Bella Acker got out of the car first, holding a bag and waiting by the car, and soon Bea arrived.
Bea was clearly sneaking out with an excuse. She quickly walked over to Bella, noticing that Bella was still wearing a plain down jacket, and frowned, saying: "Bella, why didn’t you change into the dress I prepared for you?"
Bella shook her head, handing the bag back to Bella, saying: "Bea, thank you for being so thoughtful, but I can’t accept this dress. Anyway, I’m not here for the party today, I don’t need to wear a dress."
Bea had arranged for her to et Damian in a secluded corner, so it didn’t matter whether she wore a dress or not.
Bea rolled her eyes at that, "Don’t you want to look beautiful in front of my brother?"
Of course, she wanted to look beautiful in front of Damian, but so things wouldn’t change no matter how beautifully she dressed up.
Bella smiled lightly, not answering.
"Never mind, as you wish." Bea sighed, turning to the girl in the car, "Sunny, please take care of Ethan for a while." She said as she tossed the bag with the dress back into the car,
The girl nad Sunny flashed an OK sign and caught the tossed bag.
"Let’s go." Bea grabbed Bella’s wrist to cross the road, not heading for the party’s main entrance but cutting through the greenery on the side. As they walked, she said, "I can only stall my mom for ten minutes at most. Keep an eye on your phone; if you get a call from , it ans my mom has started looking for my brother. Don’t answer, just leave, got it?"
"Got it." Bella nodded, feeling a bit down. She only had ten minutes with Damian.
Bea hesitated for a mont but still said, "There’s one more thing. My mom brought Cecilia Lynch today, as my brother’s fiancée."
Bella abruptly looked up at her. Bea felt awkward; even she thought her mom’s actions were a bit too unfair to Bella. But her mom would kick up a fuss and cry, and she even swallowed sleeping pills when her brother tried to see Bella, so there was nothing they could do.
Bea sighed, saying, "Cecilia seems to be pregnant."
Bella’s heart skipped a beat, and her steps faltered for a mont before she resud walking. She quietly asked, "Is it confird?"
"I haven’t seen it myself, but apparently, she tested positive for pregnancy. My mom showed the pregnancy test and ultrasound to my brother." Bea said, glancing at Bella.
Bella hung her head, her long hair sliding down to obscure her small face, making it impossible to discern her emotions or complexion at the mont.
After a while, Bella softly said, "That’s nice."
Her voice was so soft that even Bea, who walked beside her, couldn’t hear clearly, "What did you say?"
Bella shook her head, "Nothing."
By now, they had reached the spot Bea had arranged to et Damian. Bea said, "I just told my brother I needed to talk to him, I didn’t say you’d be here, so..." She originally wanted to say that Bella should try to convince her brother, but she couldn’t bear to say it out loud.
Because that would be too selfish, and too cruel to Bella.
She asked Bella to convince her brother, but who would go and comfort Bella?
Bea waved her hand, leaving the words unsaid, "Bella, wait here for a while. My brother will be here soon."
