Ogura rebellion was never the endga for Utgard tribe that Mayeux had crafted, but since it happens, Mayeux take that advantage to kill Garron

So, he had delayed the Kan, and delayed the news from reaching the Kan. And even then, Mayeux plan nearly failed because of the timing.

Because there was one thing that Mayeux miscalculate. And that is Aeryon is not a complete political machine.

Yes, there are many things he could abandon for power. But he was never soone who seek power for power....at least not entirely

If Mayeux thought that, then he is wrong.

Yes, Aeryon wanted power.

Yes, he wanted the Southern Great Steppe.

He wanted to unify it.

And then unify the Great Steppe.

After that, if he succeeds in doing this, whether he wanted to or not, he had to expand because by then, his will alone could not override the wills of the victorious warrior under him

Even if Genghis Khan is a peaceful person, once he had united the Great Steppe, if he did not want to expand, then his kingdom built on military back and with old enemies all around them, even if Genghis Khan did not want to fight, he still has to fight

Aeryon did not forget his original intention of seeking power.

The intrigues and plots are all ans to an end.

The end which is the safety of the entire Steppe.

Aeryon knew the future.

In his mories, he is now in a book that he had read.

So dreams he had since then made him believe that it might not be a book at all.

And his mories might have been tampered or broken during the transmigration process.

Whatever the case, the reason why Aeryon felt so strongly to unify the Steppe, is because he knew that if Yan gain power back in the north, those Yan race would kill the people of the Steppe to win reputation in dostic matters

Aeryon had changed that future a bit by sieging Nurshira and letting loose the tribes of the Steppe on northern region of Yan

But Aeryon knows just because he did this does not an the future had changed. It would just highlight the strength of the grassland which would make the princes, dukes and military general of Yan wary of the Great Steppe

In the end, the result would be the sa. Yan would send soldier to kill the people of the Steppe

Aeryon knew that no matter which path he chooses, the Yan dynasty forces would attack.

If they are weak, the Yan would cite that the barbarian is weak now is the ti to eradicate them and the end result of that would be slaughter the children of the Steppe and the old

The warriors, the young could still run far away but what about the common people?

If these people are of Yan people, they would cite hundreds of thousands of examples of the classic to prevent military generals from killing people

But since Yan from the very beginning did not look at other races and consider them humans, even if the people of the Steppe shed tears of blood, even if they plead, begged, they would still be executed

The only sin would be that they were not Yan people.

If the people of Steppe is strong, the Yan people would accuse the people of the Steppe of wanting to attack, regardless if it’s true or not

They view the grassland people like weeds on the side of the street, and they need to clean it every once in a while.

That....is human lives.

Since that is the case, and there is no wining regardless of any choice the Steppe makes, then there is only one choice that remains for Aeryon.

Raise an army, unify the lands and protect the Steppe!

With enough power, then regardless of whether Yan send their army or not, the Great Steppe would survive.

In the book, the genocide of the Steppe people is just ntion in a few lines. And Aeryon did not feel the weight of those lives in those few sentence

It is the sa reason why military officials when reporting number of casualties, they use numbers.

Because if you give faces and stories to these numbers, you began asking yourself, whose father is this, that I do not know, do not have a grudge with but I killed because soone ordered to?

Whose sons? Whose daughters? Whose mothers?

One could not feel the weight of lives in numbers.

But it wasn’t until Aeryon lives among these "barbarians" he could feel the weight of these lives. Even more so for the people of his tribe.

He might have inhabited this body, but he also gain the mories of Aeryon. There is happiness, sadness, and there is love.

Like any other human beings, they also know how to love, they have families, they have their likes and dislikes. And it is because of this, they are very fierce when it cos to fighting enemies. Love makes them brutal

Aeryon did not forget his initial intention.

He is a human being and not a fully completed political machine.

If he is simply soone that seek power for power, there is no need to unify the Steppe, and there is no need to bring all of these ideas, making him tired and frustrated every day. He could just go to Yan or sail the world and seek a different land.

That was.... Mayeux miscalculation.

Mayeux never thought that he would go to try to rescue Garron. And that he nearly succeeded.

If Aeryon was just a tad bit faster, Garron might still be alive today.

But Mayeux would never let that Viper to be alive.

Garron is not like Dama. Instead, he is even more dangerous.

Because he could perverted and corrupted the inside and then swallow the power that Aeryon created from the outside.

Utgard has always been unstable force. Whether Garron is alive or not, Utgard will always be unconvinced of Aeryon and Brolgadhr tribe and would always be unstable because of it

Since that is the case, Mayeux did not mind to make the situation murkier.

His intention was so that Aeryon could use the banner of avenging his father-in-law to seize all of Utgard.

It would even be better if the sons of Garron could kill each other and deplete all the forces of Utgard.

If Garron was saved, all of these grand plans would have to be abandoned.

Fortunately for Mayeux, it happens exactly like he had envisioned.

The only loose end was Ayera. Because even though Mayeux did not direct the matter in Utgard, he did hinder her rescue effort.

To her, that is the sa as killing her father.

Still, Mayeux was expected to be punished.

But Aeryon remains silent about it and the whole world did not know the part he plays in the downfall of Garron the Viper.

But just because the world doesn’t know did not an the Viper daughter did not know.

She knows.

And as long as she knows and remains the wife of the Kan, she would always wanted to kill him

There would be conflict between him and the wife of the Kan.

This is like a powerful minister being targeted by the Empress of a powerful emperor.

Mayeux thod is always silent and always subtle. Aeryon must have noticed sothing. He did not say anything and he did not imply anything

He is just telling him to stop

By not specifying it, Aeryon wanted him to realize it

Aeryon look at Mayeux and could not help but sigh

"Do you want to harden my heart and exile Ayera? Or better yet, kill her? So that when we do point our weapons to Utgard, I would just annex them completely?"

This is not a question. Aeryon tone was not the kind of tone of asking question. It is asking him sarcastically

From these words, one could tell that Aeryon did not have any intention to harm Ayera and did not approve his thod.

Mayeux sighed

He looks at Aeryon and then said

"it is easier to break and destroy sothing and then create sothing new on top of this broken thing than to try to hold the foundation and hoping it could remain straight"

This is Mayeux justification.

Aeryon smiles

"I am always the kind of man that likes to takes the hard way. There is always so beautiful things that would sprout from such effort that other people seed impossible’

Mayeux nodded

It is not like didn’t know his lord

"But, why would you take the hard way, when the easy way presented itself"

Aeryon only smiles and did not answer him

"Why?" Mayeux asked again and Aeryon laughed

"because it endures. Hardship makes people rember. And things that is rembered would always endures longer"

Mayeux sighed hearing this answer.

For a mont there is only silence between these two people. The birds that Aeryon look in the sky is no longer there, probably flying away to a further away clouds and sky

He sighed and shakes his head

Aeryon look at Mayeux and knows this advisor of him is not convinced.

"Heed my word, Mayeux. Enough. She has suffered enough. I’m sincere towards you. You should also be sincere towards "
