Mrs. Sinclair cast another cold, wary glance at Bella Acker before opening the car door and getting in.
Joy hesitated to leave, standing beside Damian, and said, "Damian, the cut on your lip needs to be treated. Let’s talk about whatever it is later."
Damian turned his head emotionlessly to look at her and said, "Whatever my mom said to you doesn’t represent , so you’d better not overthink it."
Joy froze on the spot, clearly not expecting him to be so blunt and unkind, leaving her no room at all to maneuver, without even considering her feelings.
Joy’s eyes instantly reddened, and she threw the handkerchief and ice cubes at his feet, cursing, "Damian Sinclair, you bastard!" After cursing, she wiped her tears and ran off.
"Joy." The middle-aged woman in the car, Joy’s mother, saw her daughter running off in tears and quickly got out of the car to chase after her.
Mrs. Sinclair frowned, knowing that while she was there, Damian might consider her expression and save Joy so face. But once she left, Damian certainly wouldn’t spare Joy any sympathy.
Although this girl seed simple and gentle, her reaction just now showed she actually has a lot of scheming.
As a mother, she certainly didn’t want her son ending up with a woman with a heavy heart. So seeing Joy and her mother run off, she didn’t get out of the car to chase them.
Moreover, she was filled with anger that hadn’t dissipated since she saw Bella Acker.
Everyone else had left, leaving only the two of them.
Bella Acker hesitated for a mont and said, "Senior Quinn stood up for , you... please don’t bla him."
"Are you afraid I’ll use my power to hinder his career?" Damian raised his eyebrows coldly. "Am I really that unreasonable and petty in your eyes?"
"No, I just..."
"Just what?" Damian sneered, "Just worried about him?"
Bella felt wrongly treated, and he was even using a mocking tone to speak to her. Anger surged up in her heart as she blurted out, "He stood up for , shouldn’t I be worried about him?"
Damian’s body stiffened, and Bella turned her gaze away in defiance, her eyes brimming with tears.
These past few days, she had been waiting anxiously for his news. Did he even know how uneasy she felt?
Instead, he’d gone off without comforting her, eting and dining with another woman. Now, he turned around to mock her. Did he ever consider her feelings?
The more Bella thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, and tears flowed uncontrollably. But she pressed her lips tightly to stop herself from crying out loud.
Damian was silent for a mont and then said, "You’re drunk. Let’s talk after you’ve sobered up."
"I’m clearly sober now." Bella turned her tear-filled eyes back to him, glaring, "I know that to you, family matters more than anything. You can’t get past this hurdle, so even if you haven’t ntioned breaking up now, you will sooner or later. I’m just stupid; even knowing how slim the hope is, I’m still foolishly waiting."
Damian frowned, stepped forward, and took out a handkerchief to wipe her tears. "Things aren’t as simple as you think."
"Things aren’t as simple as I think? Then what’s so difficult about it that you’ve been unable to decide for so long?" Bella avoided his hand, tears streaming down her face. "You’re always like this, deciding everything on your own without telling anything. Do you know how uneasy I am, not knowing anything?"
