Back at Wolf District, two girls were gathered inside a building: Isabella and Khalissi. Isabella’s goal there was to confront the moth woman, Khalissi. Khalissi stared at her quietly with her hand on her chin.

"Don’t you have anything to say for yourself?" Isabella snapped.

"What is there to say?" Khalissi asked boredly.

Isabella balled her fists and stepped closer to the demon.

"In the past three days, you haven’t done anything to help him," Isabella said.

"You’re wrong. I’m doing everything I can. Things have changed, and I need to make preparations..." Khalissi paused when she saw the color of Isabella’s eyes. Her eyes were bloodred with veins writhing beneath her skin.

Seeing this, Khalissi’s expression changed. Where she looked bored before, now she looked a bit interested.

"Are you hungry?" Khalissi asked. "Do pregnant vampires need to feed more? It would make sense, seeing that there are two of you now. The baby must require his blood now."

"That’s not the point," Isabella quickly cut her off. "This isn’t about or anything else. This is about you not doing anything to help. Do you intend to let him die?"

"I’ve already told you I’m doing all I can to help. It’s not like it was before. The people of this city have gathered. They have assembled forces to fight against us. Do you know what that ans? It ans it’s us against 4 million."

Isabella tried to speak but she couldn’t. She didn’t know before. she now understood the situation Khalissi was in.

Hearing Khalissi’s words, Isabella’s gaze lowered as she touched her stomach. She could feel the life inside of her, and she wanted to protect it. She could also hear the battle between Lee and Damian raging on.

Half the city was already completely desolated because of them.

"Don’t worry," Khalissi assured her. "What I’ve been doing these last few days is planning how I would deal with them. Just leave it all to ."

Hearing Khalissi’s words, Isabella nodded. There was nothing she could do but put her trust in them. After speaking to Khalissi, Isabella went to find Sylvie.

She knew exactly where Sylvie was. Since the day they ca back to Wolf District, she never moved an inch. She was always at the gate looking out at the city.

When Isabella got to the gate, she saw Sylvie there, sitting in the sa spot looking out at the city as if she was rooted there.

Isabella stood beside her and similarly gazed out at the city.

"Do you see him?" she asked Sylvie.

Sylvie shook her head.

"They are too far away, but Sylvie can hear them and sll them."

"As long as he’s alright, that’s all that matters," Isabella replied. "Have you eaten anything? You’ve been here since we ca back."

Sylvie nodded her head.

"Selthia brought sothing," she answered.

Isabella smiled, and the two of them continued to stare at the ruined city in silence.

In the days that followed, Khalissi began launching coordinated attacks on various areas of the city. The witch of Sloth and the witch of Greed were working together to fend off the Lycan pack. This caused the people of the city to be a little more organized.

This worked against everything she was trying to do, so she decided to take them out first. She sent forces after both witches.

Selthia, along with Yuki and her ghouls, were sent after the witch of Greed. While Kumo, along with the Valkyrie queen and her forces, were sent to face the witch of Sloth.

The rest of the pack would act as support for the ghouls. Quite a few ghouls had been killed, so they would do their best to make sure the infection spread further. Everything was almost set.

Now, the only thing she had left to do was go see Persephone. Before Liam left, he had told her to give the witch of Calamity a ssage. She went to the laboratory where Persephone always was. Persephone was looking over the dragon fossil.

The fossil didn’t interest Khalissi. She had seen a real dragon countless tis during the war, and it was much more fearso in person. Only Lucifer and a few arch demons could stand against them.

"Hmm... this one seems a bit small too," she thought. "It’s only the size of a city block."

Compared to the ones she saw, this dragon was small. She had seen dragons as big as Purgatory itself.

Soon, Persephone arrived inside the room where Khalissi was waiting.

"Did you do what I asked of you?" Khalissi quickly asked, feeling impatient from having to wait.

"Ah, you an that thing our alpha asked . Yes, I have countered the witch of Greed’s magic. We can now leave and enter Purgatory as we please," Persephone said confidently.

"Good," Khalissi smiled. "I need you to take to Ryon."

...

The asphalt beneath my feet lted as I landed on the ground after jumping from one of the only skyscrapers that still remained in the city. After a few hours of fighting Damian, I realized sothing: my body heat kept rising.

After three days, it had gotten so high that I could lt concrete and even tal with just a touch. I had a heat manipulation skill that allowed to manipulate the heat around . But this seed different, since I couldn’t control how high my temperature rose.

BOOM!

Like a teorite crashing from the sky, Damian landed in front of , creating a huge crater in the ground. I readied myself, knowing full well he would attack again.

Standing beside were three Garmrs, 10 shadow hounds, and also the Dullahan. One of the Garmrs had white-colored fur and was covered in electricity. Another had grey fur, and around it, the air swirled and crackled. While the final Garmr had thick brown fur and there were large rocks floating in the air in front of this Garmr.

For a mont, the entire area fell silent, nothing but the crackling of electricity and the swirling of wind. But this silence didn’t last more than a second, as Damian launched through the air towards us.

The Garmr with the electricity attribute was the first to react. He fired a lightning bolt that struck Damian in the chest, but still, it did nothing to slow his approach.

Seeing this, the Garmr that controlled wind released a powerful slashing attack. While the Garmr that controlled earth raised a giant slab of concrete above his head.

Before Damian could react to the simultaneous attacks, the Dullahan cracked his whip and used it to wrap around the vampire’s body, causing him to get hit by both the wind slash and the giant slab of concrete.

The force at which the concrete was slamd down caused it to be pulverized, engulfing the area in dust.

We had been through this countless tis, so I knew that no matter what attacks we threw at Damian, he would never stay down. So instead of wasting ti, I launched forward, covering my entire body in hellfire.

With my thermal vision, I could see through the dust, and it was just as I thought. It hadn’t slowed him down for even a second. He appeared above in less than a second.

I lowered my head before he even attacked. There were tis when I could predict his movents perfectly, and this was one of those tis. After dodging his attack, I slashed at his throat, only to create a small slice.

But this was expected; I only wanted to use my hellfire on him once again.

Our battle continued on like this for the rest of the day, and before I knew it, it was morning again. But I didn’t even notice since I was locked into combat. My sense of ti soon beca distorted, my mind consud by a single thought.

Survive...

The days that followed, I could see movents throughout the city. It sounded as if the war was ramping up, but I had zero clue what was going on or how many people had been killed. I didn’t know whether we were losing or not; I didn’t know anything.

The heat wave emanating from my body caused anything within my vicinity to lt.

I had assud my wolf form, and so had Damian.

A vampire that could change forms between a bat, a wolf, and fog itself.

He was a freak of nature.

Then again, so was I.

The two of us were considered anomalies in our kind.

The two of us slashed and bit into each other’s fur like two wild beasts. Our growls and snarls echoed through the entire city. My pitch-black fur soon beca drenched in blood, and so was Damian’s pale grey fur.

I didn’t know how long we fought like this. Maybe a day had passed. Maybe two. Or maybe even ten. Soon, I forgot why I was even fighting him, but I still knew in my soul that I had to.

No matter what, I had to fight him and I had to survive.
