Soul Beast’s skeleton is too strong. That ans if you plan to leave the desert, you’ll have to find a way out of this place first."
His voice remained calm, but his words carried weight.
The Spiritas were stunned for a mont. Only now did they realize how unusual it was that none of them could fly, even with their cultivation levels.
The area was more dangerous than they first thought.
Emrys sat down beside the monunt, his back resting against it. His eyes remained open and alert.
Although he seed relaxed like soone who had no more interest in what lay ahead and only wanted to survive, but deep in his heart, he had already made his choice to enter the inheritance site after visiting the Cosmic Battlefield once.
If the inheritance is already taken away by then, then it would be his bad luck. However, if the inheritance is still there, then he would definitely take it for himself.
The five Spiritas began to murmur among themselves in their own language. Their bluish almost transparent bodies occasionally pulsed with slight flickers of energy. Emrys couldn’t hear exactly what they said, but he didn’t need to. He could tell they were debating how to proceed and what to do about him.
After a short while, On’ar Liss turned to him and said, "Since you’re not interested in the inheritance, then help us with sothing else instead."
He paused, then added, "You are already planning to look for a way out. If you can find a path before we return from the inheritance site, we won’t mind rewarding you. We’ll share a portion of whatever we obtain inside."
Emrys smiled lightly and nodded. "That’s fair. I’ll do my best."
The Spiritas seed satisfied with his calm acceptance.
Then, one of them, who had a slightly shorter figure with sharper features, took a deep breath and stepped forward. His movents were slow and heavy. The invisible pressure coming from the giant skeleton ahead was weighing him down with each step.
Even Emrys, who was only sitting beside the monunt, could feel that terrifying suppression. It was as though space itself had thickened around the bones.
The Spiritas cultivator clenched his fists. His eyes were focused on the massive skeleton. His feet dragged slightly, as if every inch forward was a battle against an invisible wall. Just reaching the skeleton was an achievent in itself.
Dark, fossilized bones coiled like a sleeping serpent, radiating an ancient and overwhelming force. This beast had once been the Soul Spirit of a Spiritas from the Cosmic Era, and now, even in death, its presence could shake the heart of any Soul Master.
The Spiritas cultivator arrived in front of the bones, then extended his hand slowly. He then released his Divine Sense.
The instant he released his Divine Sense, his expression twisted in discomfort. He could feel his Divine Sense being suppressed too.
Emrys could see his brows furrow, veins pushing against his bluish skin as he fought against the heavy pressure.
And then, in a mont that ca and went...
Whoosh!
A faint gust stirred the air as his body was enveloped in a mysterious, almost invisible force. In the blink of an eye, he vanished.
"This...?" one of the remaining Spiritas exclaid. All of them were stunned. But their surprise only lasted a few seconds. Their eyes soon cald down as they realized what had happened.
"He entered!"
One of them muttered. "The mont the Divine Sense touched the soul beast’s skeleton, the inheritance site accepted him inside."
Understanding this, the second Spiritas approached. His steps were also heavy. Following him were the third, the fourth, and the fifth Spiritas.
One by one, they arrived before the massive skeleton and released their Divine Sense while enduring the ancient pressure. And just like the first, each of them vanished as soon as their Divine Sense made contact with the skeleton.
Now only Emrys remained in the pit. He sat silently beside the monunt, his back resting against the cool rock. He didn’t move or speak. He simply watched as the last of the five Spiritas disappeared into the mysterious space hidden within the bones of the Dark Dragon Soul Beast.
Now that all five Spiritas had vanished into the inheritance site, the pit returned to silence.
Then, Emrys slowly stood up.
He patted the dust from his clothes with calm and unhurried movents. His eyes turned to the monunt that had stood silently beside him the entire ti.
His expression suddenly beca solemn.
Without a word, he lifted his right hand and brought a finger to his mouth.
Bite.
His teeth pierced the skin, and a small bead of crimson blood welled up. It shimred slightly under the dim light.
Emrys stepped toward the monunt.
And then, he let a drop of his blood fall onto its cold surface.
The mont the blood touched the monunt, it was absorbed in an instant as if the stone had been waiting for it all along.
A buzz echoed in the air, and then, without warning...
BOOM!
The monunt exploded with a blinding golden radiance!
The light burst out with such intensity that Emrys instinctively raised his arm to shield his eyes, but it was useless. The brilliance pierced through his closed lids, forcing him to shut his eyes tightly.
It felt as though sothing had wrapped around his body, tugging him gently but irresistibly away from the world he stood in.
The warmth of the light soon faded, and the pressure in the air shifted.
When Emrys slowly opened his eyes again, he was no longer in the pit. There was no monunt in front of him. There was also no sand or bones here.
He was now standing alone in a vast and empty space. This space was completely white.
There was no sky, no ground, no horizon here.
If there was anything, then it was only pure white stretching in every direction endlessly.
He looked down.
Even the "floor" beneath his feet was white.
