2752 ng Bai's Day Out
ng Bai would need a proper space to 'stay' within the teleportation bubble. Simply floating in an empty void for an extended period would be far too disorienting for him.
"That's a good idea. It would be nice to have a bed to rest in," Daoist Chu agreed.
"Looks like I've got so work to keep occupied for the next couple of days," Lin Mu mused as he got up.
It was not going to be an easy task to safeguard that courtyard against the usual bumps and jerks of Spatial Teleportation. The reinforcing and defensive arrays that Lin Mu had added to it would not be enough; he would need to strengthen it further. With his work cut out, Lin Mu headed to the open courtyard, which had more than enough space for him to take out the courtyard.
There was no way it was going to fit in the Formation Hall that was also present in the villa.
Daoist Chu had half a mind to watch Lin Mu work and learn from it, but then he shook his head.
"Nah, I'll go enjoy the city." Thinking of several places he had been yearning to visit, he was filled with excitent. "Wonder what kind of new girls they have here, haha!" the man said with joy as he left the courtyard.
He had so heavy pockets that needed to be lightened, after all.
'I won't get to enjoy like this once I'm back at the sect,' he thought to himself.
While Daoist Chu was indulging in his leisure, ng Bai was having a similar experience.
"Whoa!" ng Bai exclaid as he walked through the bustling streets of the capital city.
Shops of all kinds stretched from one end of the street to beyond what he could see, vibrant banners waving in the breeze, rchants shouting about their wares, and the scent of roasted ats and fragrant spices filling the air.
"There, there! I want to try that!" Ashy chirped excitedly, pointing towards a hawker selling golden, syrup-glazed sweets.
"Okay." ng Bai, equally tempted, approached the vendor. "Give four, please." He quickly took the small packet of sweet buns, their honeyed aroma making his mouth water.
He handed so to each of the beasts before taking a big bite himself.
"Oh, nice! This tastes like caral!" ng Bai exclaid before the twins excitedly tugged on his arms. "There! Look at those skewers!"
Before he could react, they dragged him towards another vendor grilling skewers of sizzling at over red-hot coals, the aroma thick with savory spices.
After buying the skewers, the beasts took him from one stall to another, each offering different delicacies. In just half an hour, he was stuffed, but the trio showed no signs of slowing down.
"More! I want more!" Xiao Yang demanded, his tongue flicking out in excitent.
"There! That shop next! That candy looks like gems!" Xiao Yin insisted, pulling him in the opposite direction.
"Ugh! Stop it, you two! You'll split in half!" ng Bai groaned, his arms stretched to their limits.
Passersby chuckled as they witnessed the boy standing in a T-pose, caught between the twins' tugging.
After a brief argunt, Xiao Yin won, and they went to the candy shop first before visiting a stall selling crispy, scallion-infused pancakes.
An hour passed as ng Bai was dragged from shop to shop by the insatiable twins. Ashy was more reserved, though not due to restraint—rather, she had quietly slipped away. Unnoticed by ng Bai, she had flitted into the shadows of a nearby inn, listening intently to a group of rowdy n exaggerating their exploits with won.
Once satisfied with their gossip, she returned to ng Bai's shoulder, only to disappear again when another intriguing conversation caught her attention.
Through all this, ng Bai remained oblivious, his hands too full of skewers and candies to notice her absence.
After exhausting the food street, they wandered into an area where shops displayed dazzling weapons, intricate tools, and glittering accessories.
"So many shinies!" Ashy's eyes sparkled.
The twins were equally enthralled.
"That will look perfect in my nest!" Xiao Yang declared, pointing at a delicate golden trinket.
"I want that sapphire!" Xiao Yin cried. "I'll hang it from the leaf above!"
"Wait, wait! These will be expensive," ng Bai protested, clutching his pouch protectively. Food was fine; it was relatively cheap. But splurging on luxuries? That was a different matter entirely.
The trio exchanged sly grins. "We got money."
Before ng Bai could question them, two rather heavy bags landed in his hands. "Huh?" He looked down, nearly buckling under the weight. "What's this?" He peeked inside, only to be nearly blinded by the gleam of immortal stones.
GASP!
Shocked, he hurriedly stashed them in his spatial ring, paranoia flaring that soone might get the wrong idea.
He quickly glanced around, ensuring no one had noticed him.
Phew.
"No one saw." He exhaled in relief.
"Let's go buy!" The twins tugged at his arms, dragging him into a lavish jewelry store where they began picking out gemstones.
The shopkeeper bead, mistaking ng Bai for a young master on a shopping spree. As they moved between shops, Ashy soon grew tired of waiting and embarked on her own 'shopping trip.' Of course, no monetary exchange was involved. Yet, sohow, trinkets and small valuables vanished into the shadows, never to be seen again.
anwhile, as ng Bai browsed, he suddenly bumped into soone in the bustling crowd.
"Huh? What kind of blind bastard dares to bump into ?" the stranger spat, glaring at ng Bai.
The boy hesitated, intimidated by the richly dressed young man before him, his robes embroidered with golden dragons and phoenixes.
"You, are you blind?" the man scoffed. "Or are you simply overwheld by my presence?" He flicked his immaculately styled hair.
ng Bai remained silent, unsure of what to say.
"Motherfucker, speak!" the man barked. "Or are you mute too?"
But before ng Bai could respond, a loud and unexpected voice rang out.
"FUCK YOUR MOM!"
The street fell silent. Heads turned. Gasps echoed through the crowd.
ng Bai's eyes widened in shock. He hadn't said it.
But soone had.
