To the common warriors they must have been confused to be attacked so suddenly
And before they could even mount a counterattack, the forces of Brolgadhr has already have a counterasure for them.
Maybe in their eyes, all they could see are enemies around them and this would only enhance their panicked
And panicked army does not make a good army.
Brolgadhr army is very good at boxing them and encircle them
Once they are encircled, then there is no escape.
But from his vantage point he could see that there are a few blocks of cavalry boxing them into the area around the settlent.
There is many of such formation. They encircle a group that is panicked and then they boxed them.
So, there is many pockets of such formations in the battlefield.
And along these are routes. After all it is like boxes with a few hundred ters distance from each other. It created like an obstacle for the enemy but for the allies, they created a path for them to move through
Boxes and arrow formation filled the battlefield with crescent formation designed to herd them
Khunbish narrows his eyes.
Then he looks toward the settlent and he frowns.
The settlent itself is now on fire. And it is under attack. And there is fighting in the settlent right now
Unlike the Brolgadhr city, the settlent is just a simple settlent
But there is at least a few thousand people living in this settlent. There is a small river in this part of the settlent, and it has fertile land and tall grass for horses and Tayak. Every few winters they would settle here before migrating to so parts of this area to settle
After leaving it for two winters, it usually would return to its forr fertility and would once again being occupied
But this settlent has no walls and no defensive structure other than sentry post and towers
Even that, they copied it from the Zhou
So, now that it is being attacked directly, they could not withstand such attack.
"He layered it" Belarion acts like an axe, cleaving everything and there is the flanks and the rear protecting him.
But that is not all.
There are two wings from his left and right and when Belarion break through deep into the enemy formation, these two left and right wings separated and carve another path
Left and right
It is like an eagle spreading its wing.
"This formation is dangerous" the danger lies in the fact that Belarion is unstoppable when it is like this.
He is unstoppable because the two flanks acted like a shield
That is the only thing that they need to worry about
To beco a shield
And this advantage would quickly snowball if not stopped
The fact that he is unstoppable boosted the morale of his n but crush the morale of Nergui n
And that wing that separated, they use this opportunity, this lack and decreasing morale to carve a path.
The lower the morale, the easier it is to break any formation, the easier to break, the lower the morale beco, creating a vicious cycle
And then they are doubling back
"Not yet, but if not one stops those two forces that is cutting and opening a hole in the formation, then these two forces would double back regroup and rejoin Belarion forces and afterward, they just have to repeat the sa tactic"
The eagle spreads his wing, the wing flew left and right, creating a circle and then rejoin back the main army
This formation should not have worked. Because if they separated, the left and right forces should be attack on all sides.
But that’s the thing. When you have a vanguard like Belarion certain common sense has to take a back seat.
The reason why those two wings could freely move is because they took advantage of the chaos.
And if that is not enough, it is not only the chaos they took advantage of, but they also took advantage that no one could stop them directly
Belarion seems to have so kind of sense in the battlefield, able to see a path where others could not see and his instinct to pursue or retreat is almost supernatural
He is born to lead an army.
This kind of talent could be considered an instinctual commander.
Instead of relying on calculation like certain type of general, Belarion relies on his sharp instinct when he is on the battlefield
And so, certain common sense could not apply to him because sotis he would make certain actions that defies expectation.
Khunbish look at them from the mound in the centre camp, and he could see so of the command did try to stop this wing from circling them but the mont they try to stop them, Belarion would change direction and targeted them
He would circle, he would break the army into two only to double back, or he would simply crush the front and intimidate the army, taking the heads of the commander amidst a thousand man like it is the easiest thing to do.
All kinds of manoeuvre are easily done like he had done it for a thousand tis.
But Belarion alone is not enough in such a setting.
After all, this is not a duel but a battlefield.
If his army could not follow his manoeuvre, then all the manoeuvre could have the chance to backfire.
But all of the n under Belarion could easily follows Belarion manoeuvre.
They could ignore the enemy in the front and break into two directions, or envelop them from behind and even would scatter away before creating four units that boxed them from all direction
The way these people move with their horses is like an art.
And guiding them is Belarion with almost perfect understanding between him and his subordinate that is waving the banners and the one that is shouting the order
And being targeted by Belarion is sothing no ordinary person could withstand.
"And Belarion and his n knows this" Belarion charge the front but he also move erratically sotis
He deals with the small fry and stack his advantage.
There is many reason to do things like Belarion
To deal with soone like Belarion you have to deploy great warriors to even slow him down.
Belarion as a warrior could be easily manoeuvred and could easily be trapped. It is not the first ti the steppe tribe could restrain and trap an innate strength warrior.
But an innate warrior who commands ten thousand n and have thousands of n on his left and right and his rear all protected?
Now.... that is a different challenge.
"There is an innate warrior in the Nergui tribe. But they are on the main Nergui tribe settlent. And.....there is problem with that person"
"If not, how could the Nergui tribe have not used such an asset. It is because it has a problem that the tribe did not use such a person"
Not to ntion, they are unprepared for this.
No one expected the attack to co at this mont. So soldiers did not even have ti to wears their armour before they are being attacked.
"Great General Saron, you have to stop them!" Khunbish thought to himself.
Right now, he could only hope that Saron could see this.
The hierarchy in the Nergui tribe is not that strict and Khunbish did think of sending a ssenger but right now Saron is on the other side
This is the advantage of taking your enemy off guard.
You could not anticipate it.
And not anticipating it, makes all the difference.
Once there is no preparation, the damage you could inflict to the unknowing enemy is massive
Who is Saron?
Saron is the great general that is tasked to protect the people of the Karaldyk settlent and tries to pin down Brolgadhr forces in the eastern region of the Nergui territory
Saron is one of the strongest n in Nergui.
He did not possess innate strength, but he had learned martial arts from Yan and the thod of fighting of Roma.
When he was young, he was a slave. He was sold to Western Zhou and there he learns the thods of fighting of the Western Zhou
One of the raids of the western border tribe caught him. And then he was sold to Nergui tribe.
Karaldyk was where he was sold.
The chief at that ti bought him and free him of his slave status after seeing his talent in fighting.
He was then given high position. But this in itself was quite rare. There is rarely a slave that could hold high position. In the history of Nergui, there is only three instances that this has happened
It happened twice during the ancient tis between gods and heroes. And the other ti was Saron.
And since then, he is one of the great warriors of Nergui. But now...he is old now. Already thirty, a veteran.
Khunbish is still young.
Seventeen.
He is even older compared to the Khan. Why does Khunbish want Saron to succeed? Because these two are more than just superior and subordinate.
Saron taught Khunbish everything he knows and both of them are teacher and disciple. Teachers are not as highly respected as in Yan. But that does not an there is no respect to teacher in the Steppe
