Bea left, and Bella Acker stood behind a tree, her tears suddenly streaming from her eyes after being held back for so long.
When she heard the news of Cecilia Lynch’s pregnancy, she suddenly didn’t know the purpose of coming to see Damian anymore.
He’s about to beco a father, so why should she co?
To congratulate him?
Bella Acker bit her lower lip tightly, tears flowed down her cheeks to her mouth, spilling inside, bitter like her current mood.
Soon, footsteps sounded nearby, and Bella quickly wiped her tears away with the back of her hand, looking up.
Damian Sinclair didn’t expect to see Bella Acker here, surprised inside but showing no emotion on his face.
Their eyes t, but ultimately Bella was the first to lose the duel, lowering her gaze.
Bella said, "Damian, I already know. There’s nothing I can do to change what my father did, I’m sorry."
"It wasn’t your actions, you don’t need to say sorry." Damian replied.
"But I have to bear the consequences, don’t I?" Bella said with a bitter smile.
Damian suddenly clenched his fist, his brow furrowed deeply.
Bella kept her head down, not noticing his reaction, speaking softly, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know about these grudges before, and kept forcing you to choose. I’m sorry." Saying this, she bowed ninety degrees in apology to Damian.
Damian felt a bit annoyed, "I’m willing; you don’t need to say sorry for this!"
Bella stayed bent over, fresh tears welling up again. She kept her head down, not wanting Damian to see her cry.
They fell silent for a mont before Damian spoke first, "Why are you here?"
"I..." Bella opened her mouth, with many things wanting to be said.
Like asking him again, with such grudges, would he still choose her?
The words he said about loving her forever, do they still hold true?
In the future, could they still go together to visit the small grave piled up on the hilltop outside town, and reminisce about the lost child?
Could they still raise dogs, cats, and plants together when they’re old, or by then, would they have beco strangers who can’t even rember each other’s nas?
She wanted to say, about the mistakes her dad made, can more ti be spared for her to slowly make ands...
So many things she wanted to say, but when she opened her mouth, didn’t know what to start with.
There were too many people and things standing between them; she might not be able to overco them even with all her effort.
Bella kept her head down, tears hovering in her eyes, which she quickly wiped away.
Damian looked at her, taking a step toward her.
"Damian, don’t." Bella suddenly spoke up, "Don’t co any closer, just stay where you are, alright?"
Her voice was soft yet resolute. She feared that if he ca closer, the strength she had painstakingly built would crumble.
She didn’t want to cry weakly in front of him again, at least not now.
Damian halted his steps, looking at her silently.
Bella reached out to grasp the ring on her finger, holding it tightly. Just thinking about removing it made her heart ache unbearably.
It seed like once she took off the ring he had personally put on her finger, there would truly be nothing left between them.
Those sweet words, those promises, those precious little monts would all be gone.
Bella bit her lower lip tightly, tears finally spilling over her eyes.
She could only manage not to let herself sob audibly.
